Chapter 30, Model, Buying Clothes (Seeking Follow-up Reading)
The training class ended on Friday.

Jiang Zhe asked Chen Yan who was packing, "Do you have time tomorrow? I promised to draw a portrait for you. I'm ready."

Chen Yan's eyes lit up, and she quickly packed her painting supplies into the box. "I thought you had forgotten about this. Now?"

Jiang Zhe said: "The light is too weak now, how about tomorrow?"

Chen Yan agreed: "I'm free tomorrow morning and afternoon."

Jiang Zhe said, "Tomorrow morning, come to my studio?"

"it is good."

Chen Yan was a little surprised when she heard Jiang Zhe tell her the address: "Isn't this next to the test center?"

Jiang Zhe nodded: "My studio is right there. I'll wait for you there when the time comes."

"What clothes should I wear and what hairstyle should I have?"

Jiang Zhe said: "It's up to you. You don't need to prepare deliberately. I can modify it on the screen."

……

It was a sunny Saturday morning.

Chen Yan arrived at the agreed location and saw Jiang Zhe standing on the side of the road waving at her, so she ran over happily. "Are you waiting impatiently?"

Jiang Zhe looked at Chen Yan and said, "I didn't have to wait long. You arrived early."

Today, Chen Yan changed her school uniform into girlish clothes, looking even more youthful and beautiful.

"Let's go and visit your studio." She followed Jiang Zhe to an old building and turned around to look at the distance between the building and the test site.

"So close? Why didn't you tell me earlier? If I had known, I wouldn't have gone home at noon when I was taking the exam."

Jiang Zhe hummed, "Then, wait for your mother to catch you?"

The two of them came to the door of the studio, talking and laughing.

Jiang Zhe opened the door: "Come in and take a look."

Chen Yan entered the studio and her eyes lit up.

The corridors of the old building are dark and old, while the studio is brightly lit, which are two extremes.

The items in the studio are simple. In addition to the necessary furniture, there are also easels and painting tools arranged in an orderly manner. On one wall, there are more than a dozen exercises hanging.

All in all, it is very clean, with a strong artistic atmosphere and the warmth of life, and it is not as messy as imagined.

Chen Yan looked at the thick pile of scraps in the corner and said, "No wonder you draw so well and work so hard. I've been to our professional teacher's studio and it doesn't have as good an atmosphere as yours."

The studio is not big and the visiting time is very short.

Jiang Zhe asked Chen Yan to sit down and prepared hot drinks and fruit snacks for her.

Chen Yan was not restrained and chatted with Jiang Zhe while eating. After they had a good chat, she asked, "How do you want to draw?"

Jiang Zhe already had a plan in mind, and he had been observing Chen Yan again for some time.

"I want to paint a moment in your life. So, you can move around here freely, just like you are alone at home, watch whatever you want, play whatever you want, sit down and rest, and use the most relaxed posture. I will observe from the side, capture the good moments, take pictures with the camera, and then let you choose. Do you mind?"

This method is also used by some great painters.

"Okay." Chen Yan thought about it and agreed.

In the following time, Jiang Zhe deliberately reduced his presence and allowed Chen Yan to walk around the room freely, eat snacks, and read books.

Chen Yan also gradually adapted. Sometimes she would pick up her painting tools and paint a few strokes. Occasionally she would go to the balcony to enjoy the scenery, and even kick off her shoes and sit cross-legged on a chair.

About an hour later, Jiang Zhe had taken dozens of photos.

"Come and take a look, there are some good ones." Jiang Zhe imported the photos into the computer.

The two browsed the photos together.

After reading photography books and practicing, Jiang Zhe's skills are gradually improving.

Chen Yan points out any photos she likes.

Jiang Zhe wrote down the photos and picked out two that he liked. "I think this photo of you sitting on a chair reading a book is good. You are looking up, against the light, and your face has a jade-like luster. You can adjust the angle a little to highlight this effect of your face. In addition, the chair is not very good. I want to replace it with a European-style fabric sofa in the painting. Pair it with white or light-colored home clothes. As for the hairstyle, I need to experiment and compare it to find the best effect."

