Chapter 805: Five Poisons, Six Desires, Seven Emotions, and Eight Sufferings
Perhaps it was because Tang Yuan inexplicably ignored his own magic, when facing Monk Huineng, Bodhisattva Dahuanxi did not directly use the magic of heaven and man to engage in a mental game with him.
Instead, she stretched out her slender, jade-white fingers and gently moved her mind. White lotuses blossomed out of thin air beside the Great Joyful Bodhisattva, making the already dignified beauty even more holy.
Her beautiful eyes were lowered, with a look of compassion and pity on her face. She really was like a bodhisattva who had come down to earth to save all living beings, making people want to bow down and worship her.
Moreover, this white lotus is not only for decoration. Wherever the lotus blooms, the spiritual energy and vitality are locked and can only be used by Great Joyful Bodhisattva.
If white lotuses were allowed to bloom all over this world, then this place would naturally become her home.
Even if a True Immortal has a breath of innate Qi and can display magical powers in a spiritual place, he will naturally be at a disadvantage due to the huge difference in vital energy, and may even be slowly worn down to death!
The white lotus bloomed extremely quickly, one divided into two, two divided into four, four divided into eight, and almost in the blink of an eye, the area of a thousand miles was transformed into an endless sea of lotus.
Zen Master Huineng had already sensed the feeling of being restricted everywhere, so he made a prompt decision and immediately formed a swastika seal with his hands and blasted it in all directions.
Along with the sound of gas explosions, countless gaps were blown out of thin air in the lotus sea, and petals were scattered between heaven and earth, showing its sad beauty.
However, no matter how hard Zen Master Huineng tried, and how he blasted out countless large hand seals in an instant, the speed at which the lotus was destroyed could not catch up with the speed at which the flower bloomed.
At the same time, Huineng also felt that the big handprint he had swung was like being stuck in a quagmire, and its power was getting weaker and weaker. He knew that this was because the white lotus was locking up his vital energy. If he could not escape in time, the consequences would be disastrous.
Therefore, Monk Huineng bowed his head and chanted the Buddha's name:
"Namo Amitabha."
Along with a sacred and ancient breath, billions of rays of light emanated from the top of its head, and the light illuminated all directions. Wherever the Buddha's light reached, the white lotuses withered.
"The Buddha's light shines everywhere in the ten directions and everything is extinguished!"
This is the best secret technique of Buddha’s light in the Pure Land of Vaiśa!
Pusa was overjoyed to see that his magical power had been broken, but he did not show any emotion at all. Instead, he covered his mouth and chuckled, saying, "Holy monk, you have magical powers. I am so happy!"
Then she gently stretched out her jade feet, which were as delicate as white porcelain, and stepped lightly on the air. A pink mist floated out and dissipated between heaven and earth in an instant.
Then those broken lotuses gathered together and turned into a ninth-grade lotus platform. The Bodhisattva of Joy lay on it on her side, with her long hair loose and her body swaying, showing the most beautiful side of the woman.
Even when Tang Yuan saw this scene, he couldn't help but admire in his heart that Great Joy Bodhisattva really knew how to have fun!
The lotus has a very high status in Buddhism and is one of the eight treasures. The lotus pedestal is a sacred object that only Buddha, Bodhisattva and Arhat can sit on. However, she forcibly transformed it into a love bed for indulgence.
However, the more sacred and noble something is, the stronger the desire it brings after its fall, just like the beautiful woman who is lying on her side on the holy lotus platform at this moment, with a solemn look, like a real Bodhisattva.
After trying for a while, Great Joy Bodhisattva finally used his most proficient heavenly magic!
Even the souls watching the battle in the lower world, seeing such a beautiful body, couldn't help but feel a fire of desire in their hearts.
It was only with the help of some tricks by the earthly and celestial immortals that the spiritual altars of the cultivators were able to regain clarity. However, this also indirectly shows how terrifying the evil way of Great Joy Bodhisattva is.
Just looking through the two worlds is enough to shake the mind of a true immortal. If one were in between, what kind of storms and waves would one feel in his heart?
Even Tang Yuan was worried about Monk Huineng. Among the eighty-one difficulties that Monk Tang encountered in his journey to the West to obtain Buddhist scriptures, the most difficult one was the Kingdom of Women.
If you indulge in lust all your life, it will be difficult to become a Buddha!
The Bodhisattva of Joy stepped lightly with her jade feet, and walked slowly to the side of Monk Huineng. She stroked his face with her slender white fingers and rubbed his ears, showing how intimate they were.
Monk Huineng lowered his eyebrows, clasped his hands together, and kept chanting Buddhist scriptures to resist the evil spirit of Great Joy Bodhisattva.
