Chapter 232: Buddhist and Taoist Conflict
After Daoxuan finished speaking to Lin Bei, he introduced another disciple behind him to Lin Bei:
"You are familiar with Chang Jian. This one over here is also your senior brother. His name is Duan Lei."

Lin Bei quickly bowed to his senior brother named Duan Lei:
"Brother Duan Lei."

Duan Lei smiled and greeted Lin Bei:
"Hello, Junior Brother. You don't have to be so polite to me. Just tell me if you need anything."

Lin Bei felt that Daoxuan's disciples were all good people, at least they didn't have that weird jealousy in their hearts.

So he happily said to this new brother:

"Hehe, thank you very much, Senior Brother."

Daoxuan saw that Lin Bei and the other two were acquainted, so he waved his hand and said:
"Okay, let's stop here for today. Go and practice hard. From now on, come here to see me once a month, and I will test your studies.

When you have cultivated to the fourth level of Jade Purity Realm and are able to control objects, I will pass on a magic weapon to you."

Hearing that there were treasures to be won, Lin Bei felt even more satisfied with his joining Tongtian Peak, and he bowed and thanked them immediately:

"Yes, Master, I will take my leave first."

Chang Jian and Duan Lei also bowed and said:
"Master, I will take my leave."

After saying that, the three of them left the quiet room where Daoxuan was practicing together, and Daoxuan sat back on the cushion to meditate.

After Lin Bei and the other two left the quiet room, Duan Lei put his arm around Lin Bei's shoulders in a familiar manner and said with a smile:
"Hey, Junior Brother, you just came to Qingyun Mountain today, right? I'm afraid you are not very familiar with our Tongtian Peak, but don't worry, I will take you to see more in the future."

Lin Bei could naturally feel Duan Lei's kindness towards him, so he cupped his hands and replied:

"Thank you, senior brother."

Chang Jian, who was standing by, slapped Duan Lei on the head and said unhappily:
"Your junior brother is as idle as you, thinking only of playing all day? Didn't you just hear what Master said? Master would test his homework every month.

Master ordered us to guide our junior brothers in their cultivation. If we fail the test, what good will it be for us?"

Duan Lei, who was scolded by Chang Jian, rubbed his head, feeling quite helpless, but he had no way to refute Chang Jian:
"Well, okay, Second Senior Brother, what you said makes sense. Then we can only wait until Junior Junior Brother has achieved success in his training before we can play with him."

Seeing that Duan Lei was still only thinking about taking Lin Bei out to play after saying so much, Chang Jian was so angry that he raised his hand and wanted to slap him again.

However, this time Duan Lei dodged very cleverly and was not hit by Chang Jian. He then turned to look at Lin Bei and said with a smile:

"Hey, even if we can't play now, we still have to eat, right? Come on, little brother, I'll take you to eat something delicious."

As he said that, Duan Lei reached out and pulled Lin Bei and ran away, not giving Chang Jian a chance to react, nor giving Lin Bei time to refuse.

But Chang Jian actually had no intention of stopping them. He just shouted at the two people running away:
"You two, remember to come back early after dinner! I still have to teach my junior brother how to practice Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao!"

Only Duan Lei's reply came back from afar:
"Okay, got it, Second Brother."

While Lin Bei was looking at Duan Lei who was running wildly with him, he now understood his character. He was just a child who still maintained an innocent heart.

Lin Bei didn't mind this, so he just let the other party take him around Tongtian Peak.

However, Duan Lei's strength is still good. It is estimated that he is at least at the fifth or sixth level of Yuqing Realm. He can easily take Lin Bei to fly.

Duan Lei took Lin Bei to stroll around Tongtian Peak for an hour or two before sending Lin Bei back to his own courtyard. Then he ran away before Chang Jian got angry.

When Lin Bei arrived outside his yard, he saw Chang Jian already waiting there, and his face looked unhappy.

Seeing this, Lin Bei liked Chang Jian even better. Although Chang Jian was Lin Bei's senior brother, he did not rely on his status as senior brother to barge into Lin Bei's yard, but waited outside.

Then Lin Bei hurried forward and bowed to apologize:
"Brother Chang Jian, I'm really sorry. Brother Duan Lei might have been too excited and forgot about time while playing with me."

After hearing Lin Bei's sincere apology, Chang Jian's expression became much better. He then shook his head and said:

"I know Duan Lei's temper. This matter has nothing to do with you. Next time I see him, I will teach him a lesson.

But since we are already back late, let's not waste time. Let's go. I will first tell you the rules and regulations of our Qingyun Sect, and then I will teach you how to practice Tai Chi Xuanqing Dao."

