Chapter 1170 Treatment
Abbot Huiming raised his eyes and glanced at Ye Feng, and asked: "Using longan can indeed heal the female donor's eyes. Does Ye know how to use it?"

If the old abbot hadn't said it, Ye Feng would have really forgotten about this problem. Even if he exchanged the ancient Bodhidharma Sutra for longan, he didn't know how to use it, and it would be in vain in the end.

So Ye Feng said humbly: "Master Huiming, I really don't know how to use it. I hope you can teach me."

The fat monk had not said a word since he left the guest room of the monastery. When he heard Ye Feng asking the abbot to teach him how to use the dragon's eye, he couldn't help but snorted coldly, with a look of bitterness and hatred on his face.

If the abbot of Baohua Temple is this fat monk, let alone borrowing the longan, the two of them may have to fight on the spot.

"That's all, let me use the longan to cure the female donor's eyes."

The old abbot took matters into his own hands, and Ye Feng naturally wanted to do it. He thanked: "This will give me Master Lao Huiming."

Abbot Huiming nodded and looked at the fat monk: "Second Junior Brother, go get ready."

Not long after the fat monk left, monks rushed towards the Heavenly King Hall one after another.

After the monks entered the hall, they lined up and stood in order. No one said anything, and all their faces were solemn.

After 49 monks stood neatly in the hall, an ancient copper bell rang.

Abbot Huiming had put on a new-looking cassock, stood at the sacrificial table in front of the Buddha statue in the Tianwang Hall, took three red incense sticks and inserted them into the incense burner.

Then he clasped his hands together, bowed before the giant Buddha in the hall, and at the same time solemnly pronounced the name of the Buddha.

Boom...!
Another copper bell rang, and the 49 monks who were originally standing in the hall sat cross-legged on the ground, and then placed the wooden fish in their hands in front of them.

Boom!
Boom!
thump...

The bell rang nine times.

In temples, ringing bells has special significance. Generally, temples will ring bells in the morning, noon and evening. In case of special events, the number of ringings will change accordingly.

Generally speaking, Buddhist bells have three, seven, eighteen, 36, and one hundred and eight striking methods.

The monks chirp three times when they are eating porridge and leaving the hall, finishing meditation, making morning and evening rounds, or having tea and getting out of bed.

When the abbot goes to the Buddha in the morning and evening to perform incense and when he enters the lecture hall of the monks, he chants seven times.

When the monks enter the fasting hall, they ring eighteen times, which is called the "entrance bell". The entrance bells are completed one by one in the order of entering the fasting hall.

The 36 strokes are the sum of the three strokes, totaling one hundred and eight strokes.

The rule of one hundred and eight strokes is related to "nine". Ancient people believed that "nine" has extremely high and auspicious meanings.

Buddha bells are used to pray, inspire, and save sentient beings.

Most of the bells in monk temples are struck once in the morning and evening, 18 times each time, 18 times slowly, 18 times more slowly, and then 108 times more slowly, repeating this twice, for a total of [-] times.

As for why the bell is set at 108 times, there are two theories.

First, when the bell is struck one hundred and eight times to correspond to the month of December, the number of 24 solar terms and 72 horoscopes adds up to 108.

It symbolizes the cycle of reincarnation and eternity. This shows that in a farming society, people hope to be blessed with abundant food and clothing through Buddha.

Secondly, Buddhism believes that people have [-] kinds of worries, and knocking [-] times can relieve sorrow.

The bell-ringing verse says: "When you hear the sound of the bell, your worries will be lightened; your wisdom will grow, and Bodhi will be born; you will leave hell and emerge from the pit of fire; you will become a Buddha and save all living beings."

Therefore, chanting sutras or mantras 108 times, using [-] Buddha beads, and even [-] Bodhisattvas are all intended to eliminate people's troubles and achieve excellent and auspicious meanings. The bell rings [-] times to eliminate all troubles in the world. It is called the "Hundred and Eighteen Bells" in Buddhism.

Generally, temples ring bells and drums every morning and evening, called morning bells and evening drums, to alert practitioners to be diligent and careful not to let go.

As for today's slow ringing of the bell nine times, it is because a special ritual will be performed.

After the bell rang, the 49 monks in the hall clasped their hands, closed their eyes slightly, and began to recite scriptures with solemn expressions.

Abbot Huiming turned around from the incense table, looked at the monks in the hall, and said loudly in a loud voice: "My Buddha is merciful. Today, I will cure the blindness of a female donor. Please give her a dragon eye!"

Abbot Huiming's voice was solemn and majestic, resounding throughout the Tianwang Palace.

The 49 monks stopped chanting sutras, knocked the wooden fish with wooden fish hammers, and declared the Buddha's name in unison: "Amitabha, my Buddha is compassionate."

Ye Feng, who stood solemnly on one side, could clearly feel the fluctuations of Buddha's power transmitted from the 49 monks.

Although the individual cultivation levels of the 49 monks are not high, the combined blessings of them all cannot be underestimated.

After Amitabha, the monks continued to chant Buddhist sutras.

"Donor Ye, please bring the female donor to sit cross-legged on the futon in front." Abbot Huiming pointed to a futon for worshiping Buddha between the monks and himself.

Ye Feng followed his instructions and led Fu Xueying to the futon, asked her to sit cross-legged in a meditative posture, and then stepped aside.

Master Huiming stretched out his right hand and pressed it on Fu Xueying's head. A powerful aura suddenly burst out, and even the cassock on his body moved without any wind.

Fu Xueying closed her eyes tightly and looked a little nervous.

The 49 monks recited sutras more frequently. In the Heavenly King's Hall, the soul-emptying Sanskrit sound filled every corner of the hall.

The incense burner is filled with green smoke, and the atmosphere is extremely solemn.

Abbot Huiming's eyes flashed with light, and the continuous fluctuations of Buddhist power centered on himself and slowly spread. The nervous look on Fu Xueying's face gradually calmed down.

Ye Feng on the side knew that Abbot Huiming was about to use longan to treat Fu Xueying's eyes. He was very curious about how the old abbot would use longan and watched with concentration.

I saw Abbot Huiming turning around and facing the Buddha case, with his eyes slightly closed, making a unique Buddhist mudra with his hands, and reciting the Buddhist mantra in his mouth at the same time: "Namo, ah Liye, Ke Shi Di, Ga Hepaye..."

As Abbot Huiming continued to chant the Buddhist mantras, a unique aura was created.

The area covered by the aura is only in the Palace of Heavenly Kings, and it fluctuates with a strange pattern.

This peculiar aura fluctuation formed a subtle resonance with the fluctuation of Abbot Huiming's own Buddhist power.

In the faint sound of Sanskrit, the power of Buddha filling the hall became stronger and stronger.

Abbot Huiming transformed his hands into another Buddha seal and pointed it toward the gilt box on the Buddha's desk.

The box opened automatically, and the surging dragon energy rushed out again, but was restricted to a small area by the aura in the hall.

"Dong, dong, dong..." the sound of wooden fish sounded along with the chanting.

Abbot Huiming moved his hands again, and the longan in the gilt box slowly floated out of the box.

Abbot Huiming punched a Buddhist seal into the dragon's eye. The originally gray and unremarkable dragon's eye immediately glowed with golden luster.
