Chapter 361 Master, you and I are from the same hometown, Dinghaizhu

"what happened?"

Jiaye was a little puzzled: "I heard that Buddhism is flourishing in the Tang Dynasty. Is there anyone who comes to the temple to offend me?"

"It shouldn't be that serious... This humble temple was built by the imperial decree of the former Empress Wu Zetian. The current emperor has been honoring and favoring us for many years out of consideration for our old friendship. Even the royal family and dignitaries are not allowed to offend us."

Master Fawu's mind moved slightly, he looked at the old monk in the cassock, frowned and said: "Brother Fayuan, you have always been careful in your work, how come you were careless today and let a lowly person come and offend the Master? It is really rude."

"Brother Abbot, I also know that today's matter is of great importance, so I have specially arranged more than a hundred elite monks to guard outside the gate..."

Monk Fayuan naturally didn't want to take the blame, and quickly explained: "But that old man has magic, and as soon as we rushed to him, he was thrown two or three feet away and fell to the ground unable to move. I saw that I couldn't stop him, so I came in to report it."

"It shouldn't be a demonic spell. With my cultivation, if there is even the slightest demonic aura, I can sense it without any hindrance."

"Besides, all the fellow Taoists here have gathered their Buddha power, so even the demon king would not dare to offend easily."

Kasyapa put his hands together and said: "Since the visitor has revealed our origins, I think he is not an ordinary person. Please enlighten me, ancient Buddha."

"We have come here to spread the Dharma and to defeat demons. How can we retreat? Let's go out and take a look."

Dipankara Buddha pondered for a moment, then stepped down from the altar and said, "Our Buddhist sect has always been broad-minded and tolerant. If anyone here has wisdom, I will personally convert him to Buddhism, and it will be a good story in the future."

He was originally a foreigner. It was only after Amitabha Buddha promised him a high position that Ran Deng joined Buddhism.

But after joining, Ran Deng discovered that monks were not indifferent to the four elements at all, but were more concerned with power and factions.

Although his status in Buddhism is comparable to that of the Buddha, he is not one of the elders of Buddhism, and his cultivation is far inferior to that of Amitabha Buddha, Tathagata Buddha and others, which leads to a rather embarrassing situation.

Normally he can only command some small Kalami such as Arhats, Jietis and Bhikkhus.

As Mahakasyapa was a direct disciple of the Buddha, he often pretended to obey him but actually disobeyed him.

Now even Zhu Bajie, the good-for-nothing, dares to oppose his orders to his face...

Thinking that he was scolded by a pig, although Dipankara Buddha looked indifferent, he was very angry in his heart.

Well, Zhu Bajie naturally has to find an opportunity to teach him a lesson.

But the key is to cultivate some reliable subordinates!

You really can't rely on others for this kind of thing, you can only do it yourself.

"Follow the ancient Buddhist teachings!"

Kasyapa, Zhu Bajie, and even a group of guardian gods and monks of the Tang Dynasty are very familiar with this process.

The crowd lined up according to their status and walked out of the temple in turn, one in front and one in the back.

***
Outside the Xingjiao Temple, more than a hundred guarding monks were lying on the ground, unable to move.

The ground was littered with broken swords and iron rods, and it looked like a mess.

"Why bother? Why bother?"

The Master straightened his clothes and walked leisurely into the shade of the tree, his back straight.

The Master values courtesy!

"Amitabha! I am Fawu, honored to be the abbot of the Tang Dynasty's Huguo Xingjiao Temple."

Master Fa Wu pushed open the gate, frowned and sighed, "I wonder why this donor came here to commit murder and hurt people?"

"I just asked the manager of this place to come and meet me, and this group of evil servants said that I was rude and slandered Buddha."

The Master said calmly, “Even so, I still treated them with courtesy and convinced them with virtue, and did not compete with these evil servants.”

"Treat others with courtesy? Convince others with virtue?"

