Traveling through the new apocalyptic era
Chapter 263: Escape
Chapter 263: Escape
After temporarily slowing down the plant, Yin Ling turned around and ran backwards to catch up with her grandmother. The two of them quickly ran towards the rear carriage, but soon they discovered that the crowd across an empty carriage suddenly rushed back, mixed with various screams.
Yin Ling pulled her grandmother back to a seat on the side. Without saying a word, she raised her hand, and the knife in her hand had turned into a hammer. She smashed it hard on the upper right corner of the car window glass. The glass cracked instantly. After one or two hammers, Yin Ling changed to another corner and soon the glass was peeled off with her bare hands.
At this time, the crowd had already pushed and shoved each other in panic and came to carriage No. 6, and the door of the carriage on the other side was also broken by the rattan bars that were locked outside.
Yin Ling didn't care what was happening outside, she just turned over and jumped out of the window, and when she landed, she heard the sound of Shasha's caressing. She swung the knife in her backhand and cut a circle, cutting off the vines that were approaching. She reached out to take the grandmother who was half-leaning out, picked her up, and carried her directly on her back.
After taking a quick look around, a beam of light suddenly shone out from the pitch-black surroundings, and then shone 360 degrees. Yin Ling quickly turned off the light and walked away from the train with her grandmother on her back.
The people in the car saw the broken window the moment the lights outside came on, and they immediately rushed forward, trying to leave this car that was eating people.
The surroundings were covered with wild grass as tall as a person. Yin Ling walked through it with her grandmother on her back. Soon, she disappeared. There was only the rustling sound of the grass rubbing against her. The vines behind her did not catch up, perhaps because they were afraid of Yin Ling, or perhaps the person in the car was more attractive, or perhaps they were too far away from the main body and could not receive the message in time.
Just when Yin Ling used the flashlight to illuminate the surroundings, she discovered that there was a huge tree a few hundred meters in front of the train. Hundreds of branches extended from the darkness, almost surrounding the train.
If the train had gone a little further, the giant tree would have probably reached it long ago.
Only when they were far away from the train and the noise behind them did Yin Ling put her grandmother down, cleared a small piece of space, and the two of them sat down to rest.
Yin Ling was just breathing slightly, a little tired but still able to hold on. Although Li Xiu'e didn't move much, she felt dizzy from being pushed all the way, so she had to endure the discomfort and sat down slowly.
She took the backpack handed to her by her grandma. This was the backpack she had forgotten before leaving. Without the backpack, she couldn't take anything out.
I took out a bottle of water, unscrewed it and handed it to grandma, then took out a mini bottle of floral water and sprayed it around, just as a psychological comfort to keep away mosquitoes.
Fortunately, the temperature outside was not very low, and the two of them were dressed to withstand it.
Letting grandma sleep for a while, Yin Ling sat there and watched. The moonlight was still bright. After an unknown amount of time, Yin Ling heard a burst of hurried footsteps not far away, which slowly approached and then moved away.
Yin Ling held her breath and concentrated, guessing that someone had just escaped and passed by, and almost ran into them, but the weeds nearby were dense, and it would be impossible to see him unless he was close to them.
When Yin Ling saw the fiery red light in the distance that illuminated half of the sky, she realized that there was a fire. The fire was quite big. The vegetation here was dense, and she was worried about being affected. So Yin Ling immediately woke up her grandmother, who carried her on her back and started running in the previous direction.
A loud noise was heard in the middle of the train. It was obvious that the train had caught fire and exploded. I don't know how many of them could escape.
Yin Ling didn't stop until light appeared on the horizon.
The direction they were walking in was completely away from the giant tree. Not far away stood towering mountains, the sun was rising, birds were singing and insects were chirping. It was very primitive. If it were in modern times, it would definitely be a tourist destination for leisure and vacation.
Although the road ahead was uncertain, Yin Ling could only take things one step at a time. She took out a bag of biscuits from her backpack, shared them with her grandma, and then cleared a few square meters of space with her grandma. At her grandma's strong suggestion, Yin Ling lay on the grass and began to sleep. After not sleeping all night and walking so far, she was indeed tired.
When I woke up again, I was awakened by the heat. The sun was shining brightly and it was already noon.
Although the grass here is dense and abundant, I didn't see any animals, so it seems safe for now.
The two of them ate some biscuits and took two sips of water carefully. Finally, they decided to keep going. At least in Li Xiu'e's opinion, they could not stop without food or water. Although she had been tossing and turning all night, it was Ling Yatou who carried her. She slept for a long time in a daze. Besides, the elderly sleep less and do not need to sleep anymore, so she hurried to move on and did not want Yin Ling to continue carrying her.
"I'm not old yet. It's like I can't see the road in broad daylight. Let's go quickly." Seeing that Yin Ling still wanted to carry her, Li Xiu'e pretended to be angry and refused.
Yin Ling did not insist and walked in front to lead the way. With the mountains as a reference, they kept walking in one direction. Based on the shift of the sun, they could tell that they were heading east.
After walking for two hours, Yin Ling felt her legs were a little weak. Her body was still a little weak, but it was also related to the lack of nutrition. The things in the bag had already been sold out by her grandmother, so she couldn't smuggle things out. She didn't want to expose the space for the time being, so she could only endure it. At this time, her stomach was already rumbling.
Li Xiu'e behind him also felt weak all over. As soon as the two of them stopped, they sat on the ground. They immediately felt much cooler. There were weeds all around, which helped to relieve some of the heat.
Yin Ling handed over a half-full bottle of water. Li Xiu'e pretended to take a sip and handed it back, but in fact she only wet her lips.
Seeing this, Yin Ling drank two sips and handed the water back. "Grandma, don't worry about not having enough water. The plants here are so lush, there must be a water source. We will definitely find it if we walk more. Otherwise, if I fall down on the road, what will you do if I am alone?"
Upon hearing this, Li Xiu'e had no choice but to nod and took it and drank two more sips.
The two of them sat on the ground in silence for a while. Yin Ling didn't want to say anything, and Li Xiu'e didn't know what to say. All this was beyond her understanding.
A few minutes later, Li Xiu'e couldn't help but speak, "Ling girl, where do you think this is? How did we get here out of nowhere? And what about those vines in the car last night?"
She usually only watches news, operas and war TV dramas, so she cannot understand something as sci-fi as young people can.
"I guess we came to another world for some reason. This world is different from ours, just like the vines that ate people last night. The plants here can become spirits."
Yin Ling tried to keep it simple, and then added, "Animals may also be able to become spirits."
Li Xiu'e felt goosebumps all over her body when she heard this. She was old and had seen a lot of things, but what her granddaughter said still made her shudder. She even felt scared when she looked at the weeds around her.
"It's okay. Only those hundred-year-old trees can become spirits. Small grasses like this shouldn't be able to become spirits." Yin Ling hurriedly comforted.
After resting for half an hour, the two of them headed east again. Along the way, not only did they not encounter any escaped people, they didn't even encounter any small animals. Occasionally, a few birds flew over their heads, and it seemed that everything was peaceful and prosperous.
