Chapter 176, Abstract Works, Received Newspaper

Chapter 176, Abstract Works, Received Newspaper
Library reading room.

Jiang Zhe put down the album in his hand, closed his eyes, leaned back in his chair, and let his brain rest. After looking at many modern paintings in a row, he felt a little confused.

"Jiang Zhe!" Hearing someone calling him in a very low voice, he opened his eyes, turned around and saw Lan Xin standing behind him holding a painting album and a sketchbook.

"Are you coming to the library too?" He pulled out the chair next to him and motioned Lan Xin to sit down and talk.

Lan Xin hesitated for a moment. There were many empty seats in the reading room, and few people gathered together. It would be awkward for her to sit with Jiang Zhe. However, seeing that Jiang Zhe was interested in talking to her, in order to avoid attracting attention, she finally sat next to Jiang Zhe and gently put down the album.

"What are you reading?" She looked at the two picture albums in front of Jiang Zhe. "Munch and Freud's picture albums? Are you starting to be interested in modern paintings?"

Jiang Zhe expressed his troubles.

Lan Xin was somewhat relieved: "We are still studying traditional painting, so we don't have to worry about this kind of problem."

She looked at Jiang Zhe in silence and gave him some advice: "You can change some of your exercises into abstract paintings, like Kandinsky."

Jiang Zhe replied: "Thank you. If I can't think of any other way, I can only try your suggestion."

Lan Xin said: "I am a bystander and can see things more clearly. You can also try to add other materials to the oil painting..."

She gave a lot of suggestions, and regardless of whether they were reliable or not, they finally helped Jiang Zhe broaden his thinking.

Jiang Zhe asked Lan Xin: "What are you painting recently?"

"We started copying the murals." Lan Xin pointed to the borrowed album and said, "Some of our professional teachers are considering the path of traditional Chinese painting and conducting various painting experiments."

The two exchanged their experiences in art, and Jiang Zhe felt relaxed both physically and mentally.

After gaining some inspiration from the communication, he said goodbye to Lan Xin and came to the class painting studio.

In the studio, many students have already started creating.

Jiang Zhe watched his classmates' works with great interest.

Faced with the teacher's requirements, most students chose abstract and subjective ways of expression. Even hardworking students like Fu Min began to let themselves go.

She painted a layer of pink-green base color on the canvas, then dotted some irregular blocks with white, and then began to stare at the picture.

Jiang Zhe didn't have the courage to ask whether the painting was finished.

He returned to his easel and found several landscape sketches in his sketchbook. He flattened the space and details in them, then used watercolors to color them and experiment with color effects.

Finally, he chose a sketch of a small fishing port as the starting point for his creation.

Jiang Zhe transformed fishing boats, docks, waves, people and other elements into irregular blocks of color, and then disassembled and reassembled some of the blocks of color, making these blocks of color and lines look like shadow paintings or pointillist paintings.

He thought about it, slightly adjusted the color relationship, and when he was satisfied, he began to prepare the oil paints.

After the preparations were completed, Jiang Zhe did not make a draft, but directly began to mix colors and paint with a scraper.

The colors blended with a paint scraper are not mixed well, and some of the mixing is even done on the canvas. The image shaping effect is more rough than the brush shaping effect, which can make the colors pile up very thickly, and some local texture effects are very special.

Jiang Zhe painted very quickly. In order to increase the stacking effect, he pasted some dried oil paint on the palette onto the canvas.
This kind of painting process is very enjoyable and stress-relieving.

It took him only three hours to complete the preliminary creation.

Jiang Zhe put down the scraper and examined the picture.

Compared with the color draft and the sketch, this painting is between similar and dissimilar.

Jiang Zhe does not consider the narrative content of the picture, but only looks at the relationship between black, white and gray, as well as the color tone.

He felt that some colors were not harmonious, so he crossed out some of the colors and increased the density contrast of the color blocks. After achieving the desired effect, he stopped painting decisively.

Jiang Zhe thought that if he reviewed his work again after some time, he might make some new discoveries, so he went back to his dormitory to rest.

That afternoon, he received a newspaper mailed by Wang Zhen.

He opened the newspaper and quickly turned to page 4, where he saw a report on the province's annual art exhibition.

Jiang Zhe read the text quickly and found his own watercolor painting among the pictures of published works.

The printed picture is not big, with small words below. Title of the work: Airport at Night. Author: Jiang Zhe.

The joy of seeing my work actually appear in print media is indescribable.

He took the newspaper home and wanted to share his joy with his parents.

Mr. and Mrs. Jiang Yi were surprised and happy to see their son come back.

Jiang Zhe took out the newspaper: "Mom and Dad, I have good news for you."

While Xu Li was preparing the fruit, she asked, "What's the good news?"

“My work was in the newspaper.”

"Really? Let me see." Jiang Yi quickly turned off the TV and took the newspaper: "Where is it?"

Jiang Zhe turned to the fourth page of the newspaper and pointed out his work. Xu Li put down the fruit and came over while wiping her hands.

Jiang Yi brought the newspaper close to his eyes and stared at it: "Is it really your work?!"

Xu Li leaned closer to the newspaper: "Let me see."

Jiang Yi held the newspaper in one hand and pointed at the picture with the other: "Look, this is it."

"I never thought that your work could be published in the newspaper." Xu Li smiled happily after seeing the picture clearly.

Jiang Yi took the newspaper and read it over and over again. "This is the newspaper from the provincial capital. Is there any report in our Binhai newspaper?"

"No, the exhibition was held in the provincial capital."

Jiang Yi was both excited and regretful: "The printing is not very clear."

Xu Li said, "Don't be picky, Xiaozhe, let's have dinner at home today and celebrate."

"Okay, I think so." Jiang Yi agreed.

Jiang Zhe said, "Mom and Dad, let's go out to eat."

Jiang Yi carefully put away the newspaper: "You must keep this newspaper well."

Jiang Zhe said: "A friend sent me five copies."

"Put it away and keep it as a souvenir."

While Jiang Zhe's family was happily out celebrating, many people in the provincial capital were also reading newspapers.

Sister Liao was sitting in the office, reading yesterday's newspaper with great interest.

President Cui of the Art Society was on the phone in his room: "...This matter needs to be publicized... No matter what, our members' works have been published in the provincial newspapers, and they need to be included in the work summary..."

Bi Puguang slammed the newspaper onto the table.
"What's going on? Why isn't my work listed there?" Because he drank too much while entertaining guests, by the time he saw the newspaper, the news of his work being published was already yesterday.

His friend sat on the sofa and said jokingly: "Don't be angry, the Chinese painting group has already had a number of works published, and they have more experience than you."

"Look, there's actually a freshman's work on it. His work is on it, so why can't mine be on it?"

"Print media don't choose works randomly, there must be a reason."

Bi Puguang stared at his friend: "What do you mean, I worked in vain?"

"How can you say it was a wasted meal? Didn't you get to meet a distinguished guest?" his friend replied with a smile.

"He agreed..." Before Bi Puguang could finish, his friend stood up. "We also helped you with your case. You should think about it." After saying that, he slammed the door and left.

Bi Puguang looked at the works in the newspaper and became more and more angry. He grabbed the newspaper and tore it to pieces.
