Chapter 1009 Ignore it
The air was cold, my muscles were stiff, and I couldn't even turn my head. But I could feel our eyes meeting, and all kinds of thoughts were surging in my mind.

John Quinn was caught completely off guard, but he still showed his experience as a man who had seen countless storms and waves, and shrugged lightly.

"Well, it looks like someone is having a mental breakdown in front of a real Hollywood star. I better check as soon as possible to see if the company health insurance will cover the psychiatrist's expenses."

With light humor and self-deprecation, the film calmly complimented Brad Pitt and quickly pulled the derailed scene back on track.

And, it's silky and smooth.

"I'd better go over and check the situation. Before things slide further into darkness, why don't we take a three-minute break? I guess meditation should be enough to solve the problem."

He controlled the situation humorously and easily, not only finding a perfect reason for his departure, but more importantly, John wisely left space for Brad Pitt to communicate with his agent.

Whether it was a serious discussion or a rage, John gave them space. He refused to stay here stupidly and become a stumbling block or a punching bag.

Kill several birds with one stone.

Then, John was able to get away and leave the meeting room. He looked around and saw Lucas standing at the elevator door. He could no longer suppress his anger and walked towards Lucas, faster and faster.

Like an active volcano erupting.

John controlled himself with his remaining rationality and did not explode completely. After all, this was not San Francisco, not their own company's territory, and there was no need to expose their internal conflicts in front of outsiders.

But such control has almost exhausted all his control.

Taking a deep breath, John seemed to be able to hear the boiling anger on his eardrums. He still noticed that Lucas seemed a little abnormal.

Lucas kept pressing the elevator button, knowing that pressing it a few more times would have the same effect, but Lucas couldn't help but continue pressing it.

So, wasn't all this a way of playing hard to get and trying to temper Brad Pitt's arrogance? Was Lucas's hasty exit from the meeting purely a personal act?

Wow!
The string of reason in John's mind was broken. "Lucas, what are you doing? Do you know what the hell is wrong with you? Even if your mother is dead, you must talk about this case obediently..."

The words were cut off.

Lucas, who had remained indifferent, turned his head and looked over. His calm eyes were as deep as the vast ocean, without a trace of emotion. But he suddenly grabbed John's throat, and the murderous aura that burst out without warning made John feel cold in his heart.

The roar above the eardrums disappeared without a trace.

John had never seen Lucas like this before.

The world is quiet.

Lucas finally got the chance, "My brother is injured and in the hospital. I need to go to the hospital now."

He explained the situation in just one sentence, but his heart still curled up so tightly that he could hardly breathe. He had to use all his reason to barely control himself.

Lucas managed to hold on to a trace of rationality, "As for this place, there's no need to worry, it's just Brad Pitt..."

John immediately realized his own embarrassment, unable to hide from Lucas's condescending gaze, and interrupted Lucas in anger.

"Just one?"

"Oh. How many Brad Pitts do you think there are in Hollywood? Don't think that just because your brother is a Hollywood actor, you can be arrogant and look down on others. Not just anyone can be called a Hollywood actor."

"A hundred of your brothers are no match for one Brad Pitt."

Taking a deep breath, John took a step forward, almost grabbing Lucas by the collar and punching him hard, but he managed to control himself.

"God damn it, Lucas Wood, do you know what you're doing? This is our chance, our chance of a lifetime to make it to Hollywood."

"I know that those Hollywood idiots are all empty-headed and superficial. Discussing work with them is simply an insult to their intelligence, but the checks in their hands are real. Any check is worth seven figures."

"Once you start cooperating with us, we will have the final say. It's a waste not to make such stupid money. You are just like them now, with a confused mind and no idea what you are doing. You are wasting such an opportunity." "We can make you a partner, but we can also work together to kick you out. Have you forgotten why you became a partner?"

"No matter what happens to your brother..."

John became more and more excited as he spoke, and without realizing it, he accidentally raised his voice. His face turned red, veins bulged, and he looked hideous, but he was completely unaware of his own ugliness.

until--

Ding.

The elevator doors opened, interrupting the conversation, and John watched Lucas enter the elevator before realizing that he had lost control of his voice.

John quickly controlled the volume and looked left and right, worried that he would be seen, but he had no time to look closely. He just wanted to solve the problem as soon as possible. When he turned around, he saw Lucas was already standing in the elevator.

Still looking calm.

In the past, they always joked that Lucas had facial nerve disorder and had no expression no matter what happened; but now looking at Lucas's completely expressionless face, waves of coldness rose from the bottom of their hearts.

Everything happened so fast that John couldn't keep up with Lucas' pace and didn't know what was going on. He rarely showed a panic expression.

"Leaving? Are you going to leave?"

"Grass!"

"If you leave... do you know what it means if you leave now?"

Originally, Lucas wanted to say that Brad Pitt had actually taken the bait, and even if he left now, Brad would still find him, so there was really no need for John to make such a fuss.

But now, Lucas didn't want to explain, nor did he have the energy to explain.

"Yeah." Lucas nodded slightly.

John was stunned and didn't react. What was Lucas saying?
It was during this brief moment of daze that the elevator door slowly closed.

Actually... just like that... it slowly closed...

John's brain froze and he didn't know how to react for a moment. Subconsciously, John raised his hand to block the elevator door, trying to stop Lucas.

"Lucas Wood, you know you..."

However, before he could finish his words, Lucas interrupted him bluntly, "Get lost."

John's eyes widened and his ears suspiciously said, "What did you say?"

Lucas repeated it clearly, "Get out."

John was so shocked that he didn't even realize he had let go and watched the elevator door close completely and Lucas disappear.

John: Huh?

Lucas dropped the ball right under his nose? Lucas pointed at his nose and cursed?
So, did Lucas just slap him in the face so hard? Otherwise, why did his cheek feel hot and painful?

Turning around, John could see that all the figures in the work cubicle had shrunk back like moles. After a brief commotion, everything returned to calm, as if nothing had happened.

However, the calmness that spread out seemed to be mocking John's embarrassment.

My cheek hurt even more.
