Chapter 25: One-Eyed Yari and Cunning Keith

Chapter 25: One-Eyed Yari and Cunning Keith

Boom boom boom!
The shells from the Minotaur self-propelled artillery whizzed towards the incoming wave of mutants.

The artillery blasted out vacuum zones one after another in the tide of mutants, but those areas were quickly filled by a steady stream of mutants.

They seemed endless, shrieking and rushing towards the defenders' positions.

"Fire!"

The defense company commander, Ari Rogge, opened his scarlet mechanical eye and pulled the trigger first, followed by the other soldiers in the position.

Automatic rifles, heavy machine guns and other weapons spewed out fire snakes, and the interlaced bullet chains swept towards the attacking mutants, and blood and flesh flew everywhere.

Under the suppression of firepower, the mutant tide was like a tide hitting a dam, and the offensive suddenly came to a standstill.

But this situation did not last long.

The mutants coming from behind stepped on the corpses of their own kind and continued to attack.

Soon, scattered mutants broke through the ammunition chains and rushed towards the positions.

"Heavy infantry, stop them!"

Row after row of heavy infantrymen wearing shell armor came out.

They wielded power axes and chainswords to intercept mutants that broke into their positions.

Mutants crashed into the room one after another, then were hacked to death, with blood and flesh splattering everywhere.

Although the defense line of the position was dense, there were still some who slipped through the heavy infantry's interception and attacked the unprotected ordinary soldiers.

"what!"

The mutant tackled a soldier and ripped him open.

The soldier wailed, and a volley of bullets came, killing him and the mutant together.

This is the tacit understanding among the soldiers to reduce pain.

No one will back down.

Because the area five kilometers behind the position is a residential area, and their families are there.

"Go to hell, you scumbags!"

Yari's mechanical arm swung the chainsaw sword, cutting the mutant flying towards him in half.

Blood and flesh splattered on his face, making his scarlet artificial eye look even more hideous.

He roared, "Hold on, just hold on for another fifteen minutes and we'll be able to wipe out all these damn things!"

This was the second wave of mutants this month, and the Defense Corps already had plenty of experience with this.

As the battle continued, the soldiers began to tire.

More and more soldiers were knocked down and eaten by mutants and were unable to resist at all.

Screams rang out one after another on the battlefield.

"Damn the logistics department! We can't even fill our stomachs, how can we have the energy to fight!"

The defense corps' military supplies are the responsibility of the Royal Court District's logistics department.

But those administrative officials didn't care about the lives of the soldiers at all.

Today, the SADF is under increasing combat pressure, but the soldiers' rations have been severely reduced.

They are almost the same as the workers, so where does their fighting power come from?

"Kill! Kill these disgusting monsters!"

Yarui roared and rushed forward, but was knocked down by the mutant due to a moment of negligence.

When he pulled out his pistol and blew the head of the mutant on his body, more mutants pounced on him.

No time to react!

Bang bang bang!
That was the beautiful sound of a bolt pistol.

The bullets hit the mutants' heads accurately, sending them to meet the Chaos Gods.

"You're not dead, are you, One-Eyed?"

The gentle voice of the trainee staff officer, the cunning boy Keith Wright, sounded, and he loaded the bullet pistol as he spoke.

"I can't die. My father has always said that I have a strong life since I was a child. Even if everyone dies, I will not die."

Yarui got up and spat out a mouthful of blood foam: "So they are all dead, and I am the only one alive!" He stared at Keith and asked: "Where did you hide just now?"

Keith was known in the company for being cunning and cautious in his actions.

As soon as the battle started, he disappeared from sight.

But what is even more strange is that he always appears at the critical moment and achieves rich results.

It’s just the blessing of the Emperor of God. This is how Keith always explains his luck.

"Where can you go? I'll always be behind you, observing the battlefield."

The Yari are known as veterans who have fought hundreds of battles and never died. It is relatively safe to hide behind them.

"Sly Boy"

Yarui was somewhat disdainful of Keith's behavior: "A man must face his true fears!"

"I'm using my brain, unlike a beast like you!"

As Case spoke, he raised his gun and pointed it behind him, with the muzzle just poking into the mouth of a mutant who was about to launch a sneak attack.

squeak?
Bang! Before the mutant could react, the explosive bomb shattered his head.

"I crawled out from the bottom nest. If I'm not a beast, then what am I?"

Yari grabbed a mutant by the neck, threw it to the ground, and stomped on its head.

He panted slightly and looked at Keith: "Did you see anything?"

"Have you noticed that this wave of mutants is much weaker than the previous ones?"

"It seems to be a little weaker." Yarui estimated while chopping: "These ghosts are not as ferocious as before."

“They seem to be running away”

Keith frowned, as if he had figured something out: "No, they are just running for their lives!"

"why?"

"This means something even scarier is chasing them, and it's coming soon!"

After figuring this out, Keith made a prompt decision: "Quickly find the communicator, we must report this to the commander and let everyone be alert!"

Boom!

Just as he was about to take action, a loud noise was heard from the distant position and smoke and dust rose from the explosion.

That's their first pipeline line!
The explosion occurred behind the lines.

This proved that something had completely penetrated their defense line, and the location of the explosion happened to be the command post where their defense corps commander was located!

This is trouble!
"Damn monster, kid, what should we do?" Yarui was also a little confused at this moment.

"Let's take care of our own front first."

Keith's face was heavy. He listened attentively, then looked toward the dark entrance of the transport pipeline: "There's a big guy coming towards us!"

The vibration sound inside the transport pipeline became more and more obvious, as if something huge was running wildly, making a clanging sound!
Yarui also noticed it now. He swallowed and said, "It's a really big one!"

"Judging from the footsteps, that guy must weigh at least five tons!"

Keith took a deep breath and said, "Prepare for defense!"

At this time, no mutants had come out of the transport pipeline, and the remaining scattered mutants were also dealt with by the soldiers.

Everyone's attention shifted to the rumbling transport pipeline; something even more terrifying was about to come out!

"Prepare defense!"

Ares roared, "Aim all your weapons at the hole, and attack if anything comes out! Smash that damn monster to pieces for me!"

After the order was issued, the self-propelled artillery on the position readjusted their angles and targeted the entrance of the transport pipeline.

The soldiers re-formed their formation and aimed their guns at the cave entrance.

Everyone held their breath, waiting for the monster to appear!
Roar! ! !
A terrifying roar came from the transport pipeline.

The sound was shrill and terrifying, as if it was going to tear everything apart!

The pressure instantly sent chills down the spines of the warriors present, and a sense of fear surged in their hearts.

The monster is coming!
