Chapter 73: Chu Yan was blackmailed?

Just before Chu Jingyan stepped out of the box, the waiter knocked on the door, looking anxious, "Sir, your child had a conflict with other children in the corridor, you should go and check it out."

Hearing this, Chu Jingyan and Meng Qingyi frowned tightly. Meng Qingyi stood up and asked, "Is the child okay?"

The waiter shook his head, paused for a moment and said, "The child is fine, but the other parent is adamant."

"Let's go, I'll go take a look." Chu Jingyan's pupils shrank slightly.

Restaurant corridor
When Chu Jingyan and Meng Qingyi arrived, a lot of onlookers had already gathered around, and the woman's shouting and cursing could be heard through the crowd.

Chu Jingyan pushed through the crowd and approached with Meng Qingyi. At this moment, the woman was pointing at the clerk who was protecting Chu Yan and yelling, "Stop meddling in my business. If he doesn't pay the money today, you can't leave."

"My son said he broke it, and you're still protecting him. Are you bullying us, an orphan and a widow?"

"Ma'am, calm down first." The clerk who was protecting Chu Yan said, "The kid said he didn't hit your child, he fell down by himself. If you don't believe me, we can check the surveillance."

"Why look at the surveillance video? It's his fault. My son would never lie." The woman said viciously.

"Son, tell me again, was it him who hit you?" The woman pulled the child aside, her eyes fierce.

The little boy shivered, his eyes a little blurry, "Yes, he was the one who hit me."

"And it broke my toy." The little boy held a robot broken into two pieces in his hand and showed it to everyone.

"What else is there to say? Call his parents and ask them to pay compensation."

Chu Yan stood behind the clerk with a serious face. When he saw Chu Jingyan coming over, he said in a high voice, "Dad."

"You are the parent of this child, so pay the money." The woman looked at Chu Jingyan, her eyes suddenly shining. He was quite good-looking, wearing casual clothes of unknown brand, which must have been very cheap. If he was willing, she could support him.

She didn't have much in other aspects but had a lot of money. A few years ago, she married a live-in son-in-law. She lived a life of luxury and debauchery outside, and her husband didn't dare to say anything. The more the woman thought about it, the more she thought it was feasible. She stroked her chin and stared at Chu Jingyan.

Chu Jingyan frowned. The woman's eyes were too explicit and made him very uncomfortable. His expression slowly darkened.

He sneered, "Isn't it inappropriate to ask for compensation before we know exactly what happened?"

"How come you don't understand? My son said that it was your child who hit him, he fell down, and broke his toys. Shouldn't you pay for it?" Although the woman had a crush on Chu Jingyan, she was not willing to suffer any loss.

Chu Jingyan smiled and looked at the woman, "Do you have any evidence? Can you prove that it was my son who hit her? Did anyone see it?"

The woman gritted her teeth and said, "What evidence do you want? My son will never lie."

Hearing this, the crowd around began to speak out:
"That's not right. We live in a society ruled by law now. We need evidence for everything we do. You can't conclude that someone else is wrong just based on what your son said."

"Just now the clerk asked to check the surveillance video, but you refused to do so. Are you feeling guilty?"

"Yes."

The woman fiercely glanced at the people who had spoken up and began to play the victim. "Okay, you just think we are easy to bully because we are orphans and widows. I'm going to call the police and let them make the decision for me."

"Hey, you, why are you still blaming others? When did we bully you, an orphan and a widow? We are clearly speaking based on the evidence."

"I think with a mother like you, your children may not be very honest."

The surroundings were suddenly in chaos. Chu Jingyan just looked at the clerk beside him, "Where is the monitoring room?" "Our colleagues have gone to copy the video and will be here soon." The clerk glanced at Chu Jingyan, suppressed the excitement in his heart, and said calmly.

Just then, a male clerk ran over with a laptop and said, "The video is here."

Suddenly, everyone around fell silent, and the video started playing under the operation of the store clerk.

The incident was very simple. After Chu Yan came out of the bathroom, he planned to return to the box, but after he walked a few meters away, he looked up and saw that the woman's son accidentally fell to the ground, and his toys were broken into pieces. Based on the principle of helping others, Chu Yan trotted over, said, "Are you okay?" and reached out to help the little boy up.

Unexpectedly, when he wanted to leave, the little boy grabbed him and shouted, "Mom, come out quickly." Their box was just opposite, and the woman appeared in the picture within a few seconds and began to pester him.

It turned out that the little boy broke his toy and was afraid that his mother would scold him, so he wanted to blame it on Chu Yan.

After a few minutes, the woman turned pale, tilted her head, and glared at her son fiercely.

"You've finished watching the video, what else do you have to say?"

"Your son fell down by himself, and the other kid was kind enough to help him up, but he was blackmailed. It really chilled the kid's heart."

"I don't know how to educate this child. He is so young and already knows how to blackmail others. What will happen when he grows up?"

"No wonder they say you should keep evidence before helping someone, in case you can't afford to pay the compensation."

People around began to condemn the woman. The woman's face looked very ugly. She said nothing, grabbed the child, rushed through the crowd, and left.

"What kind of person is this? He doesn't even apologize after misunderstanding someone else."

“The quality is really worrying.”

Meng Qingyi held Chu Yan's hand, sighed, and patted his head, "Chu Chu did a great job."

Chu Yan smiled, and his little face returned to its usual happy expression.

After a few minutes, the people surrounding had dispersed.

"Chu Yan, come here." Chu Jingyan waved his hand, "Say thank you to this sister."

"Mr. Chu, this is what I should do." The clerk looked at Chu Jingyan and blushed suddenly, "You're welcome."

"Thank you, sister." Chu Yan thanked the clerk politely. Just as the clerk was about to speak, the manager rushed over with a hurried look, "Boss Chu, I'm so sorry."

"The young master has been wronged. Don't worry, we will hold the mother and son accountable."

Chu Jingyan just nodded, glanced at the clerk before leaving, and then left with Chu Yan and Meng Qingyi.

After Chu Jingyan and the other two left, the manager looked at the clerk and asked, "What's your name?"

"My name is Lin Lei." the clerk replied.

"From today on, you are the foreman. Work hard." The manager patted Lin Lei on the shoulder with a smile on his face, "I am optimistic about you."

Lin Lei's eyes widened, her voice was excited, and she bowed, "Thank you, manager. I will do my best."

The manager nodded and walked away with a smile on his face. Lin Lei stayed where she was, staring at the direction where Chu Jingyan and the other two had left, her fists clenched involuntarily.
