Chapter 23 Statement
Chapter 23 Statement
"Your Highness."
The priest bowed slightly to Lannia, then naturally sat down on the sofa opposite. The other accompanying church members dispersed silently and occupied various positions in the reception room.
Lannia glanced around. Those church members were at least level four in strength, and the positions where they stood faintly formed a magical formation.
"As expected of a member of the Sun God Cult, he does not conceal his actions at all."
Of course, Lannia only dared to think about this in her heart. The Sun God Cult was a faith spread across several kingdoms and was backed by the true God. The high priest in front of her only needed to nod his head when facing the king. No matter in status or power, he was above Lannia.
Lanya looked away and saw a silver-haired elf girl sitting next to the priest.
She had never heard of the existence of elves in the Sun God Cult before.
"Master Priest, may I ask who she is?"
"She is a distinguished guest of the Sun God Cult. I thought she should participate in this conversation. I apologize for not informing you in time."
Lanya finished speaking and looked at the officiant in front of her.
"Someone is sheltering these undead spirits. Do you have any evidence?"
"There is no direct evidence."
The officiant narrowed his eyes.
"We have only found out that the owners of the attacked villages have almost all died of illness or accidents recently, and the few who are still alive have all closed their doors to visitors."
"Then we were attacked. The enemy first precisely attacked the teacher who was investigating in the caravan. Not long after the teacher escaped and returned, the city guards attacked the Shadow Crow Mercenary Group tavern where we were hiding, using the excuse of clearing out the undead."
"Of course, none of this is considered direct evidence."
"I won't say any more polite words. What exactly happened in Sagete City?"
The officiant did not respond and motioned for Lania to continue.
After all, this is a church that can write such words directly on the title page of the holy book.
After expressing his apologies, the chief priest went straight to the point without any hesitation.
"If our intelligence is correct, you just came back from Saget City, but the Shadow Crow Guards who accompanied you did not..."
This is how the Sun God Cult is. As long as they believe that something is right, they will do it regardless of other people's feelings and opinions.
The officiant paused and did not continue, waiting for Lanya.
"There are undead spirits rampaging near the city of Sagat."
The priest seemed to have a little apology on his face, but Lania knew that the priest would not think he had done anything wrong.
Lania took over.
Lania’s answer was straightforward.
"Their so-called crackdown is nothing but an act."
“Whether people curse or praise, the sun’s rays shine equally on everyone.”
"We know. We are curious as to why the city of Sagat is so slow in clearing out the undead."
The officiant was silent for a moment.
"How many people know that you went to Sagatte City?"
"We took some basic confidentiality measures when we set out this time. Not many people will know about this, but we certainly can't hide it from those forces in the royal city that have their own intelligence network."
The priest coughed twice and changed the subject.
"But the local nobles of Sagete won't have that much power in the royal city."
The priest stood up, he already had his answer in his mind.
"The Church of the Sun God quickly intervened."
"I want to reiterate that these are my own words."
The priest laughed when he heard Lania's words. "We have been observing you for a long time, Princess. Your one-sided statement is much more reliable than the so-called ironclad evidence in the hands of your brothers and sisters."
The priest waved his hand, and several church followers came over.
"We have reviewed all your training records. You eliminated banditry, dealt with monsters around the village, and cleared trade routes. Almost all of them were for the benefit of mortals. Some of your brothers are indeed capable, but their style of doing things..."
The priest didn't say anything else, but just pointed at the Sun God priests who were walking over.
Lannia could see that each of them had level five strength.
"They will remain here, if you will, on behalf of the church."
Anyone with a little common sense would know that asking church members to stay directly in the house of a certain heir was a very direct statement.
Lania's face still showed no expression, but she was obviously in a fierce conflict. The priest stood beside her, looking at her quietly, waiting for her answer.
Finally, Lannia raised her head and looked at the priest beside her.
“Of course, I welcome people from the church.”
A smile appeared on the priest's face.
"That would be perfect."
After saying this, he walked towards the door of the reception room with the remaining church followers.
Lanya followed them to the gate and saw that the silver-haired elf girl had been waiting there for some time.
"how come?"
Lania didn't notice when the elf left the sofa. She watched the elf whisper something to the priest.
"Sorry, there's one more thing."
The priest turned to Lania.
"This elf friend seems to have some personal matters to deal with here. I hope Your Highness can make it convenient for him."
The priest himself knew that this sudden and unexpected request was somewhat rude.
"I can guarantee with the reputation of the church that this distinguished guest will not do anything to harm you and your men."
What else could Lannia say? The elf looked very strong and had the church as a guarantor.
"Of course I believe in the church's guarantee, and I ask her to do as she pleases."
The elf nodded to Lania, as if to express his gratitude, then he opened the door and disappeared in a flash.
In a small meeting room on the other side, Reinhardt signed his name on the mission contract and breathed a sigh of relief.
There were only two main clauses in the contract, but the numerous additional clauses and explanations of the clauses gave him a headache.
"it is finally over."
He and the old butler walked to the door of the conference room and opened it.
Then he saw the silver-haired girl standing outside the door.
"I have something to talk to this gentleman. Could you please step aside for a moment?"
The girl looked at the old butler. She behaved very politely, but the faint pressure emanating from her made her words not so easy to disobey.
The old butler looked at the girl, then at Reinhardt. The pressure made it difficult for him to directly refuse the girl's request, but he still stood firmly in front of Reinhardt.
"Let's go somewhere else if you want to talk."
Reinhardt stood out from behind the butler and walked to the end of the corridor. The silver-haired girl glanced at the old butler with a hint of admiration in her eyes, and then followed Reinhardt.
"I just have one question."
The two soon arrived at the courtyard of the mansion. The silver-haired girl spoke.
"I smell an old friend on you. Have you ever encountered a, um... should be a black dragon now."
