Chapter 393 Fainting

The New Year's Eve banquet was about family reunion, so two tables were set up and the couple sat together. Yun Hao did not go around chatting with the court officials. He sat at the table, turning around with a teacup in his hand.

Zhao Wangshu walked over and said, "Husband."

Yun Hao was surprised, "Why did you come here so quickly?"

Zhao Wangshu sat down and waited for the maid to leave before saying, "The queen did not summon me. I sat for a while and then the maid sent us out."

Yun Hao picked up the kettle and poured her a cup of hot tea. "This is better. You can come and accompany me earlier."

Zhao Wangshu took the tea, took a sip, and said jokingly, "My husband is not popular. No one comes to talk to him."

"It doesn't matter if I'm not popular. Anyway, I have the favor of the lady, and that's enough." Yun Hao smiled slightly, his eyes full of pampering.

"My husband is getting better and better at speaking. I am very happy to hear that." Zhao Wangshu said with a smile.

"It is a husband's duty to make my wife happy." Yun Hao raised the corners of his mouth and spoke in a gentle tone.

He picked up a kumquat from the fruit bowl, peeled it, and handed it to Zhao Wangshu, "This orange is quite sweet, try it."

Zhao Wangshu took the kumquat, broke off a petal, and put it in his mouth. "It's not only sweet, but also very juicy."

Seeing that she liked it, Yun Hao waited until she finished eating and then peeled another one and handed it to her.

Anyway, it is not good to eat at this kind of palace banquet. It is so cold that even if there is hot water, it will be cold when it is sent from the imperial kitchen so far away.

The two of them tasted the sweet kumquats while chatting about family matters.

Two more sticks of incense time passed, and those attending the palace banquet all entered the hall and sat in their seats, waiting for the emperor to appear.

But the emperor did not come for a long time. Instead, a eunuch came and asked Ling Ze and others to leave. Yun Hao was also invited.

"Take good care of the madam." Yun Hao instructed Luzhi and the others, then left with the eunuch.

Although Zhao Wangshu felt a little strange, he did not think much about it, thinking that the emperor had summoned them alone to discuss something.

But she waited for a long time, but Yun Hao and the others didn't come back, and the banquet didn't start. What happened?
Another stick of incense passed before the chief eunuch beside the emperor came in with a stern face and announced, "The palace banquet is cancelled. Everyone please leave the palace."

The whole palace was in uproar. Why was the palace banquet cancelled?
What about those who were called away?

After the chief eunuch made the announcement, he asked the palace maids and eunuchs to lead everyone out of the palace without answering anyone's questions.

Zhao Wangshu left the palace with everyone and returned home full of worries and doubts.

When Madam Qiao saw that she came back alone, she asked curiously, "Madam, why didn't the master come back with you?"

It’s the New Year and we still have to eat New Year’s Eve dinner.

"Still in the palace." Zhao Wangshu frowned.

"Ah?" Madam Qiao was stunned. Since the young lady had left the palace, why did the master stay?
As it involved the royal family, Madam Qiao did not dare to ask too much. She asked someone to help Zhao Wangshu take off his hairpins and rings and change into light clothes. "Madam, are you hungry? Do you want to eat something to fill your stomach?"

"I'm not hungry." Zhao Wangshu lay on the kang and half-lying on the pillow, staring at the door curtain in a daze. Yun Hao was in the palace, and she didn't know what was going on. How could she have an appetite to eat?

When Mrs. Qiao saw this, her eyes flashed and she nodded at Luzhi.

Luzhi understood and went to the side room, "Is the young master awake?"

"Awake." The nanny had just helped little Yunyu pee and was washing his little teapot and little butt with warm water.

"Feed the baby, take the young master to the east room. The mistress is back." Luzhi ordered.

"Got it." The nanny tucked little Yunyu's diaper and started feeding him.

After the wet nurse fed little Yunyu, she wrapped him tightly in a cloak and carried him into the east room.

Little Yunyu came into the house and saw Zhao Wangshu. He babbled something as if he was calling for his mother.

