However, in addition to large-scale cavalry battles, the decisive battle in the Gobi also included infantry attacks and defenses around the fortresses, large sections of trenches, and various defensive facilities buried deep underground, which would cause irreversible damage to the Yadan landscape.

The ending of "Mulan" was shot here. There are seven important exterior scenes, of which the decisive battle in the Gobi takes up five.

The first location is a large bend in the nearby Dang River, more than 20 kilometers away from downtown Dunhuang. It was used to film the scenes of Ashina Helu fleeing in panic and Mulan chasing north.

This exterior scene did not involve much construction. Lu Ping only selected a few locations for installing equipment and surveyed and marked several possible camera positions.

The third exterior location is located outside Dunhuang Film and Television City. It is a square platform-shaped hilltop that is five to six meters high and 40 to 50 meters long and wide.

This place was determined to be used to photograph the Tang Army infantry camp where Xiao Siye was stationed. The Western Turkic Army attacked the mountains from all sides, and thousands of Tang Army infantrymen built forts to hold on.

In fact, this mountainous area does not match the actual scene of the decisive battle, because it is an isolated mountaintop and is not part of the canyon. There are no hills opposite the mountaintop where cavalry can be stationed.

The advantage is that this place does not belong to any nature reserve. As long as you have greeted the local manager, the crew can dig and build whatever they want, without any taboos.

As for the hills and cavalry allies that Guyuehe cannot see, they can only rely on adding special effects and then synthesizing them later.

When Chen Yiming arrived, the scene set-up was basically completed.

A trench one and a half meters wide and two and a half meters deep at the foot of the mountain has been dug, with two inner and outer trenches dug, with fences and horses in the middle so that the defenders can cover each other.

The turning point of the decisive battle in the Gobi was when Mulan led the Tang cavalry to swarm down from here, defeat the infantry sent by Ashinahelu to monitor, and raid the flanks of the Western Turkic army that besieged the Tang army's infantry camp.

The last exterior location is a low and shallow depression, in the opposite direction of the first two exterior locations, on the other side of Dunhuang Film and Television City.

The final decisive battle will be filmed here, with Mulan's cavalry and Xiao Siye's infantry attacking from both sides and defeating Ashinahelu's most elite royal army.

In addition to the five locations used to shoot the decisive battle in the desert, there are two locations mainly used for the narrative shots at the end of the film.

One is the nationally renowned and beautiful Crescent Moon Spring Oasis, and the other is the West Lake Wetland, which is full of vitality and rich in water and grass.

The plot here is used to conclude Mulan's legendary experience of taking root in the frontier, regardless of political disputes, and never marrying for the rest of her life.

From the standpoint of modern people, the harmony and stability of the people's lives under the rule is undoubtedly the highest compliment to Mulan's life value.

In addition, the crew will also shoot a small amount of scenes in Dunhuang Film and Television City, shooting a few sporadic barracks and interior shots.
