Qing Huan didn't quite understand why Master Qi Shan wanted him to "dry Zen".

But seeing Master Qishan's affirmative expression, Qing Huan did not directly refuse, but said: "I think that Zen is not about sitting or lying down, and it is even less about sitting still... Sitting still cannot lead to Buddhahood!"

Master Qishan looked at Qinghuan with a smile and said, "You can't sit when you are born, and you can't lie down when you die. You are just a pile of rotten bones, how can you set up a task?"

"Since you know this truth, why do you still want your disciples to sit in meditation?"

Qing Huan was surprised and said, "If you practice Zen for the sake of cultivating Buddha, you are killing Buddha. Why do you still have to be obsessed with the sitting posture? Isn't that going against the truth?"

Master Qishan did not give a direct answer, but asked: "You have to eat every day, right?"

Qing Huan replied: "Of course."

Master Qishan asked, "Did you wash the dishes?"

Qing Huan nodded and said, "I always wash the dishes after eating..."

He seemed to understand something.

Master Qishan smiled and said, "How long has it been since you cleansed your heart?"

Qinghuan was silent. Since leaving Washan, Qinghuan had been traveling in the secular world for nearly ten years. He had seen a lot of things and learned a lot. At the same time, his heart was also stained with a lot of dust.

Seeing Qing Huan didn't say anything, Master Qishan knew that he understood what he meant, and praised: "The heart is the Bodhi tree, the body is the mirror, always wipe it diligently, don't let it be dusty."

Qing Huan blurted out subconsciously: "There is no Bodhi tree, and the mirror is not a stand. There is nothing in the first place, so where can dust gather?"

Master Qishan laughed loudly and said, "Have you become a Buddha?"

Qinghuan touched his bald head awkwardly. He had not yet reached the state of "nothingness", so his words might sound funny.

Master Qishan said earnestly: "If the truth is not put into practice, it is just a useless word. I thought that after so long, you should understand it."

Qing Huan said sincerely: "My disciple has gone insane! In fact, my disciple was a little worried in his heart, which is why he had this obstacle to his knowledge."

"worry about what?"

Qing Huan said frankly: "I am worried that you are deliberately sending your disciples away."

Master Qishan smiled and shook his head, saying: "You practice your Buddhism, and I do mine. What is there to worry about? You can convince Liansheng to let go, but when it falls on you, you can't let go yourself?"

Qinghuan was silent.

People are like this. They can talk about great principles to others very well, but they can't accept it when it happens to themselves.

The two of them sat in front of the chessboard in silence.

Not long after, they both looked up at the sky at the same time, then looked in a certain direction.

From nowhere, it seemed as if something was spreading between heaven and earth...coming from the direction of Chang'an in the Tang Dynasty.

That is a great satisfaction and relief!

The great insights from two people, both of whom were above the fifth realm, spread into the heaven and earth, and diffused to the entire world along with the vital energy of heaven and earth.

Master Qishan said with emotion: "Do you feel it? This is the true enlightenment and Buddhahood!"

“Telepathy” allows Qinghuan to understand the world more deeply than anyone else, so his feelings at this moment are also deeper than anyone else.

Feeling the extra joy and happiness between heaven and earth, Qing Huan finally let go, put his hands together, and said: "Amitabha! I understand, from today on, I will sit in meditation!"

"Then go ahead!"

……

Yan Se, the most powerful talisman master in the world, and Wei Guangming, the great priest of light who had been trapped in a cage for more than ten years and walked out of the cage on his own, had a decisive battle on the top of an unknown hill in the northern suburbs of Chang'an.

After they both broke through the five realms, they died together and scattered between heaven and earth.

It was also on this day that Qinghuan opened a cave half a person's height on Wa Mountain, sat in it, and began his own meditation.

Flowers bloom and fall, the sun rises and sets, and two years have passed since I sat here. A lot of things have happened in these two years, but in the final analysis, they are all mundane things.

For example, Ning Que, the Thirteenth Master of the Academy, returned to Chang'an with his companions in the wilderness. After three months of seclusion, he officially took on the identity of the academy's wandering master and faced challenges from various major forces.

