Chapter 1021 Giant Game
Aggressive and unyielding.

The air in the entire conference room condensed again. Although eyes were wandering in the air, the only focus in the space was obviously Michael Linton.

However, this is not surprising.

Generally speaking, there is only one CEO in a top company, because this is the position of the helmsman. It only takes common sense to know that too many helmsmen may cause the ship to lose direction or even lead to a disaster; and now Sony Columbia is facing such a situation.

Michael Linton is the troublemaker.

Over the past few years, Amy Pascal has been the CEO of Sony Columbia, but as mentioned before, Sony Columbia's operating conditions were lower than expected, so they had to gamble everything on "Spider-Man" -

If you don't succeed, you will become benevolent.

Of course, Amy's gamble was successful, and the historic success of "Spider-Man" caused a sensation throughout Hollywood.

However, this is still not enough for shareholders.

The brilliance of a single movie is not enough to help a large company undergo a complete transformation. "Titanic" failed to help 20th Century Fox reach the top of Hollywood, and "Spider-Man" also failed to help Sony Columbia completely get rid of the predicament of poor performance of other projects.

So, after discussion, the board of directors hired a second CEO, Michael Lynton, in March of this year. They hoped that Michael could assist Amy and help Sony Columbia complete its transformation.

But there is a detail here. Who is in the lead between Michael and Amy? Is Michael assisting Amy or is he trying to squeeze her out?

The board of directors didn't say anything, and the division of labor was unclear, but the general trend within the board was to promote Michael and get rid of Amy. After all, Amy had been in the position of CEO for many years but had never been able to help the company out of its predicament.

In other words, nothing is said explicitly, but now Amy is guarding her job and Michael is trying to complete his seizure of power.

The two are not partners where everyone is happy.

All major decisions for "Spider-Man 2" were made by Amy before Michael was promoted.

Now that an unexpected situation has occurred, Michael will naturally not miss the opportunity. He wants to reshuffle the cards and bring "Spider-Man 2" under his control.

But the point is that Michael's argument is persuasive, and given the expense of delaying filming, the board is likely to support Michael's decision.

Now, here's where things get tricky -

In the eyes of these people, is Anson really irreplaceable?

Michael Lynton was still as elegant as a professor. He did not raise his voice or lose his temper. The whole conversation was neither hurried nor slow. He presented facts and made sense. If you were not careful, you might be led into a ditch by him. His condescending attitude was almost impossible to hide.

This time, no one spoke in response. Michael's words once again hung in the air, slowly sinking into the quicksand of silence.

Michael didn't care. He lowered his chin slightly and smiled.

"Now it seems like I am the bad guy, but let's calm down. I have no ill intentions. I am just stating the facts objectively."

"We need to be rational and calm in the face of this difficulty."

Sam, who had been sitting next to him with his head down and silent, said, "I thought Anson was the one facing the difficulties now."

Michael choked and paused for a moment. "Of course, Anson has his own difficulties, and we have ours. I sincerely hope that Anson's acting career goes well, but now we have to consider the interests of Sony Columbia. What do you think?"

Ian looked up at Amy.

Amy's face looked a little gloomy. It could be seen that in the face of Michael's aggressiveness, Amy was a little overwhelmed. It was not the confrontation in front of her, but more of a confrontation within the board of directors behind her.

If Amy couldn't protect herself, how could she vouch for Anson? Ian sighed inwardly, then looked at Michael, "So, what's going on in your mind now?"

Michael finally achieved his goal, but he was not surprised, nor did he get carried away, "I think we should change the actors."

As he spoke, Michael pushed the folder that had been placed in front of him forward.

Ian stood up and opened the folder. Inside was a stack of A4 papers. He quickly scanned them and distributed one to each person present without saying anything.

Sam still didn't look up, not even a glance.

But Amy looked at it and felt a lump in her chest. "You are already prepared, so what is the point of this meeting?"

This is a list of actors that clearly lists Peter Parker's successors.

Moreover, there are more than one names, there are more than twenty names in total.

Considering the actors' age, appearance, style, etc., it can be seen that Michael not only made preparations, but also conducted detailed investigations.

From the beginning, Michael was not prepared to support Anson.

Amy's anger suddenly burst out, "God, Anson is still lying on the hospital bed!"

Michael, "I didn't know you were such an emotional person, like other women. I sympathize with Anson's situation, but we have work to do."

Michael was not moved at all.

The air was turbulent and filled with smoke, and Michael and Amy started fighting again.

But Sam just found it boring.

Suddenly, he felt bored. When Anson was struggling in pain and on the brink of life and death, Sony Columbia only had profits in its eyes. They turned people into a group of numbers and then simply completed a numbers game.

However, life is not a number and things shouldn't be like this.

Don't forget that all the box office pressure of "Spider-Man" was on Anson, and the movie became a huge success. Now they are considering replacing Anson. It's really ugly to see them destroying their own bridges.

In Sam's opinion, this meeting should not have happened in the first place. They supported Anson 100% without hesitation. This was the only option.

But the really sad thing is that Anson seemed to have seen through this early on.

In the hospital, Anson found Sam and expressed his true feelings. He said he would recover as soon as possible and return to the crew. He knew that the delay during this period might make things difficult for the crew, so he promised to speed up the progress after his recovery to ensure that the movie could catch up with the schedule.

At that time, Sam said that Anson was thinking too much, and repeatedly comforted Anson to have a good rest and there was no need to worry. The crew could shoot other scenes first, and then start the work of the protagonist after Anson returned. He believed that they could complete the shooting on time.

It wasn't until now that Sam realized why Anson had talked about this in the hospital.

Clearly, Anson knew, Sony Columbia had no sympathy.

However, Sam just felt sad and heartbroken. Not only did they not support Anson, but they were also preparing to stab Anson in the back.

Things shouldn't be like this.
