Chapter 25 Invisible Hand
"Your Highness, Deputy Captain Brian has arrived."

The old butler pushed open the door of the study. Lanya was leaning against the back of the chair in the study and had fallen asleep at some point.

After all, she had been through a lot these days, and she must be really tired. Especially today, she also received people from the Church of the Sun God.

Dealing with those people from the church is no easier than clearing out a monster nest.

"Forget it, let Vice Captain Brian come back tomorrow."

The housekeeper thought so and was about to close the door.

"What's wrong, Celine?"

The sound of the door hinges rubbing woke Lanya up. She opened her eyes with difficulty and looked at the old butler at the door.

The old butler hesitated for a moment. Lannia looked very tired and did not seem suitable for the meeting now. The old butler wanted to persuade him to rest, but in the end, he still spoke.

"Deputy Captain Brian is here."

After saying that, Lannia winked at the old butler beside her, and the old butler walked forward and helped the middle-aged man up.

"The Shadow Crow branch in Sage City has lost contact. The last message we received was that they were attacked by an unknown strongman."

"What the Grand Commander means is that, whether you accept it or not, the Mercenary Group will no longer accept missions from other candidates for the succession. We will stand behind you."

"Your Excellency, Deputy Head, you are not my subordinate. There is no need to perform such a ceremony."

Lanya struggled to stand up and reached out to tidy up her messy hair. A few minutes later, she turned back into the expressionless girl who couldn't tell what she was thinking.

The middle-aged man stood up.

Lanya looked at the middle-aged man, still expressionless, and just leaned back slightly on the chair.

The old butler sighed, said nothing more, bowed slightly, closed the door and left.

"Oh, let him in."

Not long after, a middle-aged man in a hooded cloak walked in with the old butler.

"Whatever the reason, the Grand Master believes that this has crossed the red line."

"Mr. Deputy Head, please speak frankly."

The big hand behind her pushed her forward another step.

"What's wrong, Celine?"

She roughly knew the purpose of Deputy Captain Brian's visit. For others, this might be a good thing, but she could only feel powerless and tired.

The middle-aged man took off his hood and half-knelt on the ground.

Lanya asked when she saw the old butler still standing at the door.

"Your Highness."

The Shadow Crow Mercenary Group in Sagat City was not very powerful. That place belonged to the edge of the kingdom and there were no powerful monsters. There was only a squadron of 100 recruits deployed there to manage its industries, carry out some simple tasks and train new recruits.

"Just speak your mind, don't worry about anything."

She felt a huge hand slowly pushing her into the abyss.

"The Grand Master believes that this is the only correct way."

Lanya looked at the desk in front of her, unable to see the expression on her face, not knowing what she was thinking.

"Okay, tell the Grand Commander that I understand what he means. I will give you tasks after a while."

Lanya felt very tired, and she decided not to fight against the big hand behind her.

The deputy leader on the opposite side showed a happy expression on his face.

They had extended olive branches to Lanya countless times, but Lanya had rejected them every time.

"I will convey your answer to the Grand Master."

Lanya turned her gaze to the old butler.

"Sailin, show the guest out."

The old butler turned to the man beside him.

"Deputy Captain Brian, please come this way." The study door closed with a click, and the footsteps of the two people in the corridor gradually faded away and disappeared after a while.

Only Lania was left in the study, and the moonlight streaming in through the window behind them.

Lanya turned her chair around, leaned back, and stared blankly at the moon outside the window.

"Your Highness, it's time for you to rest."

The door behind him opened again and the old butler walked in.

"Cellin, do you think I really did something wrong before?"

The old butler opened his mouth, but in the end said nothing.

"I never wanted to get involved in their struggles. I just wanted to do something beneficial for the people of the kingdom within my ability."

Lanya had her back to the old butler, so her expression could not be seen, but her voice still sounded calm.

The study fell into silence. After a long while, the old butler finally spoke.

"Your Highness, sometimes, just doing the right thing does not necessarily bring good results."

The study returned to silence, and after a long time, Lanya's voice sounded again.

"My father will definitely reject the church's request for intervention. That cowardly guy will refuse any changes and shrink into his shell, imagining that nothing will change in the outside world."

Lanya still had her back to the old butler.

"Cellin, what do you think they're going to do?"

The old butler stood there quietly. He never participated in such topics.

"Once the people of the Sun God Cult are determined on something, they will not let it go. They will only find other ways to intervene, such as coming to me to borrow a piece of clothing from the Shadow Crow Mercenary Group."

The old butler lowered his head slightly, still saying nothing.

“Then it will become a symbol of my entry, and those forces that have already lined up will see me as an enemy.”

Lanya turned her chair and looked directly at the old butler.

Her face was still expressionless and it was impossible to tell what she was thinking. The moonlight behind her fell on her, casting a long shadow in the study.

"But in reality, they have been my enemies from the beginning, haven't they?"

It seemed like an illusion, but the old butler felt a hint of smile on Lanya's expressionless face. He had never felt this feeling from Lanya since she lost her mother.

"You go back and rest first, let me be quiet here."

Lanya waved her hand, and the old butler bowed slightly, left the room and closed the door.

The study fell silent again, leaving only Lanya and the moonlight shining on her.

Under the moonlight, a silver dragon was flying in the sky.

She could sense Fari's dragon power more and more clearly, which meant that she was approaching Fari's location quickly.

But the closer she got to Fari, the slower she flew.

"How should I start a meeting?"

Savrina felt a little nervous, after all, the scene when they separated last time was not very nice.

"How should I start a meeting?"

Farui also had the same problem in his heart. After all, what he did when they separated last time was indeed a bit... excessive.

But the distance between the two began to close rapidly.

It wasn't long before Safrina appeared above Farri's head.

The two dragons just looked at each other awkwardly. If it weren't for Savrina's wings still flapping, both of them would have the illusion that the scene in front of them was a still picture.

"Well, I have something I want to ask you for help with."

The two dragons spoke at the same time and said the same thing.