Chen Yan nodded excitedly: "Okay, okay."

Jiang Zhe clicked on another photo: "This photo of looking out the window is also good. But I want to change the background."

Chen Yan stood up: "What moves do you like? I'll do it again."

Jiang Zhe set up a small square table on the balcony and asked Chen Yan to sit on the chair, with her elbows resting on the edge of the table, one hand on her chin, looking out the window.

The sunlight shines into the room and falls on Chen Yan, creating a quiet beauty.

Jiang Zhe took photos and then used sketches to quickly express his thoughts.

Chen Yan stood up and walked to Jiang Zhe to watch.

In the picture, I have long hair hanging down, with flowing curtains and some green plants behind me. On the table in front of me, there is a checkered tablecloth, with snacks, fruits and a book on it.

She imagined the effect of the painting after it was filled with colors and couldn't help but exclaim: "This painting feels so warm."

"Thank you." Jiang Zhe looked at the sketch and had a sudden idea.

"You lie on your back in the chair. Pretend to close your eyes and rest?"

"What are you doing?" Chen Yan walked to the chair.

Jiang Zhe continued to direct: "Take off your coat."

Chen Yan paused and stared at Jiang Zhe in disbelief. Although she had thought of some possibilities, she was still embarrassed to be asked so directly.

"Don't get me wrong, I just want to take a look at your proportions. Although I can change the painting, it is based on you as a reference after all, so the changes cannot be too outrageous." Jiang Zhe's tone was calm and serious.

Chen Yan was very confident in her conditions. Hearing what Jiang Zhe said, she took off her coat in a huff, but ultimately did not remove any more restraints.

Jiang Zhe instructed Chen Yan to get into a comfortable position on the chair, and he recorded her movements with sketches while observing her proportions.

Chen Yan's figure is slightly thin and very coordinated, but adjustments still need to be made for the best picture effect.

After finishing the painting, Jiang Zhe looked at the materials and felt that it was not perfect.

He looked at his watch and said, "Chen Yan, it's almost noon. I'll treat you to a meal. In the afternoon, I'll buy you some clothes. You can try them on."

"I'm so sorry to ask you to spend money. I have plenty of clothes to use."

Jiang Zhe explained: "I'll help you choose. According to the requirements of the picture. Come on, let's go eat and talk while we eat."

He took Chen Yan to a Western restaurant and gave the explanation during the meal.

"Chen Yan, I don't want to hide it from you. I might use you as a model to create a few paintings. If the paintings are sold one day, I can give you a reward."

The first thing that came to Chen Yan's mind was, "Draw a lot of pictures? What do you want to do by staying in the studio? Isn't the person in front of you real?
What she asked was: "You want to sell paintings? Are you sure? I don't mean to look down on you, I just think that people who buy paintings can also see me, right?"

Jiang Zhe said: "If that day comes, people who buy paintings usually won't pay attention to who the model is."

He felt that this matter must be handled in detail with Chen Yan, and that he should also give her a reward after selling the painting to avoid disputes.

Chen Yan didn’t think Jiang Zhe could sell paintings at this stage, so she readily agreed.

After lunch, Jiang Zhe and Chen Yan went shopping in a clothing store.

He did not deliberately choose some big brands, but chose suitable styles according to the needs of the picture and let Chen Yan try them on. There were home clothes, pajamas, dresses, shoes and hats, etc.

Chen Yan was in a good mood when she first started trying on clothes, but as they visited several stores and bought more clothes, she became more and more upset.

She stopped Jiang Zhe from picking out clothes. "Jiang Zhe, you bought too many."

Jiang Zhe picked up a suspender pajamas nonchalantly and handed it to Chen Yan. "Don't worry. I have enough money."
