A thousand-year-old family that began with the Battle of Makino
Chapter 1040: Taining Reform Years, East-West War Rise
Chapter 1040: Taining Reforms After Years, East-West Wars Arose
The fourth year of Taining in Daxia
Emperor Taining promoted Wang Anshi to be the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Personnel, in charge of the imperial examinations for that year.
Taining Five Years
Wang Anshi was appointed as "Sanzhi Zhengshi" and entered the government hall, becoming one of the prime ministers and began to prepare talents for the subsequent reforms.
Seven Years in Taining
Wang Anshi was promoted to the Minister of Personnel, joined the Prime Minister's Council, and was appointed as an assistant minister, holding key government positions.
The Prime Minister's Council consisted of a Prime Minister and several assistant ministers, who were officials from various provinces, ministries, and agencies, and assisted the emperor in handling military and government affairs.
With the preparations of the previous two years, Wang Anshi proposed to change customs, establish laws and regulations, and propose reforms as soon as he took office.
Emperor Taining Bai Ru approved the establishment of the "Three Departments Regulations Office" to guide the implementation of the reform, which was jointly managed by Wang Anshi and Grand Commander Chen Shengzhi.
After receiving the authorization, Wang Anshi immediately took action. He first appointed Lu Huiqing to take charge of the daily affairs of the Regulations Department, and sent more than 40 officials to visit and discuss the actual situation and draft new laws.
Taining Eight Years
Prime Minister Wen Yanbo resigned due to his advanced age of 68.
Bai Ru approved and promoted Wang Anshi to Prime Minister, thereby giving him the highest power in the court except for the emperor, and formally promulgated and implemented the new law.
The Equalized Transport Law, Green Sprout Law, Market Exchange Law, Exemption from Military Service Law, Equal Taxation Law for Square Fields, Agricultural Land and Water Conservancy Law, Appointment of Generals Law, Baojia Law, and Horse Protection Law were promulgated one after another.
At the same time, Wang Anshi promulgated a decree to reform the imperial examination system, called the "New Imperial Examination", which abolished the old system in which poetry and prose accounted for a large proportion of the candidates' selection.
A new system was adopted, which focused on practical and rational science.
The "Three-Door System" was implemented in the Imperial College, dividing the Imperial College into three levels: outer dormitories, inner dormitories, and upper dormitories.
There are two thousand people in the outer quarters, three hundred people in the inner quarters, and one hundred people in the upper quarters.
The top grades will be appointed as officials, the middle grades will be exempt from the Ministry of Rites examination, and the bottom grades will be exempt from the joint examination.
The Imperial Academy was completely transformed into an official school dedicated to training grassroots officials, which was in stark contrast to the emphasis on individuality in national studies.
And in order to have a sufficient number of capable generals.
At the suggestion of Emperor Taining, a military academy that only recruited warriors and sergeants, namely the "Daxia National Officers Academy", was established in Kaifeng.
This formed a situation where the Imperial College, the National College and the Military College were the three major schools in existence, while the local state and county schools were scattered everywhere.
As the reform progressed, strict inspections in Beijing and the continuous merger of government offices led to more and more officials being dismissed and the army being laid off.
It even soon touched the interests of local gentry.
These gentry were originally scholars. Through the status of scholars passed down from generation to generation, they replaced the former powerful and became local landlords.
What followed was endless criticism from the local to the central level, from the court to the underworld.
Wang Anshi was denounced as a treacherous minister who misled the country and the people, was greedy for power and wealth, and deceived the emperor. He was even compared to Li Linfu of the Tang Dynasty, who was narrow-minded and jealous of talented people.
Among them, the first assistant minister Sima Guang was the most radical. He listed the drawbacks of implementing the new law and demanded that Wang Anshi abandon the new law, becoming the leader of the conservatives.
Bai Ru could see memorials from ministers impeaching Wang Anshi every day.
But Bai Ru was not Emperor Jing of Han, nor was he Li Longji, so he naturally supported Wang Anshi's reforms with absolute trust.
Twenty-five years in Taining
After more than ten years of persistent reform by Bai Ru and Wang Anshi, the political ecology of Daxia was completely renewed, and Daxia was freed from the predicament of financial shortage.
