Chapter 592: Meeting Harry and Ron in Dueling Class

The purpose of establishing the Duel Club is to allow students to simply improve their ability to deal with danger in addition to studying.

Of course, this is okay to say to senior students, but for lower grade students, they haven't learned many spells themselves, and when they encounter danger, the only option they can do is to turn around and run away immediately.

There is nothing wrong with the club, it's just the people who run the club who have problems.

Gilderoy Lockhart, the most popular person at the beginning of the school year and now a super clown, except for a very small number of his die-hard fans, almost everyone doubts whether he is really as powerful as he says.

There were even a few Slytherin students who privately questioned whether Dumbledore was really senile, otherwise why would he choose such a loser to be the professor of the school's Defense Against the Dark Arts class?

But it must be said that Lockhart still has some advantages, such as his thick skin.

Even though he was being questioned by almost all the teachers and students in the school, he could still continue to brag about his "achievements" in front of everyone. This kind of shamelessness is something that others will never learn in their lifetime.

He made a big joke not long ago when Harry accidentally broke his arm during a Quidditch match.

The injury could have been easily cured by going to Madam Pomfrey, but Lockhart insisted on intervening, resulting in Harry's bones disappearing on the spot, and his entire arm became as soft as rubber. This is Luffy in the wizarding world.

Since then, his reputation in the school has plummeted. In recent classes, Ravenclaw students no longer pay attention to what he says. Everyone just listens with one ear and out the other, and puts all their energy into studying.

Not to mention Gryffindor and Slytherin, apart from not making trouble in class, they no longer regarded Lockhart as a professor.

Only the honest children in Hufflepuff would attend class obediently and even take notes obediently. They seemed to be more serious than anyone else.

However, if you inquire carefully, it is not difficult to find that the Hufflepuff students are also full of resentment towards Lockhart. Being an honest child does not mean that you have no temper. It is more terrifying when an honest person gets angry.

We have strayed off topic, let’s get back to the Duel Club.

A long dueling stage was placed in the center of the classroom, and students from the four colleges surrounded the dueling stage tightly.

Lockhart walked up from one end of the dueling arena. He was wearing gorgeous clothes, his hair was carefully combed, and he held his head high, looking like a proud peacock.

"Good afternoon, students. I am your professor, Gilderoy Lockhart!"

He did some fancy moves with his wand, and only a few students applauded and cheered for him.

"You should be familiar with me. Yes, I am your Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. I know many people have misunderstandings about my abilities, but it doesn't matter. I don't like to publicize my abilities, just like I rarely mention my honors."

He grinned, revealing a mouthful of small white teeth, and gave an elegant and charming smile to the students around him.

"How on earth did he have the nerve to say that? Has he forgotten all the embarrassing things he did before?"

Ron stood in the crowd and couldn't help but complain.

Harry next to him didn't say anything, but he nodded vigorously, proving that he fully agreed with Ron's evaluation of Lockhart.

"If a person deceives others too many times, he will deceive himself as well. Maybe deep down he really thinks he is very powerful."

Zhou Ming looked at Lockhart who was reveling in himself on the dueling stage and couldn't help but speak.

"Em, you're……"

Ron heard Zhou Ming's words and subconsciously looked at him.

I just felt that this person looked familiar, but I couldn't remember which college he was from.

"Ravenclaw, second year, Zhou Ming. Hermione and I are good friends. You should have heard of me from her."

The reason why he appeared next to Harry and Ron was, on the one hand, because the students were standing randomly and there was no division by college. On the other hand, it was Hermione and Cynthia who dragged him here. Anyway, he didn't have any familiar companions in his own college, so he just followed Hermione and the others.

"I told you that I couldn't find you on the first day of school. It was Zhou Ming who reminded me to find the class leader and the teacher, otherwise you would be in trouble."

Hermione added beside her.

Indeed, if Zhou Ming had not reminded her, and she had not notified the school and teachers in time, and continued to allow Harry and Ron to drive into the school, self-reflection and detention would be a small matter, but being attacked by the Whomping Willow would be really scary, and she might even be beaten to death on the spot.

"Ah, so it's you that Hermione was talking about. Thank you for that matter. My name is Ron Weasley, you can just call me Ron."

Ron scratched his head and said with a wry smile.

"Hello, I'm Harry, Harry Potter."

Harry also greeted Zhou Ming at the right time.

"I know you, Harry the Savior. I never had the chance to meet you before. This time, thanks to Hermione, I finally got to know you."

Zhou Ming said with a smile.

In fact, he has never been keen on getting closer to the protagonists. This was the case in the Naruto world. Of course, he was one of the protagonists at that time, so this doesn't count.

But afterwards, whether it was the Demon Slayer world, the Toaru Majutsu no Index world, the Bleach world, the One Piece world, or the Saint Seiya world, he participated in the whole process, but he did not have a deep connection with the protagonists.

In the final analysis, he felt that the protagonist was synonymous with trouble, and that the protagonist was often the lucky son of a certain world. He or she had a strong personality and was not easily influenced by external forces. He or she might even have many opinions of his or her own.

The opinions of these protagonists are likely to affect his plans, so he prefers to stay away from the protagonist group and develop freely.

Of course, if he could get to know the protagonists, he wouldn't refuse.

He just doesn't want to associate with them, not that he hates these people.

The same is true for my current acquaintance with Harry and Ron. I can get to know them, but I'm too lazy to take the initiative to get to know them. But if the opportunity arises, there's no problem in getting to know them.

"Please don't say that. I'm sick of this title."

Harry's expression was not very pleasant.

Of course, he was not here to target Zhou Ming. After all, there was no reason for him to be cold to Zhou Ming. The main reason was that he had been having a very bad time recently. In his own college, everyone comforted him on the surface, but in fact they were skeptical about what he said. Outside the college, most of the students from other colleges were questioning him, or simply making fun of him.

