Chapter 18 Bishop Donnie
"God Emperor, how dare I do such a blasphemous thing!"

Bayev was shocked when he heard Ron's question. He obviously had great respect for the God-Emperor and the church here.

He looked at Ron solemnly: "If it weren't for the help of the church, our Royal Court would have fallen to the attack of heretics long ago..."

Bayev told Ron what happened that year, when the nobles joined forces with heretics to attack the royal court.

They drove the people to the Sacred Square, intending to perform a blood sacrifice ceremony with the lives of tens of thousands of people in order to desecrate the statue of the Divine Emperor.

This is the most common method used by heretics. Every time they conquer a place, they will desecrate the holy statue of the God-Emperor and then kill all loyal believers.

Such blasphemous behavior was absolutely unacceptable to the church, and the church stood in full force to protest.

Those fanatical priests and crusaders charged to the front line wielding hammers and scepters, swearing to defend the glory of the God-Emperor to the death!

Eventually, the heretical rebels were driven out of the Upper Nest District, but the church also suffered heavy casualties and was nearly destroyed.

Today, only Bishop Donnie Moore and several clergy remain in the church.

Ron followed Bayev up the high stairs, and Carter led the guards behind him.

Since this was a church, they all unloaded their heavy weapons.

Soon, a group of people walked into the church hall.

As he stepped into the hall, Ron felt a solemn and sacred atmosphere coming towards him.

The sun shines through the colorful dome that is tens of meters high. The dome is surrounded by reliefs of the God-Emperor leading the Primarchs to fight against heretics.

There were children with white wings on their backs and wrapped in scripture strips flying in the air, and their exposed mechanical parts could be vaguely seen.

That is the Cherubim of the Church.

The image of the Cherubim is close to that of child angels. They are artificial creations, a combination of flesh and mechanical accessories, and are smeared with special holy oil.

Their status is equivalent to that of mechanical servants, but they have a certain degree of independent activity and intelligence, and are servants of the state church priests.

The holy sunlight shone down, and the cherubim flew to Ron, chanting hymns of gratitude to the Supreme God-Emperor.

Ron noticed someone's eyes on him, turned around and saw an old priest in a robe.

That was the last bishop of the Ers Church headquarters, the old pastor Donnie Moore, who looked quite old.

His mechanical arm was holding a scepter with the Sky Eagle logo and scriptures embedded in it, and his eagle-like sharp eyes were staring over here.

Did he see something? Why is he staring at me?

Ron felt a little scared.

Just when he was worried, Bayev beside him reminded him appropriately: "Bishop Doni's eyesight is not very good..."

Bayev greeted Bishop Doni loudly: "Your Excellency, our governor is here!"

Hearing this, Bishop Doni's eyes suddenly lit up, his gaze softened, and he walked over here quickly.

"Praise the God Emperor!"

Bishop Doni walked up to Ron and excitedly took his hand: "Your Excellency the Governor, you are finally here"

Ron was puzzled by the other party's extremely enthusiastic attitude.

What exactly is going on?

Bayev seemed to be very familiar with Bishop Doni, and said directly: "As mentioned before, our master has been attacked by heretics, and we need your help to take a look."

Hearing this, Bishop Doni nodded and agreed: "Of course, I have been waiting for a long time."

“Let’s get started now.”

Bishop Doni looked at Ron with sharp eyes, then pulled him to the Emperor's shrine.

The front of the shrine was filled with candles, emitting a rich scent of holy oil.

“You can relax a little bit”

Bishop Donnie patted Ron's hand, signaling him not to be too nervous.

He used the spiritual connection to command the cherubim to bring holy water and sprinkle it on Ron, and then read the scriptures and prayed. Bishop Donnie closed his eyes and chanted the scriptures loudly, while the cherubim hovered over his head and sang for him.

Bayev stood behind the two men, waiting nervously.

He gave Carter a look and they had already made a plan before coming.

If any problems arise during the test or Bishop Doni behaves excessively, they will immediately protect the Governor and evacuate the church.

No matter whether Ron fell into darkness or made a deal with the devil, they would follow him till death.

Such is their unquestionable loyalty!

When the prayer was halfway through, Ron felt an energy similar to psychic energy surrounding him, exploring his body and soul consciousness.

As expected, priests can use powers similar to psychic powers.

Although they are not psykers, it has been proven that their worship of and prayers to the God-Emperor can produce effects similar to psychic powers.

Bishop Doni is using the will of the Emperor of God to investigate Ron.

If he were an ordinary person, everything he did would be exposed. Even if he was a powerful psychic, his secrets would be exposed to Bishop Doni's sight.

No darkness can escape the will of the God-Emperor.

But Ron did not fall into darkness, and with the existence of the little sun, his psychic power was much stronger than that of Bishop Donnie.

Under Ron's control, the psychic power from the little sun quickly protected his consciousness, and intentionally exposed part of Ron Grant's soul for the other party to investigate.

After a while, the force left Ron's body, which meant the investigation was over.

Bishop Doni looked up at Ron with a smile: “With the blessing of the Emperor, there is no trace of heresy on you, and the energy of the warp has not had much impact on you.

There is nothing wrong with your body and spirit, but you are a little weak and need to rest well and restrain yourself a little..."

As he said this, he gave Ron a look that said you know what I mean.

Ok……

Ron immediately understood that Bishop Donny was pointing out that he had kidney deficiency.

He could only nod along.

After all, he had just come out of the Palace of Slaanesh not long ago and was indeed very weak.

"In short, just take a good rest and you will be fine," Bishop Doni concluded.

"God, I'm glad you're alright!"

Hearing this, Bayev relaxed completely, and a smile appeared on his usually serious face: "Mr. Doni, thank you very much!"

"I am just following the guidance of the God-Emperor and saving the lost lambs."

Bishop Donnie responded with a smile, then he turned and stared at Ron: "Your Excellency Governor, there is a question that I need you to explain. You are a psychic now, right?"

Ron's heart ached, and he suddenly remembered one thing: the church didn't seem to have a good impression of psychics.

The Imperial Ecclesiarchy is in many ways the embodiment of the Imperium itself, uniting humanity in the service of the Emperor and the Imperium.

The basic precepts of the Empire's state religion are called the Empire's Creed.

These include: all humans must believe in the Emperor, hate xenos and heretics, and recognize that psykers and mutations among humans are terrible threats that must be controlled.

All of these precepts derive from what the Emperor himself preached during the Great Crusade, and are accepted as Imperial Truth.

The priests of the church will basically defend these commandments with their lives in order to remain loyal to the God-Emperor!
If a psychic falls into the hands of the church, he will naturally have no good ending.

The most likely scenario is that they will be imprisoned and sent to the black ship, then transported to Holy Terra for further treatment.

"Your Excellency the Governor?"

Bishop Donnie looked at Ron and continued to ask: "You haven't answered my question yet."

 Thank you, Emperor Knight
Thanks to the boss "Why don't you thank Brother Emperor" for the reward!
