Chapter 62 I Know You Miss Home

Chapter 62 I Know You Miss Home
After a while, a maid came in and said that the meal was ready, so Zhang called Qingqing to the hall to eat.

There was a round table with seven or eight dishes on it, both meat and vegetarian, which were very thoughtfully matched, showing the host's attentiveness in entertaining his guests.

"They are all home-cooked meals. We are a small family and don't have anything decent to treat you."

Qingqing sat with the Zhangs and Dr. Xiaorong, and suddenly she felt a long-lost sense of home. Her heart warmed, and she said to Zhang with emotion: "I have no relatives in the capital, but I didn't expect to meet my parents' old friends. I am really happy in my heart."

"Silly child, from now on, this is your mother's home." Zhang said readily.

Just as everyone was about to start eating, the medicine boy from the clinic in front ran in and said, "Master, there are a few injured people here. They are seriously injured. Please go and take a look."

"Why were they injured? How many people were injured?" Upon hearing this, Hua Yixian put down his chopsticks and asked as he stood up.

"They were all quarry workers. There was a landslide in the mine, which crushed some people. Five of them were injured, two of them were seriously injured and had already passed out."

Following the medicine boy's words, Hua Yixian strode out, and Doctor Xiaorong followed him out.

Seeing that the good meal was disrupted again, and glancing at her thin husband's hurried back, Zhang sighed and said, "Being a doctor is like this, there is no time to rest all day. Now, your uncle is getting older and older, and he is a little unable to do it." She picked up some dishes for Qingqing with a little apology and said, "Who knows how long they will be busy, let's eat first."

"Aunt, I want to go over and take a look." Qingqing said.

Zhang knew Qingqing was a doctor, but she still stopped her and said, "Don't go over there. You are the wife of the Marquis's Mansion now, how can you show up in public? If your husband's family finds out, they will blame you."

"With so many people injured, how can uncle and Xiaorong take care of them all? I'll go over and lend a hand."

Seeing Qingqing's insistence, Zhang sighed and said, "All of you doctors really have the same temper. That's it. I know I can't stop you."

As he said that, he stood up and found a mask for Qingqing to wear, saying, "Let's go, I'll take you there, just don't let anyone outside see you."

Qingqing followed Zhang out of the back house, and as soon as they stepped into the clinic, a strong smell of blood hit them in the face.

"Doctor, please save my son. He is only seventeen. If anything happens to my son, I will die."

"Doctor, how is my husband? Doctor, please save him."

The family members waiting outside were crying and begging helplessly, all of them looking sad and at a loss.

"Don't make any noise. If you do that, you might disturb the doctor inside who is treating your injuries. Just wait quietly. Crying will help."

Although Zhang was not a doctor, she had spent most of her life following her husband, who was a doctor, and had seen many such scenes. She quickly calmed down the crying family members outside, and then took Qingqing into the house.

The wooden beds in the room were already filled with injured people, three of whom had only superficial injuries. The medicine boy was applying medicine and bandaging them, while Hua Yixian and Xiaorong were doing their best to treat the two who were seriously injured.

Seeing Qingqing coming, Doctor Xiaorong called out to her, "Sister He, you're here just in time, help me."

Qingqing glanced at the injured man lying on the bed, opened his eyes and took a look, and said, "I'm afraid this man has injured his lungs. We need to seal his meridians first."

Xiao Rong said as she cleaned the rotten flesh off his body, "I wanted to give him some hemostatic medicine just now, but unfortunately it couldn't go in. Let me clean this big wound first and stop the bleeding."

Qingqing nodded and said, "You clean his wound and stop the bleeding. I will give him acupuncture to prevent his lungs from bleeding profusely."

As she spoke, Qingqing picked up the acupuncture needle and firmly inserted it into the patient's meridians. The two of them worked together for a long time before the patient's breathing gradually stabilized.

"How is the injured?" Hua Yixian finished treating the injured over there and came over to look at this side and asked. "Fortunately, he is out of danger now." Xiao Rong replied.

Hua Yixian came over and looked at the injured man lying on the bed, then took his wrist and carefully felt his pulse, saying, "The lungs are injured. If you can survive tonight, you can live."

"I'll stay here tonight." Xiao Rong said.

After treating the wounded, the moon was already high in the sky. Xiaorong sent Qingqing out and said gratefully, "Master and I may have to guard all night today. I just hope that these two can make it through the night and survive."

Qingqing understood Xiaorong's feelings. She held her hand and comforted her softly, "You were so busy that you didn't even have dinner. Eat something when you get home later. Don't overwork yourself."

"I'm fine." Xiao Rong looked back at Hua Yixian who was so tired that he was leaning on the chair to take a nap, and said distressedly: "It's just that Master is old and always works so hard. I'm really worried about his health."

Qingqing heard this and asked, "The clinic is so busy, why are there only you and Uncle Hua? Doesn't Uncle Hua have a son? Isn't there a son who inherited his legacy?"

Seeing Qingqing mention this, a sad look appeared on her smiling face, and she sighed and said, "Young Master is also a great doctor, but because of some things a few years ago, he had a conflict with Master and his son, and he is not in the capital now."

As he said this, he sighed and said, "If you were here, my master and I wouldn't have to work so hard."

When Qingqing returned to Lan Yaju, Shen Han had already returned.

"Are you going out?" he asked when he saw his wife.

Qingqing nodded, and then told Shen Han about the relationship between the Hua family and her parents: "I didn't expect that I still have old friends to rely on in the capital."

She was unbuttoning her coat while sighing, and when she turned around, she saw Shen Han holding an oil-paper bag in front of her.

"What is this?" Qingqing paused and asked.

As Shen Han opened the oil paper package bit by bit, he saw crystal clear brown snacks appearing before his eyes.

"Honey-fried fruit!" Qingqing stared at the snack and called out in surprise.

This is her favorite snack and a specialty from her hometown.

"Where did you get it from?" She raised her hand and took one and put it in her mouth. The familiar taste lingered between her lips and teeth, which was indescribably satisfying.

"I bought this from all the snack shops in Beijing. It's not as authentic as the ones in your hometown, but at least it can satisfy my craving."

Qingqing swallowed the snack in her mouth and said to Shen Han contentedly: "It tastes pretty much the same. I didn't expect that I could eat this here."

Hearing this, Shen Han raised his hand, picked up one and put it in her mouth. With a smile on his face, he said, "If you like it, I'll buy you another one."

Qingqing chewed the snacks he handed her and smiled at him.

"I know you've been missing home lately." He looked at her and said.

Qingqing nodded subconsciously, then shook her head again and replied: "I do miss the days in Shu, but it's okay."