For example, Ye Hongyu, the Grand Judge of Xiling, was seriously injured and ridiculed by others during the wilderness trip. However, he escaped from Xiling after receiving the help of Liu Bai's sword intent.

She had been to Washan before, and after taking a look at Qinghuan, who was sitting in meditation on the cliff, she went straight to Chang'an.

Afterwards, Ning Que used his upper-level Dongxuan cultivation to kill Xiahou, the great general of the Tang State who was at the pinnacle of martial arts, and completed an incredible cross-border killing of the enemy. He became famous for killing Zhiming with Dongxuan!
After Chang'an, Ye Hongyu and his party returned to Xiling, beheaded the High Priest of Judgment of Xiling Temple, and sat on the throne of the High Priest of Judgment herself.

The relationship between Ning Que and the bookworm Mo Shanshan was widely known, but in the end, Mo Shanshan returned to Moganshan sadly.

Ning Que finally chose Sangsang. After years of sharing joys and sorrows, they have long been inseparable from each other.

The Yulan Festival was about to begin, and Sangsang happened to have an attack of cold poison, so the teacher asked Ning Que to bring her to Washan and seek medical treatment from Master Qishan.

Master Qishan, who has not left his house for decades, will also appear in this year's Ullambana Festival, which will undoubtedly bring this year's Ullambana Festival to a climax.

Almost all forces sent people to participate.

Including the Hanging Temple!
……

There are two caves on the cliff where Master Qishan lived in seclusion, one large and one small, one deep and one shallow.

Standing on the cliff, everyone could see a person sitting cross-legged in the small cave. His body was already covered with a thick layer of dust, like a clay Buddha statue, motionless and unshakable, exposed to the wind and sun.

Ning Que led Sangsang through three levels of chess and finally met Master Qishan and Qinghuan, who was like a stone statue.

"He just sat there like that for two years?"

Ning Que pointed in disbelief and said, "Just like this, not eating or drinking, and not moving at all?"

Master Qishan said kindly: "Otherwise, how can it be called "dry Zen"? "

Sangsang whispered, "He won't starve to death in there, will he?"

Master Qishan smiled and said, "He is eliminating delusion and attachment, observing the wisdom and virtue of his own nature, in order to "enlighten his mind and see his nature". Seeing his nature is the Tathagata, that is, the Buddha!"

Ning Que approached and carefully poked it with his finger. It felt hard, and the dust was almost condensed into stone. He asked, "Will it not wake him up?"

After asking this question after disturbing him, Ning Que's little thoughts naturally could not be hidden from Master Qishan.

Ning Que always felt uneasy during this trip to Washan. If he could wake Qinghuan up in advance, he would feel at ease.

Master Qishan smiled and did not expose him, saying: "He has entered a state of meditation and will not wake up."

Ning Que said "Oh" in disappointment and was about to turn around when he suddenly said "Huh?" "There are shadows on the stone wall... and there are two of them!"

Sangsang also came over curiously to take a look and said in surprise, "Really?"

Master Qishan shook his head and said, "To be precise, it is three... Don't forget his own shadow."

Ning Que smacked his lips and said, "It is said that when a great monk meditates, he can imprint his own shadow on a stone wall. I thought it was just a legend."

Master Qishan glanced at Ning Que and said meaningfully, "In the meditation stone chambers of the Hanging Temple, there is also a shadow on the stone wall of one of the chambers. It was left by Junior Brother Liansheng when he was meditating."

Ning Que laughed dryly and quickly changed the subject, saying, "What does this shadow mean? His two shadows look different in shape, one is standing, the other is lying..."

Master Qishan smiled and explained, "The standing shadow is called the 'Past Buddha'. Do not be angry or love it, because it means it has passed.

The shadow cast by him now is called the "Present Buddha" and it changes all the time with the changes in the world.

As for the one sleeping on his side, he is called the "Future Buddha". It is easy to understand. He is still sleeping, neither in the past nor in the present. The day he wakes up will naturally be the future.

The past, present and future are what Buddhists call “Dharmakaya, Sambhogakaya and Response Kāśyapa.”

Ning Que was stunned for a moment, then blurted out: "Brother, he became a Buddha? What Buddha? The Happy Buddha?" (End of this chapter)
