Chapter 1372 We Have Silicon Valley

Chapter 1372 We Have Silicon Valley (Third update, please subscribe)
What is this world?
It is purely a jungle, and in this jungle there are herbivores and carnivores.

Herbivores feed on the grass in their territory, while carnivores feed on herbivores. They are at the top of the food chain.

In this upper level of the food chain, there are different animals, including tigers, lions, jackals, and all kinds of carnivores that make up this food chain.

Li Yian has always believed that he is a black panther in the jungle. He lurks in the corners of the jungle, pounces out at the right time, and bites his prey.

These prey can be rabbits or tigers, it just depends on the time!

The black panther may not be the king of the jungle, but it is the most threatening in the jungle. Most of the time, it lurks quietly.

Just like a behind-the-scenes player, he hides quietly behind the scenes, waiting for the right time to plunder his prey.

As a behind-the-scenes player, you can both create opportunities and manipulate them.

But how to manipulate everything?

In the past few years, Li Yian has been thinking about this problem. On the one hand, as an "old friend", he is paying attention to the situation of old friends and has established a deep friendship with them, and on the other hand, he is manipulating everything through appropriate deployment.

After the study fell into silence again, Li Yian stood up from his desk, then silently walked across the room, walked to the glass window on the south wall, and stared at the garden outside the window.

"Britain, it seems Macmillan can save it..."

As long as nothing happened to that woman Christine, Profumo would not lie to the House of Commons, leading to McGillen's resignation.

And what does this mean?

This means that Britain will continue to maintain a tough stance on issues such as colonies. In other words, the road to independence for the colonies will become more difficult. Of course, the company's investments in East Africa and other places will be safer.

Of course, there was another benefit from this matter - a favor from Profumo, even leverage, and a high-level socialite who was involved in dealings with the dignitaries in London.

Don't underestimate socialites. If used properly, they can not only help you obtain a lot of intelligence, but can even be used as weapons when necessary. Moreover, there are very few socialites like her who can travel between the East and the West.

"Well, that's a good thing!"

With a smile, Li Yian withdrew his gaze and left the rest of the matter to Cheng Pengan. As for what he could gain in the end.

No one knows now, but who knows if it will be useful in the future?

In fact, many layouts are like this. When some seeds are just planted, no one knows what use they will be in the future, but one thing is certain: when the seeds are planted, they will sprout one day and grow into a towering tree in due time.

Just like that, Li Yian stood by the window and smoked his cigar silently. The dusk outside the window was already thick. The red light of the cigar butt was reflected on the window, flickering.

Staring out the window, thinking about England and London, Li Yian's mouth curled up slightly and he said to himself:
"I should take some time to go to England to see them and their children..."

……

Of course, this is just an idea. Even if the Global Express supersonic business jet is put into use in the future, it is impossible to achieve it just as we think.

In fact, Li Yian was tied down by various affairs every day, leaving him busy all the time. When he finally found some time, he had to take time out to go to Wanhujiao.

The convoy was speeding on the highway. Although the convoy was heavily guarded and there were several Warrior off-road vehicles following in front and behind, there was no traffic control, and occasionally some vehicles would even overtake the convoy.

When a car passed by, Li Yian's mouth corners slightly raised, the smile on his face became more and more intense, looking at the car passing by outside the window, and smiled:
"Zheyuan, do you still remember what this highway looked like when it was first completed?"

Zhang Zheyuan quickly replied:

"Of course I remember. At that time, there were no cars on the road at all. Even if there were, they were only some trucks transporting goods."

"Yes!"

Looking out the car window, Li Yian said:
"Yes, when this highway was completed, there were no cars on the road, but now..."

As he finished speaking, another car passed the convoy.

"There are more and more cars on the road now..." To a large extent, cars are a reflection of the economy. As people's income increases, cars have entered thousands of households and become the most common means of transportation. This is also the change that has taken place in this land.

"Look at that plantation, it's all oil palm. Zheyuan, do you remember when we first came here, it was all rainforest..."

While chatting with Zhang Zheyuan, the convoy sped all the way. After passing the checkpoint and entering Wanhujiao, Li Yian and his party came to the headquarters of Space Exploration Technology Company. Here, he finally saw the drawings of the giant rocket he had been dreaming of.

"...The first stage of the rocket contains three Prometheus rockets. Each Prometheus rocket has nine methane oxygen engines, each with a thrust of 3 tons. Our target thrust is 9 to 130 tons. It has a total of 140 engines and can generate about 150 to 27 tons of thrust during launch. Its thrust will be much greater than that of the Saturn V..."