Master Fa Wu looked at the half-dead monk on the ground, his old face twitched: "Is this the 'virtue' of the donor?"

"They fell before I could even exert any strength."

"Huh? What?"

"This group of evil servants had no moral principles. They surrounded and attacked me, and even tried to kill me. I taught them a lesson, but they deserved it."

The Master said calmly: "We should set a good example for the world. If we repay evil with good, how can the world repay us?"

"Amitabha! Junior Brother Fayuan, is this true?"

Master Fawu was silent for a moment and kicked the ball to his junior fellow apprentice.

Although the style of painting is a bit weird.

But looking at the situation, it is indeed very similar to what the old man said.

I have a group of over a hundred monks, and I tricked and ambushed a 70-year-old man, but we were beaten badly by him...

If this gets out, it will be embarrassing for us.

"Amitabha! The old donor slandered my Buddhist guardian monk as an evil servant in front of several respected teachers. I think he must be a heretic."

Monk Fayuan sighed and said, "I dare to ask you to spare his life and allow him to convert to Buddhism for his old age. This will be a good story."

Jiaye had already said that the old man was not a monster, and that his hundred or so monks were unable to defeat an old man, so it was his own fault no matter what.

Dwelling on this topic will only make things worse.

Monk Fayuan thought it would be better to remove the fire from under the cauldron.

As long as the ancient Buddha Dipankara persuades him to convert, this old man will become one of the "insiders" of Buddhism, and today's events will just be laughed off.

"Buddhist guardian monk?"

The Master's mind was slightly moved, and he asked, "I originally thought that these people had leprosy, which caused their hair to fall out, and that's why they were bald. Could it be that all of you Buddhists look so weird?"

"Amitabha! Why do you ask when you know the answer?"

Master Fawu wanted to show off in front of the Buddha Dipankara, and said with a smile: "The world is full of right and wrong. We have shaved our heads and become monks, so we should get rid of all the worries, get rid of worldly concerns, study Buddhism, save all sentient beings, and have immeasurable merits."

"What nonsense! Hair is just hair. What does it have to do with whether you are worried or not? I only know that my hair is given by my parents. I dare not damage it. This is the beginning of filial piety."

"Oh, by the way, you said you wanted to let go of worldly concerns..."

The Master frowned slightly and sighed, "You shaved your hair because you have no parents or elders at home? I am very sorry for offending you."

"Old donor, what you said is wrong."

Master Fa Wu looked a little unhappy, frowning and saying, "A monk should be free from the four elements and cut off from the worldly affairs. There is no difference between parents and sentient beings."

"That's unreasonable!"

The Master's face turned pale with anger: "You were born and raised by your parents, and you just need to say 'the four elements are empty, cut off the worldly affairs'? Do you know what the word 'filial piety' means?"

"..."

Zen Master Fawu looked at the ancient Buddha Dipankara cautiously and closed his mouth.

The thought of Indian Buddhism is quite pure.

I believe that people are all subject to the cycle of cause and effect, and that all beings are each other’s parents and children.

You may be his parents in this life and his children in the next. Everything is a temporary dependency. If you take it too seriously, it will seem absurd, stubborn and unable to see through it.

According to this line of thinking, the emperor's parents have lost their authority, and Buddha is the only belief, in order to understand through all illusions.

Therefore, in the early Buddhist scriptures, there is no record at all of eminent monks repaying their parents.

But when this idea spread to Middle-earth, it was seen as too contemptuous of human ethics and was disliked by many people.

Therefore, after Buddhism was localized, the concept of "filial piety" was indeed introduced.

But the Buddhist filial piety is completely different from that of Confucianism.

Money cannot be given to parents.

After all, Buddhism emphasizes detachment from the five desires and six dusts, and money is karma.

In theory, the money was also given to the Buddha, and at most it was just managed by the monks.

Therefore, Buddhism advocates compassion, doing good deeds and accumulating virtue, so that these merits can be "dedicated" to parents, in return for their kindness in raising them, and so that parents can be reincarnated and be reborn into a good life.