Seeing her lovely son, Zhao Wangshu regained some spirit. She reached out to hug her son and kissed his pink little face. "Yuer, my dear boy, did you miss me?" Little Yunyu giggled in her arms, his big eyes like black grapes twinkling, so adorable.

Mrs. Qiao took the opportunity to ask, "Madam, there is chicken noodle soup in the kitchen. Would you like to have a bowl?"

Zhao Wangshu nodded, "Okay, give me a bowl."

She couldn't panic, she had to stay calm and not scare herself. Yun Hao would be fine, he would come back safely.

The chicken noodle soup was quickly served. The nanny took little Yunyu away, and Zhao Wangshu ate the chewy noodles mouthful by mouthful.

"Young Madam, look at the young master." Luzhi said with a smile.

Zhao Wangshu looked up and saw Xiao Yunhao staring at her bowl, smacking his lips, obviously very greedy for his mother's bowl of noodles.

Seeing this, Zhao Wangshu chuckled and said, "You're six months old now. I'll give you some complementary food tomorrow."

With his son by his side, Zhao Wangshu’s panic and worry were somewhat relieved.

When it was midnight, she arranged for people to set off firecrackers and welcome the gods, and then she hugged her son to sleep.

When she was half asleep, she felt someone get on the bed. She asked vaguely, "Yun Hao?"

"It's me." Yun Hao replied in a low voice.

"I'm glad you're back. What happened in the palace?" Zhao Wangshu asked.

"Your Majesty has fainted." Yun Hao tucked in the quilt, "Go to sleep first. If you have any questions, ask them tomorrow."

"I'm afraid you will have to go to the palace again early in the morning." Zhao Wangshu muttered.

Yun Hao reached out and held her in his arms, "Your Majesty suddenly fainted, and the imperial physician diagnosed it as poisoning."

Zhao Wangshu let go of his son, turned around, frowned and asked: "The palace is heavily guarded, and there are people specifically responsible for your Majesty's food and daily life. How could he be poisoned?"

"The matter is still under investigation. The imperial doctors are doing their best to treat your majesty. Your majesty is not in danger of death for now, but the poison is so strong that it may take some time for him to fully recover. The eunuchs and maids around your majesty have all been controlled and are being interrogated one by one."

Zhao Wangshu hugged his waist and said worriedly, "This matter involves palace secrets. You must be careful not to be framed."

Yun Hao patted her back gently and said soothingly, "Don't worry, I will be careful. This matter is of great importance, I must find out the truth. Just stay at home and take care of the children, don't let your mind wander."

"I won't let my imagination run wild." Zhao Wangshu bit his lip, "Is the New Year's Day celebration also cancelled?"

"Yes, I will not go to the palace to pay tribute tomorrow." Yun Hao said.

"Then let's go to sleep." Zhao Wangshu closed his eyes.

Yun Hao kissed her on the forehead and said, "Okay, go to sleep."

The next day, the first day of the first lunar month, Yun Hao hurried into the palace. Zhao Wangshu accepted the gifts from the people in the palace, gave out red envelopes, and went to the Buddhist temple to see Madam Yun, carrying the newly dressed little Yun Yu.

"The weather is so cold, you shouldn't carry him out to get some fresh air." Mrs. Yun glanced at her grandson but didn't reach out to hug him.

"He was wearing warm clothes and was walking around the mansion, so it wasn't that cold," Zhao Wangshu explained.

Madam Yun chanted a Buddhist prayer and asked, "Did something happen in the palace?"

"Your Majesty has fainted." Zhao Wangshu told the truth.

"Is he going to die?" asked Mrs. Yun.

Zhao Wangshu was slightly surprised and glanced at her. "I heard from Yun Hao that there is no danger to her life."

Madam Yun snorted, "It has been a disaster for thousands of years."

Zhao Wangshu bowed his head and did not respond. Madam Yun silently recited a few verses of scripture, "Take the child back."

"Yes, mother." Zhao Wangshu fulfilled his courtesy and did not stay for long. He carried his son out of the Buddhist hall and returned to Linglong Courtyard.