When Eugene was reporting, Yuan Jialiu, the general manager of Space Exploration Technologies Corporation, just stood quietly by. As a company manager, he rarely interfered in technical matters. Although he was also an outstanding physicist, most of the time he was just doing coordination work.

For example, the development and production of methane engines, and of course the overall production of future rockets. Its parts need to be produced by thousands of companies, and then transported to the launch site by plane and ship for final assembly. Everything needs to be coordinated by him.

This time, the reason why he specially invited you to come here was not only to show him the overall design of the rocket, but also for some other reasons, such as financial support.

However, compared to the engineers' pride, looking at the rocket drawings in front of him, especially the three-finger rocket, what Li Yian thought of in his mind was the Falcon Heavy - except that it is bigger and more powerful!

The total thrust is about 4000 tons. How can it not be powerful?

This is the stuff used for moon landing!

But how on earth did they come up with this structure?
Li Yian turned his gaze to Qian Fukang, the chief engineer of the rocket.

It has to be said that sometimes, engineering technology is always connected. It is not surprising that different paths lead to the same result.

Although he felt some emotion in his heart, Li Yian was more worried.

“27 engines!”

Looking at the tail nozzle on the drawing, Li Yian asked with some concern:
"Can the engine control problem be solved? It must be very difficult to control so many engines in parallel. After all, the more engines there are, not only will there be more problems such as vibration, but it will also be more prone to failure!"

The Soviet Union, which was unable to produce high-thrust rocket engines, chose to connect 30 engines in parallel, which was three more than what SpaceX had.

The reason why SpaceX chose to connect multiple small-thrust rockets in parallel is also because of insufficient thrust.

However, there are many problems with this plan!
The Soviet Union's N1 rocket failed several times in test launches. Now SpaceX is adopting a similar plan. Will it be successful?
In terms of spending money, the company certainly cannot afford to spend as much as the Soviet Union, let alone the United States. And to some extent, the company also needs to consider how to make a profit.

After all, SpaceX is essentially a company, and it certainly cannot survive solely on investment from NBC and projects in the UK, Australia, Canada and New Zealand.

The key is to achieve commercial operation!

The cost of building each of these giant rockets is extremely staggering. If they fail after a few test launches, it would be a huge loss.

Therefore, Li Yian had such concerns, and Qian Fukang, who had been silent all along, explained after hearing your question:
"Sir, it is precisely because of this consideration that we have adopted this somewhat special plan. It is equivalent to connecting three rockets with nine engines each in parallel. In this way, compared with connecting 27 rockets in parallel, it is more reliable, and the problem of coupled resonance will further reduce the possibility of failure..."

Afterwards, Qian Fukang explained their ideas and the original intention of the design bit by bit.

"Of course, this also brings a problem, that is, the three rocket bodies will cause the rocket to be overweight as a whole. This is also the reason why it has greater thrust, but it can only send 100 tons of objects into low Earth orbit, while the Saturn V can transport 130 tons of objects. This is not only because the Prometheus rocket has a greater weight, but also has a direct relationship with the hydrogen-oxygen engine selected by the Saturn V. The hydrogen-oxygen engine has a greater specific impulse and can achieve higher efficiency."

This is true. Although liquid oxygen-methane engines use the cheapest fuel, their specific impulse is indeed not as good as hydrogen-oxygen engines. Among the fuel combinations for rocket engines, liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen have the highest specific impulse, far surpassing other fuels.

In comparison, the liquid oxygen-methane engine still has certain advantages. Like the hydrogen-oxygen engine, it is a dual-cryogenic liquid rocket engine. Its vacuum specific impulse is theoretically higher than that of the liquid oxygen-kerosene engine used by Russia.

It is precisely because of the difference in the engines that SpaceX has embarked on a completely different path from the United States and the Soviet Union. The United States, which is technologically advanced and wealthy, chose hydrogen-oxygen engines, while the Soviet Union chose liquid oxygen-kerosene engines.

Three completely different rockets, three completely different paths!

This has allowed human space technology to develop further. But to what extent will these three paths push human aviation technology?
I'm afraid only God knows!
Li Yian nodded, but did not speak. Instead, he listened to Qian Fukang's introduction. At the end, he emphasized:
"As for the control of the rocket, I don't think that's a problem,"

Looking at the Excellency in front of him, Qian Fukang said:
"Because we have the best electronic technology in the world, and we also have your "Lee's Law" - the number of transistors that can be accommodated on an integrated circuit will double approximately every 18-24 months, and the performance will also double. In addition, we also have Silicon Valley. I believe that in the next few years, the high-performance processors provided by Silicon Valley will meet our needs for rocket control..."