Buddhism believes that this concept of filial piety is the true filial piety, which is far superior to Confucianism.

But at that time, this concept had not yet been fully formed and there was no classic support.

Master Fawu thought about it and felt that it would be better to remain silent.

After all, the more you talk, the more mistakes you make.

What if my words displease the Buddha Dipankara? Then people will accuse me of misinterpreting the Buddhist scriptures and being disloyal to the Buddha...

That would be bad luck!

"Well done, well done. I am Kasyapa, a disciple of the Buddha. In my opinion, although the old donor is quite quick-witted, his intention is still shallow."

Seeing the monks bowing their heads and pretending to be dead, Venerable Kasyapa laughed and shook his head, then walked out confidently: "Filial piety has different degrees. Monks like us leave our parents, but we do not abandon them. I feel that the so-called providing food and clothing, treating each other with courtesy, and bringing honor to the family are all the self-righteous filial piety of secular Confucianism, and are just 'small filial piety' that is not worth mentioning."

"Oh? Do you also have filial piety in Buddhism?"

The Master's expression eased a little: "Then what is the greatest filial piety?"

"I feel that Buddhas should be compassionate. Giving up family ties and concerns is all for the sake of saving all living beings. It is also giving up small filial piety to achieve great filial piety."

Venerable Kasyapa smiled and said, "If you can diligently observe the precepts, practice diligently, and attain enlightenment one day, you will be able to help your parents go to the Western Paradise, where they will enjoy eternal life, peace and tranquility. Isn't that far better than those foolish men and women in the world?"

"Achieve the right result and transcend your parents?"

The Master nodded and looked at the monks lying all over the ground: "Can they all help their parents to go to the Western Paradise?"

"…I'm afraid that won't work."

Venerable Kashyapa was stunned for a moment and shook his head.

"How many people can do that?"

"Amitabha! I only want to say that if they can attain Buddhahood, they can save all living beings, liberate their parents, and achieve great filial piety."

"But their wisdom and nature are different, and each has his own karma. I cannot speak rashly."

Venerable Kasyapa showed an extremely mysterious smile at the corner of his mouth: "The great road of Buddhism is in one's own nature, and all dharmas can be seen. If you, old donor, join my Buddhist sect, you will be able to get a glimpse of the great truth." With flickering golden light, dark golden lotus flowers appeared beside Kasyapa, blooming and falling, birth and death are impermanent.

When the flowers bloom, it seems as if the world is created; when the flowers fall, all things are silent and cause and effect cycle continues.

The mysterious smile contains countless great truths and the impermanence of heaven and earth.

The Buddha picked up a flower and Kasyapa smiled, and that was the beginning of Zen Buddhism!

"Your Excellency is extremely merciful!"

All the gods and monks smiled as if they had suddenly realized something, as if they had seen their true nature.

"There are three thousand great ways, but they all lead to the same destination. Even if there is a great truth, it doesn't necessarily have to be found in your Buddhist sect."

"As a disciple of the Buddha, can you achieve enlightenment? Can you save all living beings?"

The Master glanced at the Udumbara flower casually, shook his head and asked, "Are your parents now enjoying eternal life in the Western Paradise, peaceful and comfortable?"

"Amitabha! You, old donor, have a deep prejudice against my Buddhist sect. You have a demon in your heart that you don't even know it. I'm afraid I can't save you."

Kasyapa was silent for a long time, then he sighed and said, "Please ask the ancient Buddha to use the supreme mantra to subdue the heretics."

"The old donor was able to compete with the Dharmakaya of the Venerable Kasyapa. His mind is as steady as a rock. Even a few words from me cannot shake his mind."

"Today we are here to enlighten sentient beings and make all the people in this world believe in Buddhism. We do not have the time to debate with the old donor. Please do not be offended."