Although Wang Anshi died five years ago as the most outstanding civil official, he was Shangshu Zuo Pushe, Grand Secretary of Wenhua Palace, Special Advancement Rong Guanglu Doctor, Duke of Jing, Shang Zhuguo, and Prime Minister.
But Bai Ru did not listen to the instigation of conservatives such as Sima Guang to abolish his new laws, but instead became more persistent.
He was even posthumously awarded the title of "Taifu".
Bai Ru died this year at the age of seventy-seven. He was posthumously named "Emperor Shaotian Fagu Renxiao", temple name "Shenzong", and buried in "Yongtai Mausoleum".
His son Bai Yue ascended the throne and named the reign title "Zhenghe", and was known as Emperor Zhenghe.
After Emperor Zhenghe ascended the throne, he insisted on the new laws, just like his father Emperor Taining, and even appointed Zhang Dun, who supported the new policies, as Prime Minister.
Wang Anshi was enshrined in the temple of Emperor Shenzong, given the posthumous title of "Wen", and posthumously named "Prince Shuping" as a token of favor and honor.
Xuantong 21st year
This is the reign title of Emperor Xuantong Baiya.
'Zhenghe Emperor' Bai Yue gave birth to 'Yousheng Emperor' Bai Gang; Bai Gang gave birth to 'Jiatai Emperor' Bai Zhi; Bai Zhi gave birth to 'Kaiping Emperor' Bai Duo; Bai Duo gave birth to 'Jingxiang Emperor' Bai Gang; Bai Gang gave birth to 'Zhiqing Emperor' Bai Qian; Bai Qian gave birth to Bai Ya.
In other words, since Emperor Zhenghe Baiyue ascended the throne, Daxia had had six emperors and more than 120 years.
Adding the previous hundred years, it is more than two hundred and twenty years.
Today's Daxia not only includes the previous territories, but also successfully obtained nominal ruling rights over the U-Tsang region by escorting the Tubo Living Buddha who fled to Xining Prefecture into Tibet.
Daxia resolved the religious issues in the Kunning region in the same way it had done before, recognizing the reincarnations of the two living Buddhas of U-Tsang and setting up the U-Tsang Xuanfu Division to manage religious affairs in the U-Tsang region.
Later, Daxia's third reform movement abolished roads and established provinces across the country to reduce redundant officials.
Provincial governors and provincial governors were set up in the country to manage the original two routes and above areas, and under them were important official positions such as the left and right provincial governors, the left and right provincial judges, the left and right educational officials, and the left and right military commanders.
A governor's office is set up overseas, and the governor is given full authority to manage the overseas territories.
In the subsequent military campaign for supremacy with the people of Xizhou, the vassal states were changed into principalities, and the local kings were replaced with blood-related princes or clan princes.
After replacing all the countries within its reach with principalities, Daxia finally gathered enough military strength to maintain the front line in Beiyinzhou and Xiaoxiyang.
After all, Daxia had to send troops from far away, and the people from Western Continent were not as close as them, not to mention the Ottoman Empire, a powerful country in the Middle East.
The world thus formed a war between the Western Continent Alliance and the Great Xia Empire, and the neutral Ottoman Empire wavered. This led to continuous naval battles in the Lesser Western Ocean and land battles in the Northern Yin Continent.
Dadu can also be called "Tokyo", "Bianjing" or "Kaifeng".
At this time, Dadu had become a modern metropolis with a population of millions.
As early as a hundred years ago, Kaifeng was short of fuel due to its growing population.
Daxia ushered in the coal and iron age, and then the era of large-scale handicraft workshops was born.
At this time, Daxia had conquered the eastern and northern countries of India through the U-Tsang Province, making them its vassal states and incorporating them into the Xia system.
The English were deeply influenced by imported goods from the East and ended the Middle Ages early, entering the Age of Discovery just twenty years later than Bactria.
They began to land on the west coast of India and established their own colony.
Unlike the vassal states of Bactria, Westerners directly established colonies and brought them under their own rule.
Gradually, the two groups began to confront each other on the land of India.
After several decades, the advanced culture, ideas, technology, systems and concepts of the East and the West began to influence each other.
But overall, Daxia was decades ahead of the West.
Therefore, the English were unable to defeat Bactria in India.