After saying that, Chang Jian took the lead and walked towards Lin Bei's yard, and Lin Bei hurriedly followed him in.

The two men came to Lin Bei's yard and sat down opposite each other under the grape vine trellis. Then Chang Jian started to explain the Qingyun Sect's rules and regulations to Lin Bei one by one without wasting any words.

The Qingyun Sect's precepts were not too many, but not too few either. There were twelve sect rules and twenty precepts. Lin Bei remembered almost all of them after just listening to them once.

Chang Jian also knew that his junior apprentice brother had the ability to remember everything he had heard. In addition, the rules and regulations of this sect were relatively broad, so it was not easy for ordinary disciples to violate them. However, there was one rule that Chang Jian specifically reminded Lin Bei of:
"Junior brother, you generally don't have much chance to break other sect rules, but there is one rule that you must remember.

"The magic of our Qingyun Sect is profound and mysterious, and many evil demons and monsters have been trying to spy on it. Now, Master has passed on the cultivation formula of Taiji Xuanqing Dao to you. You must swear a solemn oath that after you have learned it, you will never pass it on to outsiders unless they are disciples of our sect."

Lin Bei thought to himself that the world was full of prejudice, but that was understandable, so he nodded to show that he understood and swore an oath to the heaven.

Chang Jian nodded in satisfaction upon seeing this, and then began to teach Lin Bei the practice secrets of Tai Chi Xuanqing Dao.

“Junior brother, this Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao is the foundation of all the wonderful arts of our sect. It is an unparalleled and mysterious Dao that can seize the good fortune of heaven and earth.

The Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao is divided into three realms: Yuqing, Shangqing and Taiqing. Even though your master has only passed on to you the cultivation methods for the Yuqing realm, you must know that people with ordinary qualifications will never be able to cultivate to the fourth level of Yuqing in their lifetime.

Master has passed on to you all the cultivation methods of the Jade Purity Realm at once, which shows that he has high hopes for you.

I, your senior brother, have only just cultivated to the sixth level of Yuqing.

At present, including the master, there are only about twenty elders in the sect who have broken through the Yuqing level and cultivated to the Shangqing realm. "

Chang Jian first gave Lin Bei a general introduction to the difficulty of practicing Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao, to prevent Lin Bei from finding the practice speed too slow and affecting his mentality.

After briefly introducing the cultivation of Taiji Xuanqing Dao within the sect, Chang Jian continued:
“The practice process of Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao is from easy to difficult. As long as you have a little talent, you can usually complete the first level within a year, but it will become more and more difficult as you go deeper.

The fourth level is a watershed. Even if one has poor aptitude and practices for decades, he or she may not be able to break through to the fourth level. The main reason for this is that only the first three levels of Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao have complete practice methods. From the fourth level onwards, it depends more on the practitioner's own perception and talent.

Other people can only give you some advice, but that is just based on experience, and at most it can help you avoid some detours.

Of course, if one is not qualified enough, this detour will take at least ten years.

However, with your aptitude, I believe that this Jade Purity Realm will not be able to trap you, but you must also remember that the practice of our sect is to proceed step by step, and you must not be greedy and rush into things rashly. "

Hearing Chang Jian's earnest instructions, Lin Bei was very pleased and replied respectfully:

"Yes, I remember Second Brother."

Chang Jian was extremely satisfied with Lin Bei's attitude. He nodded and began to formally teach him the cultivation tips of the first level of Tai Chi Xuanqing Dao:
"Okay, what I'm going to tell you next are some key points that you need to pay attention to in the first level of Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao. You can write them down and slowly comprehend them yourself.

First of all, the most important thing in the first level of Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao is to guide the Qi into the body. In order to guide it, you first need to meditate and feel the spiritual energy of heaven and earth."

Afterwards, Chang Jian proudly explained to Lin Bei the key points of cultivation for more than half an hour, mainly the first level.

Lin Bei summed it up secretly. It was basically about feeling the spiritual energy of heaven and earth, drawing the energy into the body, and circulating it in the body. This way, he could be one with heaven and earth and feel the creation of heaven and earth.

The sign of successful cultivation of the first level is that all the pores in the body are opened, which can guide the spiritual energy to circulate in the body for thirty-six major circles.

Chang Jian disassembled these things into pieces and explained them clearly to Lin Bei. Then he stood up and left Lin Bei's yard, leaving Lin Bei to practice on his own.

He is an extremely dedicated and responsible senior brother.

After Chang Jian left, Lin Bei did not start practicing Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao immediately, but sat there to think and comprehend it carefully.

If Lin Bei had only been exposed to Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao, he might have already gotten the basics of Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao just by listening to Chang Jian's explanation.