Dipankara Buddha secretly held up his Dinghai Pearl and said with a smile, "Wuneng, as a Dharma protector of Buddhism, I'll have to trouble you to take the lead."

"what?"

Zhu Bajie was also unequivocal, and quickly shook his head and muttered, "I won't go! This old man looks very powerful, and I have an empty stomach, how can I fight?"

"..."

A few black lines appeared on the forehead of the Buddha of Burning Lamp. "I still have a few pieces of lotus root in my sleeves, which were given to me by Taiyi Zhenren in the past. If you can subdue the heretics, I will give them to you as encouragement."

"Immortal lotus root?"

Zhu Bajie was stunned: "It's Nezha, right?"

Dipamkara Buddha: “…”

"Oh, Buddha, please stop talking. I understand."

Zhu Bajie scratched his head and said with a flattering smile, "Why is the Buddha so polite? Since the Buddha has spoken, I, an old pig, will go through fire and water without a single complaint."

"Then I'll wait and see."

Dipamkara Buddha gritted his teeth secretly and forced a smile.

Although he is ruthless and unscrupulous, he still pays attention to his status on the surface.

There is really no good way to deal with a shameless scoundrel like Zhu Bajie.

"Old sir, you can see that I, Old Pig, have no choice but to offend you."

Zhu Bajie walked up to the Master in a carefree manner and waved his hand: "I, Old Zhu, have always used this spiked rake. Old sir, do you have a better weapon?"

The power of Buddha surged, and an extremely huge nine-toothed mace appeared in Zhu Bajie's hand.

The spiked rake is exquisitely crafted, with nine-toothed jade fangs and double-ringed gold pendant leaves.

As it shook, there was a billowing Buddha flame and a brilliant light!
"You are quite polite, pig demon. Hmm, this rake looks nice too."

The Master nodded and drew out the sword of virtue: "This sword is called 'virtue'. You can make your move."

"This bronze sword is quite... huh? De... De, De sword?"

As if he had thought of something, Zhu Bajie's eyes showed a look of horror: "Old, old gentleman, is your surname Kong?"

"My surname is Kong and my given name is Qiu. People call me 'Master'."

The Master was somewhat puzzled: "Am I so famous in the future? Even a pig demon has heard of my name. Then I will let you have three moves."

"No, no, no! Master, don't do that!"

Zhu Bajie was sweating: "I, I'm from Bian Zhuang, we're from the same hometown!"

"Bian Zhuangzi? Yes, there is indeed such a person among the officials of Lu State."

The Master frowned slightly: "Didn't you die on the battlefield a long time ago? How did you become a pig demon of Buddhism?"

"Although I died in battle, the Heavenly Court happened to be short of people, so they luckily recruited me to heaven. The Jade Emperor also took a fancy to me and gave me the position of Marshal of the Heavenly Troops."

Zhu Bajie wiped his sweat and quickly put away the nine-toothed rake: "As for the pig demon, it's a long story. Master, don't hit me. Let's have some wine and cut a plate of pig head meat later, and talk while we eat."

Faced with such a powerful enemy that he could not afford to offend, Zhu Bajie remained quite honest.

Then again, he was quite obedient to the Jade Emperor...

The Jade Emperor does not allow gods to fall in love casually.

This guy understood the situation and planned to skip the love part and just force himself on her...

But the Jade Emperor was very dissatisfied and demoted him to a pig.

Of course, this is what he brought upon himself.

"Since we are acquaintances, this is fine..."

"When I heard that you were killed in battle, I asked Zilu to help you collect your body. But Zilu said that after you killed hundreds of people, you were surrounded by the army and chopped into minced meat. There was no way to collect your body."

The Master shook his head and put away the sword of virtue: "Zilu said that your miserable condition was the only one he had ever seen. After he came back, he sighed to me."

"Zilu?"

Zhu Bajie grinned and said: "The miserable state of my old pig is probably not the only one he has ever seen in his life. He will have the chance to see it again in the future."

"what?"

