The Best Actor in the Vase of Meiyu

Chapter 978 Dreams Come True

Chapter 978 Dreams Come True
"what?"

Michael Hathaway stood up so suddenly that the chair fell to the ground. He subconsciously turned around to grab the chair, but his attention was not there at all, and he missed it. He stood there in a daze, holding the phone with a shocked face.

"Wait, are you sure? This isn't a joke?"

On the side, Anne Hathaway and Thomas-Hathaway, who were enjoying dinner, were startled by their eldest brother's actions. The two exchanged glances in surprise and asked each other "what happened" with their mouths, but in the end, neither of them had any clues.

For a moment, I didn’t know whether it was a good thing or a bad thing.

Michael was so absorbed in his own thoughts that he didn't notice the movement beside him. "Is he still here? Did he leave any message?"

"But, I'm the creator, why can't I know?"

“Oh God, wait, are you sure that number is correct, I remember the price tag…”

"Okay, thank you. I really appreciate it and have a great night."

The phone call finally ended.

Michael still stood there in a daze, dumbfounded.

It was Anne who called out, "Michael? Michael!"

Michael finally came to his senses and looked at his brother and sister. Both of them had worries in their eyes. He waved his hands and smiled, "It's a good thing. Good thing."

After saying that, Michael was stunned again.

After a moment, Michael woke up with a start, "My painting is sold."

Thomas thought for a moment, "The night shadow of the city?"

Michael nodded dazedly, "Yes."

Then he looked blankly at Anne and Thomas and said, "It was sold for fifty thousand dollars."

Even if I say it with my own mouth, it still doesn't feel real. It's hard to believe that all this really happened. I'm so confused and can't get over it for a while.

Thomas looked at Anne and lowered his voice, "You didn't buy it secretly, did you?"

Anne looked up at the sky speechlessly, "Thomas, do you think I have $50,000 to buy a painting?"

Thomas grimaced.

Michael reacted a little later, "Annie, it's not you, is it?"

Anne raised her hands with a helpless look on her face, "Michael, it really wasn't me. You should believe in yourself. Your work will be seen after all."

Michael was skeptical.

Anne clenched her fists and cheered towards Michael, "Your work is sold, ahhhh, Michael!"

The next second, the sense of reality finally hit them, and Michael and Thomas both became excited. They clenched their fists and stood up suddenly, jumping up and down, cheering and shouting, entering party mode.

Although he is the older brother, Michael is only two years older than Anne. He has just graduated from college and is now in the early stages of exploring his career and life. He is full of confusion and bewilderment. He has been trying different possibilities, trying to determine the direction of his career.

Their mother, Kate McCauley, is an actress, though not a famous one, who has performed off-Broadway.

When Anne was eight years old, she fell in love with acting after watching her mother perform the role of Fantine in "Les Miserables", and established her dream of acting at an early age; but the Hathaways understood the hardships and difficulties of the acting profession, and they did not want Anne to follow this path.

For this reason, Kate completely quit her acting career and went home to concentrate on raising her three children, hoping to put an end to Anne's obsession with becoming an actress.

However, Anne still became an actress.

But Michael never found his own direction. He had no interest in acting, but was always attracted by the field of art. So he tried different fields such as painting, writing, photography, etc.

Of course, it's not easy.

Those down-and-out artists in movies seem to have lofty ideals and a carefree life; but in real life, down-and-out is down-and-out.

Not only do I have to worry about rent, but I also have no idea how to get three meals a day. I wander around all day long like a wandering soul that may be swallowed up by the steel jungle of New York at any time.

Michael kept convincing himself not to rush, to stay patient and positive, to concentrate on his creation, and to allow himself time to explore slowly.

But apparently, this is more difficult than expected.

Until tonight. Happiness? Joy? Excitement?

None of these were enough to describe his feelings. Michael felt like the whole world was exploding with fireworks, which he could not suppress at all. Then he had an idea.

"I'm going to the gallery," Michael said.

Thomas, "What?"

Michael repeated, "The painting should still be in the gallery and has not been delivered to your door yet. I need to confirm whether this is true."

Thomas followed suit, "Indeed, you should double-check that it's not someone secretly helping you."

Annie rolled her eyes, "Ha. Ha."

Michael didn't have time to chat any more, he grabbed his coat and rushed out.

Anne and Thomas looked at each other.

Thomas also smiled and said, "There's a lot of fun to watch, so there's no reason to miss it."

As he spoke, he backed out of the room.

Annie followed, "It's not me, I told you, it's not me!"

When the three Hathaway siblings arrived at the gallery, they were all stunned.

The shop is packed with people.

It can't be said to be crowded, but you can definitely see the bustling scene of people coming and going, some people leaving and some people coming in, and the crowd coming in and out is particularly noisy.

Thomas opened his mouth and said, "Michael, is this such a popular art exhibition? If it is so popular, your paintings have not been sold until today. It doesn't seem to be something worth being surprised or happy about. Maybe they thought it was a warehouse sale, and a fool grabbed it and thought he had found a treasure... Ouch!"

"Thomas!" Anne elbowed Thomas directly, interrupting his teasing.

Michael didn't have time to think about it. "No, the exhibition has not been going well. I just came here yesterday and stayed for two hours. There were only three people. Three people! I stared at the gate until my eyes almost popped out. There were only three people."

"This……"

Michael didn't understand what was going on.

Annie is a man of action. She opened the car door and got out first. "You'll know after you go in and take a look."

At this point, Michael was a little slow to react and quickly called out, "Annie!"

As soon as he made a sound, Michael lowered his voice as if guilty and continued to call, "Annie, be careful, put on your hat, you don't want to be seen."

Afraid that his call would attract more attention.

Thomas quickly caught up with her, holding a baseball cap in his hand, and put it on Anne's head without saying a word.

Anne, "My hair!"

But he just muttered a few words and didn't resist in the end. He adjusted his hat and walked straight towards the gallery.

Just in time, someone came out.

“…I have to say, it’s better than I thought.”

"I think it's quite interesting. It's a perspective."

"It's a little surprising that he would like such an exhibition."

"Haha, what's so surprising about that? Maybe it was just a PR move. His PR person asked him to come here and make an appearance to create a wave of hype. He went home and put the painting in the warehouse to collect dust. We didn't know about it, and we were fooled into thinking he had great taste."

They left while chatting enthusiastically.

Anne couldn't help but look at them twice, but still pushed the door and entered the gallery. Facing her, right in front of her, she could see the painting that looked a little strange yet familiar.

Anne turned around, "Michael, this is..."
