Mystery: Lucky One

Chapter 426 4 Extraordinary Characteristics Delivered to Your Door

Alice followed silently behind. Not long after she walked, she was led into a building, and then walked around a few times to the top of the building.

"The high priest is waiting for you inside." The guide said this to her and then left Alice's sight.

After a moment's hesitation, Alice reached out and knocked on the door twice. After a while, Nim's voice came from inside the door:
"Please come in."

Pushing the door open, Alice saw this should be the meeting place. She saw a long table and tables and chairs around it, but Nim was not in front of the table. He was in front of a window.

Alice walked over curiously, looked out through the window, and found that from this perspective she could roughly see the entire picture of Moon City.

"How was your rest?" Nim asked.

Alice paused for a moment, then turned her head and asked very bluntly:
"Aren't you going to ask who I am? Or let me prove my identity or something...?"

"According to the order of the great Sun God..." Nim's face showed a look of reminiscence, "After we found the person walking out of the fog, we should immediately recite His name, tell Him everything, and welcome the person..."

Alice was slightly startled.

Nim continued as if not noticing her expression:

"But we have long lost the sun, and also lost the response from the sun god. But we still stand here, and we will certainly welcome you."

Alice lowered her head and thought for two seconds, then turned around and asked, "Have you... um... reported anything about me?"

Nim's expression gave the answer, it was obvious that this was another unanswered prayer.

Alice opened her mouth, not knowing what to say, but Nim took the initiative to change the subject:

"I remember you said before that you were guided by fate?"

"Ah!" Alice suddenly remembered the lie she had told - which might not have been entirely a lie.

In a sense, she could indeed be said to have been guided by fate, but her destination was not Yuecheng, and being discovered by the Yuecheng exploration team was most likely just an accident.

But, as she told Crane, the occasion was indeed perfect for preaching—so, what to say?

Alice turned to Nim, and after a moment's silence, she said softly:
"Miracle.

"I see... a miracle is about to happen to you."

Alice didn't say the name of "The Fool" in the end, but went around in circles - "The Fool" was disguised as Klein, Klein was from the "Fortune Teller" pathway, and "Miracle Worker" happened to be the name of the potion of Sequence 2 of the "Fortune Teller" pathway... uh, wait.

Didn't Zaratul say that resurrection from the dead is a miracle, so is a miracle worker... a magician who specializes in performing magic tricks to bring people back to life?
Alice tried hard to keep a serious expression and not laugh out loud.

"Miracle?" Nim turned his head and asked slowly.

Alice stared at Nim in silence for two seconds, then turned her head and saw the square and streets of Moon City through the window, and whispered:

"Yes, I saw it, and you will have a miracle...

"The miracle will bring you new life, bring you safe food, and let you see the sun and the red moon."

Nim stared at her in a daze for a long time before he asked in a hoarse and old voice:

"What does it mean?"

Alice heard his voice trembling, and she suddenly felt that the joke of the "miracle worker" was not so funny. She closed her eyes, and when she opened them again, her eyes were firm:

“…This is a prophecy brought to me by fate.”

After I get out, then... wait, if the spiritual world of "The Forsaken Land of Gods" is disconnected, then I won't be able to see the fate of the people of Moon City after I get out...

Alice's words stunned Nim for a moment. He asked Alice tentatively:

"Are you a 'prophet'?"

"...No," Alice chose to deny this guess, "I've already told you...You can call me Miss Fate."

"Miss Destiny..." Nim repeated the title, as if guessing something, "You said before that the Lord did not abandon us, but was betrayed...?"

Uh, can I tell him this? Never mind, I'll tell you later, just deal with it for now... Alice's feet turned around on the ground and gave the same answer as before:

"The gifts of fate are never free."

With that said, in many stories, the prophets seem to be the protagonists...what do they want?
While Alice was in a trance, Nim asked tentatively:
"What do you need?"

Alice blinked twice, hesitated for a moment, and asked:
"Uh... a way to quickly move through the 'Forsaken Land'? Wait, I don't need that now - with that deck of tarot cards, I can at least find Silver City or Afternoon Town, which are very close to the exit...

"You probably don't know how to get out, so what I'm still missing is..."

Alice paused for a moment, and said in a slightly bewildered tone:

"…the ingredients for the potion of the 'Mage of Doom'?"

"?" This request obviously confused Nim so much that even his gaze towards Alice became hesitant.

While Alice was thinking about how to make up for this problem, Nim made it all right for her:

"Do you need to supplement your Beyonder characteristics? If so, we have a Sealed Artifact that may meet your requirements."

"Ah?" Alice looked at Nim, not quite sure what was going on.

As if encouraged, Nim introduced the information of the item to her:

"This seal belongs to the 'Monster' path. It seems to be a combination of some of the 'Doom Wizard's' extraordinary characteristics and some of the 'Chaos Walker's' extraordinary characteristics. Its function is..."

Alice's smile disappeared from her face.

"No, I don't need this thing!" She refused with a strong reaction, as if she had heard something horrible.

This couldn't be blamed on her. After all, she just didn't want to swallow another extraordinary characteristic once or twice.

Nim was obviously startled. He stopped talking at her excited reaction and said to her apologetically:

"terribly sorry……"

"No, it's not your fault," Nim's voice startled Alice. She shook her head and tried to comfort Nim. "This matter... This matter is very complicated to explain."