"Let's not talk about this first..."

Zhu Bajie walked up to Randeng with a swagger and said, "Buddha Randeng, Confucius is my fellow villager. It is not appropriate for me to take action. Let's just forget it."

"Since you have entered my Buddhist sect, you should have cut off worldly ties long ago. How can you talk about fellow villagers?"

Dipankara Buddha said coldly: "As a Bodhisattva, could it be that you still don't have a single bit of Zen mind? Do you want me to expel you from Buddhism?"

"Is there such a good thing?"

Zhu Bajie was overjoyed: "Buddha, you must keep your word! Please expel me from the Buddhist sect immediately so that I can go back to Gao Village to find my wife."

"...Zhu Bajie, please get off! Stop talking nonsense!"

Dipankara Buddha was so angry that he almost spat out a mouthful of blood. He said angrily: "This pig is a disciple of Jin Chanzi, and is also the nephew of Venerable Kasyapa. I wonder what advice Venerable Kasyapa has for you?"

"Amitabha, I never thought that Confucius would come today. No wonder I find it so hard to convince him!"

Kasyapa sighed and said, "Master is the founder of Confucianism, and is equal to the Buddha and the Taoist. If I, a poor monk, seek the Master's advice alone, it would be too disrespectful."

"Confucianism? The Buddha, the Taoist Patriarch... OK, I think I understand."

The Master nodded and said, "I never thought that you monks would follow the rules of the martial world. Let's just go together and save trouble."

"The status of the ancient Buddha Dipankara is respected, so let him be the notary. I will join hands with other fellow monks to seek advice from the Master."

Kasyapa sighed and transformed into the dazzling Arhat's true body: "I am sorry for the offense!"

"Amitabha!"

The eight classes of celestial dragons, the six Dings and six Jias, as well as the guardian Kāśyapa and a group of monks all sat cross-legged and chanted the Buddha's name loudly.

The vast Buddha's power gathered and transformed into a golden lotus flower that reached from sky to earth, as if it had lasted for eternity.

The void shook, and under the urging of Kasyapa, the golden lotus flower rushed towards the Master like a star.

"Well done!"

The Master's expression remained unchanged. He stretched out his left hand and suddenly blocked the golden lotus that was crushing towards him.

"middle!"

At this moment, the ancient Buddha Dipankara suddenly stood up and raised his left hand outward.

The Buddha's light shines for thousands of miles. Twenty-four Dinghai Pearls shoot out at the same time and transform into twenty-four gods.

The heavens rapidly collapsed and turned into a black hole-like body, which crushed towards the Master with the aura of collapsing stars.

"It's good that you came!"

The Master stood up and laughed, then stretched out his right hand and grabbed the Dinghai Pearl without giving in.

Amid the explosion that sounded like shattering stars, the Master snorted softly, his body swayed slightly, his expression remained calm.

"Master, we will never meet again!"

The ancient Buddha Ran Deng breathed a sigh of relief, revealed a strange smile, and raised his right hand.

The sound of Sanskrit chanting coming from nowhere resounded throughout the world, and a branch emitting pure light suddenly appeared in the palm of Dipamkara Buddha.

The flowers are raining down in profusion, and the treasures are majestic and solemn.

The Buddha Dipamkara gently brushed the branches, thousands of auspicious auras flowed, and a ray of colorful divine light suddenly brushed towards the Master.

"Nothing will happen indefinitely."

Almost at the same time, a cold and ethereal female voice sounded.

Along with the woman's voice, a pink hydrangea with a diameter of about one foot and a necklace and hanging pearls fell from thirty-three days away.

It was as if a red sun appeared in the sky and the surrounding space collapsed.

As if it sensed the coming of great terror, the Seven Treasures Wonderful Tree forcibly retracted the seven-colored divine light and suddenly brushed upwards.

The hydrangea fell, and the bright red infinite light collided with the seven-colored divine light, annihilating each other silently.

"Nu...Nuwa?"