After all, the key points of the first level mentioned by Chang Jian, whether it is sensing spiritual energy or freely controlling the acupoints throughout the body, are not difficult for Lin Bei.

As long as he wanted, he could now complete the process of drawing the qi into his body.

But what Lin Bei came into contact with was not only Tai Chi Xuanqing Dao, but also the Mahayana Prajna that he learned from Pu Zhi!
Mahavairocana Prajna, as the supreme skill of Tianyin Temple, was also comprehended from the Heavenly Book, but its practice principle is completely opposite to that of Tai Chi Xuanqing Dao!

Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao advocates comprehending the heaven and earth, connecting with the heaven and earth, and drawing spiritual energy into the body to strengthen oneself.

However, what Mahavairocana Prajna advocates is to cut off all connections between oneself and the outside world during cultivation and to realize oneself, which is the so-called "Heart Sutra"!
All dharmas are empty in nature, neither born nor destroyed, neither defiled nor pure, neither increasing nor decreasing. Therefore, in the void there is no form, no feeling, no perception, no volition, no consciousness, no color, sound, smell, taste, touch, no eye realm, and even no consciousness realm, no ignorance, and no end to ignorance, and even no old age and death, and no end to old age and death, no suffering, no accumulation, no extinction, and no path, no wisdom and no attainment.

Use your own mind as the scripture to achieve cultivation.

But this conflicts with the practice of Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao.

These completely opposite cultivation methods were so contradictory that even with Lin Bei's current level of comprehension, he couldn't think of a perfect solution.

After all, it is impossible for him to maintain the Buddhist state of nirvana while opening up the acupoints all over his body to connect with the outside world.

This is like sealing your nose and mouth and asking you to breathe normally at the same time, which is extremely difficult.

But Lin Bei was unwilling to use the stupid method that Zhang Xiaofan used in the original plot, which was to practice the two techniques alternately until both techniques naturally completed the first level of practice.

That would be too slow. Even with Lin Bei's aptitude, he probably wouldn't be able to succeed in cultivation within one or two months.

And given Lin Bei's current situation, if he cannot complete the first level of Tai Chi Xuanqing Dao in the shortest possible time, he will definitely be suspected.

It can be a little slower, but not too slow, otherwise it will not match the qualifications he has shown.

After thinking hard for a long time without any results, Lin Bei could only go back to bed, sit cross-legged, and prepare to practice both techniques separately to see the specific situation.

After all, there is a saying that goes, practice makes perfect.

Of the two techniques, Lin Bei chose to practice Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao first. After all, Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao, a method of practicing to draw in spiritual energy from the outside world, was more in line with the practice method in Lin Bei's memory. Lin Bei was quite experienced in this method of practice.

And the fact was just as Lin Bei expected. In just a cup of tea, he had successfully sensed the spiritual energy between heaven and earth and had initially completed the process of drawing the energy into his body.

And as soon as he completed the process of drawing the energy into his body, Lin Bei could control the spiritual energy to circulate in his body for six complete cycles.

If it weren't for the fact that although Lin Bei's body is strong now, he is still not very adapted to the spiritual energy, Lin Bei feels that he might not be able to complete the first level of Tai Chi Xuanqing Dao cultivation in the first try.

After practicing Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao once, Lin Bei began to practice Mahayana Prajna.

As soon as I started practicing, I felt the difference.

All the acupoints in Lin Bei's body that had been opened before were now closed by Lin Bei himself. Without the source of spiritual energy from the outside world, the spiritual energy in Lin Bei's body began to gradually dissipate.

Afterwards, as Lin Bei's consciousness subsided, another force emerged from Lin Bei's body. Different from the spiritual power introduced into the body by Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao, this force came from Lin Bei himself, gushing out from Lin Bei's soul and filling his body.

However, similar to the Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao, this power also circulates throughout Lin Bei's body.

After controlling this power to circulate in his body for six cycles, Lin Bei stopped practicing, slowly opened his eyes, with a thoughtful look in his eyes.

“No wonder in the original story, Zhang Xiaofan spent three years just to learn the first level of these two techniques.

As soon as my Tai Chi Xuan Qing Dao opened all the acupoints in my body and led the Qi into my body, the Great Brahma Prajna became autistic. The spiritual energy in my body lost its source and naturally dissipated slowly like water without roots.

The magical power of Mahabrahma Prajna will only be generated when I enter the state of nirvana, almost without thoughts and consciousness. When I start to practice Tai Chi Xuanqing Dao, the magical power of Mahabrahma Prajna will gradually disappear.

The two interfere with each other, so it's impossible for the speed to be fast."