She looked at Nim, sighed softly, and then said to him:

"Let's stop here. Maybe when a miracle happens, you will know everything. Maybe you won't know anything... but this is actually a good thing." After all... it's better to leave the affairs between gods to gods. Mortals, it's best not to look at anything or ask anything, otherwise...

"Knowing too much can easily lead to death, and, and I think, well...

"You probably don't have the hobby of discussing gossip among gods. The humans I know don't seem to like chatting with me about this."

She paused, then continued to Nim: "I think maybe I should go."

With Alice's firm attitude, Nim did not stop her in the end, but sent her to the city gate. Alice asked him curiously at the city gate:
"By the way, why did you believe so easily that I was an angel?"

This was a question that she had not figured out from the beginning until now.

Nim glanced at Alice, shook his head and said:

"Like you said, I think it's not just the humans you know who don't like to gossip about gods, the ones you don't know don't like to talk about this kind of thing either."

Alice understood what he meant.

Only gods would discuss other gods’ gossip—this kind of thing should be based on the equal status of both parties.

Otherwise, while chatting, you might be struck by lightning, or burn to death, or choke to death on drinking water, or you might not be able to speak at all.

For example, the fur of the demon wolf...

Alice turned and left Moon City, reaching out and drawing a scarlet moon symbol on her chest.

...Don't think about that kind of thing!

After leaving Moon City, Alice did not directly use the tarot cards to find the exploration team of Silver City, but started picking up spiritual materials in the "God-forsaken Land".

——For Alice, who belongs to the "fate" path, this is too easy.

At this moment, the "God-forsaken Land" shrouded in darkness became a treasure trove for Alice. She could see fallen spiritual materials every few steps she took.

Alice was not greedy. She only took enough spiritual materials to perform the ceremony to request the blessing, and then she did not continue. Instead, she began to harass Klein.

The good news is that it is still daytime outside, and Mr. Fool is not too angry after receiving the news. The bad news is...

"I'm on the Golden Dream," Alice got this response, "I got this from the restaurant on the Golden Dream... By the way, do you remember Edwina's book whose owners all disappeared? Your guess came true."

Edwina's book? The book whose owners all disappeared? My guess came true? What did I guess...?
Alice held the ice cream in her arms and thought as she walked.

She soon remembered the actual content of her guess - she once said that the owners who had disappeared over the years might have become part of the book.

...?
...What kind of book is so scary!
Alice jumped up in fear, and suddenly remembered Amon who came to her door with a comic book.

Damn... It sounds so scary. I feel like one day everything around me will turn into Amon... The scariest thing is that Amon seems to be able to really do this.

Alice began to seriously consider the possibility of not continuing to update the comics.

How about just like this… ?
She finished her ice cream while thinking about this headache-inducing problem, then looked at the dark road ahead with a bit of confusion.

I...how about finding a place to sleep for two days?

In fact, Alice's original intention was to go look for the Silver City exploration team now, but she did not forget that it took her more than half a week to fall asleep last time. According to the time reported by Klein, the next Tarot meeting would be in a few days.

Alice thought it was a bit too inappropriate to fall asleep directly in such a position - although there was no danger here except Amon, she hesitated for a moment and decided to try to walk around first, preferably to come across a ruin or something like that.

The good news is that although there are not many inhabited cities, there are too many ruins in the "God-forsaken Land". After walking for less than half a day, Alice came across an unfamiliar city.

Alice walked into the city full of broken walls and ruins, but did not look for a house to go into. Instead, after thinking for a moment, she slept under the half-collapsed city gate.

She was unable to sleep until the Tarot Club officially began. Before that, a crimson light enveloped her dream and woke her up.

She heard the figure shrouded in gray mist say to her:

"Bernadette asked me to give you the Blasphemous Card from the Wheel of Fortune."

...?
By the way, how did Bernadette find him...was it because I followed him when we went to that sea area?

Alice came to the gray fog and asked Klein this question. Klein's expression was very strange:

“No, it’s not your problem.

"She forged the identity of German Sparrow."

Alice looked at him in surprise and murmured, "No wonder you were discovered..."

"So," Crane looked at her and asked, "Do you want the 'Blasphemy Card'?"

"Yes," Alice answered as a matter of course, "She's willing to give it to me, so why not? But I might be back soon, and she can give it to me then... Hey, why did she contact you after so long?"

“Hmm…” Klein glanced at a crimson star with an ambiguous look. “She prayed to The Fool.”

Alice looked at him in amazement.

“I now have a saint-level believer… I mean a true believer,” Klein shrugged and said, “In addition, there is a Sequence 7 believer.”

The saint-level believer was undoubtedly Bernadette. Alice blinked twice and asked:
"Who are the followers of Sequence 7? Do I know them?"

"You know him," Klein nodded, "Danitz."

Perfect, so perfect... Alice covered her face with her hands and sighed, "You still have a city of backup believers."

"?" Klein looked at her with a confused look.

"This is what happened..." Alice shook her head and began to recount her experience after waking up next to the gray mist. "Anyway, this is what happened - Mr. Miracle Master."

"In other words," Klein keenly grasped the key point from the words, "you didn't tell them my honorific name or the title of 'The Fool', but just pretended to be a charlatan over there?"

"...What do you mean by pretending to be a charlatan?" Alice slammed the table angrily.

"That's right," Klein shook his head. "You're not pretending to be a charlatan. You are actually a charlatan... Mr. 'Prophet'."

After a pause, before Alice got angry, Klein added his plan:
"I may have to go back to Backlund... with a new identity." (End of this chapter)
