Chapter 38: Divorce Letter

Chapter 38: Divorce Letter
After coming out from the old lady, the fourth wife Wang Zhenzhen kept mumbling with a gloomy face: "Mother really can't stand seeing the backyard quiet. We are all virtuous and considerate, but mother is still not satisfied. She wants to stuff people into the room regardless of whether they are willing or not."

Seeing that Li and Qingqing were silent, she tugged at the corner of Qingqing's clothes and said, "Third sister-in-law, the three of them just came back, and it's warm now. Can you really bear to let them go?"

Qingqing smiled faintly and said perfunctorily: "This is the mother's concern for her son. As a daughter-in-law, I will obey her orders."

"You are such a good daughter-in-law." Wang Zhenzhen saw that Qingqing was not getting the message, so she said something sarcastically, and pointed in the direction of Wutong Garden where Lin Ruoqing lived, and said, "I heard that mother is planning to make that girl her equal wife. This equal wife is different from a concubine, so please keep an eye on it, sister-in-law."

"Forget it." Seeing Wang Zhenzhen speaking without restraint again, Li squinted at her and said angrily, "It's nothing. Don't make up rumors here."

"Tsk..." Wang Zhenzhen snorted coldly, and then said to Li: "Don't you already have two concubines in your eldest brother's room? Mother just put them in our room, but why did she not let your room go? I thought mother really cared about my eldest sister-in-law."

Li secretly rolled her eyes at the chattering Wang Zhenzhen and said calmly, "It's true that my mother loves me, but she can't surpass you. You are the old lady's niece."

Wang Zhenzhen was so angry that she was speechless. She had a lot of resentment in her heart but had no place to vent it, so she turned around and glared fiercely at the girl she had chosen. The girl was so scared that she shrank her neck and dared not breathe.

When they returned to Lan Ya Residence, Ling Zhi could not help but complain as soon as she entered the house: "The Third Young Master is not interested in women, but you still choose someone for him. From what I can see, the Third Young Master is really angry this time."

The old lady winked at Lingzhi and said, "Each room should take one. If our wife doesn't choose one, it would seem stingy. Well, just take one. My son-in-law is not interested in women, so he won't necessarily touch her."

Lingzhi nodded and asked Qingqing, "Madam, where should we place Jinu?"

Qingqing thought for a moment and replied, "Let's put her in the east wing, it's more spacious there." Lingzhi nodded in agreement, and Qingqing instructed, "Her food, clothing and expenses should be arranged according to the rules of the mansion. Spread my words, don't let the people in the courtyard embarrass her, and assign a little maid to serve her."

Lingzhi wrote down everything, and when she was about to leave, Qingqing added, "After I settle the people, I'll go and tell the young master."

Lingzhi pouted and walked out the door.

For two days, Qingqing didn't see Shen Han again. She knew that he was angry with her, so she drove him back to the study and took a concubine for him. For a proud man like Shen Han, these were things that touched his self-esteem.

But Qingqing didn't want to accommodate others blindly anymore. She hadn't had a good day since she married into the Marquis's Mansion. She used to have hope for Shen Han, but now with all the things happening one after another, her hope was gradually extinguished.

It's not that I'm discouraged, but at least it's not as passionate as before.

Qingqing seldom left the yard. On this day, when she was returning from paying her respects to the old lady, she happened to meet Shen Han when passing by the garden.

Today should be a day off. He was wearing a dark suit and was walking outside with Wu Ya, probably going hunting or riding a horse.

From a distance, the two saw each other, but Shen Han had no intention of speaking until they came up to each other. Qingqing bowed slightly to him and said, "General, are you going out?"

Shen Han then raised his eyes to look at the man. He had a cold face, nodded indifferently, and replied indifferently, "Yes."

"Have a nice trip, General." Qingqing said nothing more, just nodded slightly and was about to continue walking back.

The courtyard was full of flowers. She was wearing a plain dress, walking among the colorful flowers. She felt like a fairy and was very eye-catching.

Shen Han subconsciously cast his gaze on her. When she was about to pass him, Shen Han said, "I rarely see you come out. Are you going to pay respects to your mother?"

Qingqing stopped and simply replied with a "hmm", then was about to leave again.

"Are you deliberately trying to alienate me?" Shen Han's face was cold.

Qingqing looked at Shen Han in surprise and asked, "General, why do you say that?" Shen Han laughed in anger and replied, "You drove me to the study without telling me and married me a concubine without my permission. Don't you mean to alienate me on purpose?"

Facing Shen Han's questioning, Qing Qing said calmly: "Everything has a cause and an effect. The rift between husband and wife was not caused by one person. The general cannot put all the responsibility on me."

After hearing this, Shen Han's expression softened. He turned to look at Qing Qing and asked, "But what did Shen do wrong that Madam is bothered by?"

Qingqing didn't know how to answer for a moment.

She couldn't reveal his private affairs such as visiting prostitutes in public.

Shen Han glanced at Qingqing, who seemed to be hesitant to speak. He frowned, a nervous look on his face, and couldn't help asking, "What's the matter?"

"It's a long story, but it's actually not a big deal." Qingqing said perfunctorily.

Seeing that she was unwilling to speak, Shen Han said unhappily, "We are husband and wife, Madam, just speak up if you have anything to say. Why do you have to be so secretive and make people feel unhappy?"

Perhaps out of anxiety, Shen Han subconsciously raised his voice when he said this. Even if this battle-hardened general was slightly angry, his aura was enough to captivate people.

The servants around were all horrified upon seeing this, and were so frightened that they dared not even breathe.

Qingqing raised her eyes and glanced at Shen Han, without saying anything more, she walked away.

Seeing that the people had gone far away, Wu Ya glanced at Shen Han's face and tentatively said, "General, General Zhou and the others are still waiting, let's go."

Shen Han then started to move. After taking two steps, he stopped and said to Wu Ya, "Go and tell General Zhou that I have something urgent to do and I have to cancel my appointment with him today."

Having said that, without waiting for Wu Ya to speak again, Shen Han strode back to the inner courtyard.

He walked hurriedly and headed straight for Qingqing's Lan Ya Ju, but halfway there he turned back to the study.

A Jiang was cleaning the study room. Seeing his master coming back, he was surprised and asked, "Sir, didn't you go to the horse race with General Zhou? Why are you back? Did you leave anything behind?"

"I'm not going today." Shen Han sat down on the chair in front of the window, looking at Ajiang.

Ah Jiang was so frightened by the look on his face that he hesitated and asked, "Sir, why are you looking at me like this? Is there something you want to ask me?"

Shen Han was silent for a while, then asked, "Have you heard anything about Madam recently?"

Seeing that Ajiang was confused, Shen Han explained, "Is there anyone in the mansion gossiping about Madam behind her back, or is there any gossip in Madam's courtyard about me and Madam?"