The battle scene between the two great spirits suddenly became extremely weird and erotic.
Such a scene left the little fox dumbfounded, and he felt that his knowledge had been greatly broadened.
However, although there was no grand scene of supernatural power confrontation like before, it was the most dangerous one among the several battles that had already occurred. The game of mind and the battle of soul, as long as one step was wrong, the whole game would be lost.
Moreover, if one thinks that the magic of the Great Joy Bodhisattva is only to seduce people with female beauty, then one is underestimating this long-time earthly immortal whose name is so great that he is feared by many spirits and demons in the northern border!
From the heart arises desire, from desire arises love, from love arises sorrow, from love arises fear.
The secret method of the celestial and charming way practiced by the Bodhisattva of Great Joy was derived from the great way of transformation and freedom. It uses the body as a lure and desire as a hook. Anyone who is moved will sink into the five poisons, six desires, seven emotions, and eight sufferings, and will eventually sink into the sea of suffering and be unable to cross.
From this perspective, it is somewhat similar to Qi Shanfu's way of suffering in the past.
However, any magical skills that involve the mind and soul cannot escape the sea of suffering.
Since there was no progress on the field, Fang Xisheng came over and asked, "I wonder what you think of this victory or defeat."
After Tang Yuan pondered for a moment, he slowly said: "Five poisons, six desires, seven emotions, eight sufferings. As a Buddhist monk, Brother Huineng has long since eliminated the five poisons and nearly eliminated the six desires."
"Even if the Bodhisattva of Joy starts with the six desires, I see that fellow Taoist Huineng has already resisted this barrier. The appearance of a mere color is unlikely to trap an Arhat of the Four Deteriorations."
"But these seven emotions and eight sufferings are the real difficulties: joy, anger, sorrow, worry, fear, and shock; birth, aging, sickness, and death, reunion with those we hate, separation from those we love, and failure to obtain what we desire. The five elements are blazing fiercely."
"It can be said that every barrier is difficult to overcome, but every barrier must be overcome. Even if it is just one emotion that cannot be abandoned and one pain that cannot be overcome, I am afraid that it will be difficult for Daoist friend Huineng to say that he has won this time."
Fang Xisheng heard the words and chanted the famous Buddhist verse: "From love comes worry, from love comes fear. If you are free from love, you will have no worries and no fear."
After hearing the conversation between Tang Fang and Tang Yuan, the Buddhist monks seemed to have thought of something and first chanted a Buddhist name to Fang Xisheng and Tang Yuan.
Then the two monks, one big and one small, actually tested and taught the young monk his lessons on the spot.
The great monk first chanted a Buddhist name, and then said in a deep voice: "Today I will practice the wonderful color king's verse of seeking the Dharma."
The little monk answered "yes" in a very clear voice.
Then the two of them actually asked and answered each other in this way, reviewing the verse in which King Miao Se asked for Dharma.
The young monk replied in his tender voice: "You make your own destiny. Your appearance is determined by your mind. Everything in the world is a transformation. If your mind does not move, nothing will move. If your mind does not change, nothing will change."
The child's voice resounded through the sky, and Monk Huineng actually started to recite along with it. His voice became louder and louder. At the end of the recitation, the monk had already raised his head, and his eyes were calm and steady as he looked towards the Bodhisattva of Joy, without any panic or distractions!
Buddha said: Because of love, there is worry; because of love, there is fear. If you are free from love, there will be no worry and no fear.
Kasyapa: How can one be free from love?
Buddha said: There is no self, no person, no living being, and no life, and that is what it means to be free from love.
Kasyapa: Buddha, there are eight sufferings in life: birth, aging, sickness, death, movement, separation from loved ones, failure to obtain what one desires, and meeting with those one hates. How can one be free from self and form, free from desire and desire?
Buddha said: Love and separation, hatred and reunion, leaving and returning to the west, all are nothing. It is nothing but empty flowers and illusions.
Kasyapa: Buddha, the karma of the world's people is inaction, how can it be easy?
Buddha said: Sow such seeds, reap such fruits, everything is created by the mind.
Kasyapa: How can the hearts of the people in the world reach that?
Buddha said: Sitting is Zen, walking is Zen, one flower is a world, one leaf is a Tathagata. Flowers bloom in spring and leaves fall in autumn. The heart is infinitely free in wisdom, and the body is natural in speech, silence, movement and stillness.
Kasyapa: Where there is karma, there must be a manifestation. The manifestation confuses people’s minds. What do you think?
Buddha said: Destiny is created by oneself, appearance is created by the heart, all things in the world are transformations. If the heart does not move, all things will not move. If the heart does not change, all things will not change.
I will post this Buddhist verse here, but not the main text.