It would be fine if only outsiders thought this way, but the problem was that many people within Gryffindor also thought this way, which gave him a headache.

So when Zhou Ming said this now, Harry would subconsciously think that the other party was making fun of him, but because of Hermione's face and Zhou Ming's previous help, he couldn't get angry no matter how unhappy he was.

So he could only smile bitterly and hope that Zhou Ming would stop making fun of him. "Zhou Ming didn't mean that...you too, don't say such things."

Hermione quickly inserted herself between the two of them. She first explained to Harry, then turned around and pinched Zhou Ming viciously.

"I'm sorry, I said the wrong thing. I didn't mean that, Harry. Please don't misunderstand me. I'm just simply happy to meet you."

"It's okay, it's okay. I didn't think much about it, really."

Harry waved his hands quickly and forced a smile on his face.

"Okay, okay, let's not talk about this anymore, Zhou. I remember that you seemed to be the first in Ravenclaw last year, right? You are amazing. You got first place just like Hermione."

Although Ron's academic performance is average, he is actually not stupid. By now he has recalled some information about Zhou Ming.

But that’s all. Zhou Ming was too low-key last year and had almost no outstanding performance. Only this first place can be remembered.

After all, this is the first place in Ravenclaw. In that college full of smart people, being able to get into the top ten is something Ron couldn't imagine. Isn't this first place even more impressive than Hermione?
In his simple logic, he thought so.

Of course, this cannot be said to be wrong, because although Hermione is a top student, her grades are not the best in the entire school.

First of all, there is no overall ranking for the entire Hogwarts school, not even an official ranking within the college. The so-called rankings are all summarized by students or professors individually.

At best, Hermione can only be considered the best in Gryffindor's class. If the scope is expanded to all grades and only the grades are considered, Gryffindor at least has Percy who can completely suppress Hermione.

Because Hermione has some subjects that she is not good at, for example, in her fifth grade OWL exam, Hermione only got an A in the Defense Against the Dark Arts class, and Harry got an O in that exam, which shows that Hermione is actually too good at fighting.

Percy got certificates for all twelve subjects in this exam. We don't know his specific scores in each subject, and maybe he was not as good as Hermione in some subjects, but he was too comprehensive. Few people in the entire history of Hogwarts could achieve this result.

The only known people who did it before him were Tom Riddle, Bill Weasley and Barty Crouch Jr.

And considering that Percy took the more advanced NEWTs in his seventh year after taking the OWL exam, and considering that he was promoted shortly after joining the Ministry, it can be seen that he must have done very well in both exams.

These are the real academic geniuses. There is obviously still some gap between Hermione and them.

This is just a comparison within the academy. She is no match for Percy. If compared with other academies, there are many more strong people, such as Zhou Ming who is right in front of her.

Ron has complicated emotions towards people who are good at studying. He envies them, but also feels that they are “nothing special”.

Zhou Ming didn't pay attention to Ron's complicated inner thoughts. After he chatted with Harry with a smile and eased the atmosphere a little, he was soon attracted by the situation on the dueling stage.

For such a long time, Lockhart had only been showing off how powerful he was. Even though the students below had already shown signs of impatience, he had no intention of stopping.

Not to mention that the students just showed impatience, even if they booed, Lockhart probably wouldn't have any reaction. This man's thick skin has been cultivated to the extreme.

"Let me introduce my assistant, Professor Snape, who has agreed to assist me with a small demonstration. Don't worry, everyone. After the demonstration, I will return your Potions Professor to you intact..."

Lockhart waved his left hand towards the opposite side, and Snape, who was dressed in a black robe and whose face was darker than his clothes, walked up to the duel stage.

"Wow, the two professors I hate the most are standing together. This is doubly annoying!"

Below, Ron sighed, and Harry beside him nodded in agreement.

"Do you hate Professor Snape?"

Zhou Ming asked knowingly.

"Yes, Snape often targets us. In every class of his, even if we have done nothing wrong, Snape will do his best to ridicule us. Isn't he the same to you?"

Whenever Snape was mentioned, Ron was full of complaints. In his eyes, Snape would always be number one on the list of the most unpopular professors, and no matter how much Lockhart hated him, he could not shake Snape's position.

"No."

Zhou Ming shook his head. "Professor Snape was quite nice to me. He even allowed me to ask him questions privately."

"Then he is really nice to you, but he is different to us. I don't know why, but he has always hated us since we entered school."

Ron said in some distress.

Why else? Because I saw the enemy's "bastard".

Zhou Ming thought to himself.

It’s actually not quite appropriate to call him “bastard”, because Harry still has half Lily’s blood in him after all, and Snape is actually hostile to James Potter’s half of his blood.

"Snape is actually only hostile to Harry. He has never been against you."

Hermione couldn't stand it anymore and retorted.

"What difference does it make? Harry and I are best friends. If he hates Harry, he hates me. That's what I think anyway."

Ron said with a red face and stiff neck.

He was not usually in the same group with Harry in Potions class, so Snape's targeting had nothing to do with him. Of course, there was nothing wrong with him taking the initiative to stand up for his friend.

"Alright, alright, let's continue watching the duel. The two professors are about to begin."

Zhou Ming reminded at the right time.

Ron and Hermione immediately turned their attention to the dueling stage. Even Harry, who had been paying attention to the conversation between the two, immediately turned his head away.

On the dueling stage, the two professors simply saluted and stood on both sides, following Lockhart's count to three.

"Except your weapons!"

Snape made a move instantly, and Lockhart, who was caught off guard, flew out in a spin.

"..."

There was silence for a moment.