Bactria successfully downgraded the Mughal Empire of India into four kingdoms, made them its vassal states, required them to pay tribute every year, and entered Bactria's commodity system, becoming a dumping ground for Bactria's goods.
In order to curb the continuous expansion of Daxia to the west, the Western European countries such as the English, the Dutch, the Spanish, and the French formed the Western European Alliance.
The countries in the western part of Xizhou contain Daxia from the sea, and the countries in the eastern part of Xizhou contain Daxia from the land.
The two sides then engaged in a tug-of-war for more than 20 years.
Not only that, the Western Alliance also reconciled with the Ottoman Empire, their eternal enemy, and secretly supported the Ottoman Empire's eastward expansion.
Afterwards, Daxia and the Xizhou Alliance simultaneously landed in a place named Beiyinzhou, with Daxia on the west coast and the Xizhou Alliance on the east coast.
The policies implemented by the two sides in the local area are also different, Daxia uses a stick and the other a carrot.
First, they established a principality on the west coast, and then, relying on their skin color being similar to that of the natives, they claimed that they were descendants of the Shang merchants who sailed east, and then provided them with free universal education.
In contrast, in order to make up for the losses in the Battle of the Atlantic Ocean, the Western Alliance relied on advanced firearms to burn, kill, loot and commit all kinds of atrocities as soon as they landed.
At the beginning, the natives didn’t know how to choose. But as time went on, after comparing the two, the native tribes knew who to choose.
So Daxia began to help the natives build a country and named it "Dong Yin Kingdom", meaning the descendants of Yin people. Like Annan, Japan, and other countries in Southeast Asia, it was incorporated into the Chinese narrative system.
Even though Daxia was the elder brother and the other states were younger brothers, most of the disobedience was successfully eliminated.
Under the drawing of Daxia Kunyu map.
It called itself "Shenzhou". The area to the west of Shenzhou was called "Zhongzhou". Further west was "Xizhou". The area to the south of Shenzhou, where the country of India was located, was called "Nanzhou".
The continent across the sea to the south of Xizhou is called "Heizhou", the southernmost continent of Daxia is called "Oceania", and further east is "Yinzhou".
The area between Bactria and Wa Island is called the Sea, and the area east of it is called the East Ocean.
The vast sea area south of the Bactrian coastline is called the "Nanyang", and beyond the Kingdom of Vihara is the "Ocean".
The sea area south of India was called "Little Western Ocean", and the land between Yinzhou, Xizhou and Heizhou was called "Western Ocean".
As early as fifty years ago, Daxia sent out navigators to circumnavigate the globe, once again proving the correctness of the theory of a spherical earth.
Today, the fierce collision between Eastern and Western cultures, especially with the intensifying military conflicts, has long been hated by the people of both the East and the West, with the "First East-West War" or "First World War" that lasted for twenty years.
As a result, both sides spontaneously and simultaneously came up with a thought that was different from the current mainstream culture - capitalist thought.
In order to expand the factory to produce huge amounts of weapons, equipment and supplies.
In the territory of Daxia, in addition to the Bianliang metropolis of Dadu, there are also the Suzhou and Hangzhou metropolises, the Beijing metropolis, the Hankou metropolis, the Chang'an metropolis, and the Chengdu metropolis.
Although these metropolises have barely reached a population of one million, they are all important industrial centers of Daxia.
After many "reforms" in Daxia, the household registration system had already been divided into four levels: military, civilian, scholar, and official.
Among them, the civilian registration is divided into farmers, merchants, and migrant households.
Today, Daxia has a population of 200 million, and various thoughts are surging.
According to secret reports from the Great Xia Embroidered Uniform Guard, a trend of thought emerged within the Ottoman Empire, leading to countless uprisings in its eastern part, declaring that they did not want a sultan and wanted to form their own government.
The Ottoman Empire now has no time to care about the war between the East and the West, and is doing its best to suppress the great unrest in the East.
Such voices were heard not only in the Ottoman Empire, but also within the Western Alliance and the Great Xia Empire.
And as the war continued, this voice gradually suppressed the mainstream voice.
In fact, both Daxia and the Xizhou Alliance wanted a ceasefire, but the two sides had been fighting for decades, and the losses in manpower and material resources were incalculable, and no one was willing to give up.
So the stalemate remained.
