Chapter 45 Survivors

"Why are these undeads everywhere?"

Reinhardt pulled a bottle from his belt.

It contained holy water, which was different from the previous one. This time, the holy water was directly provided by the Sun God Cult. It was a good thing with extremely high purity. Even for the second and third level undead creatures, it could cause extremely effective damage.

The glass bottle smashed into the pursuing group of undead, and the holy water inside spilled out from the broken glass bottle and landed on the undead.

When the holy water came into contact with the undead, it exploded like hot oil meeting water.

The undead, who should have lost their sense of pain, fell to the ground and rolled over, seemingly in great pain.

The remaining fragments of their souls, bound to their dead bodies by necromancy, were being burned by the holy water.

After a long while, the energy contained in the holy water was completely consumed, and many undead creatures completely stopped moving. Only four or five undead creatures above the second level slowly stood up.

But even they are not in good condition. The cold aura on their bodies has dissipated a lot, and it will take a few days to recover their original strength.

Necromancer is unlikely to be effective on a corpse that has been contaminated by holy water. Although fire can achieve a similar effect, it will make a lot of noise.

There were not many bodies inside, not filling the entire caravan. Reinhardt took out a bottle of holy water from his backpack and prepared to sprinkle it on the bodies.

The most serious wound on her body was on her waist, a penetrating wound from behind. It was a common problem among novice adventurers, who focused all their attention on the enemy in front of them and neglected to observe the surrounding environment.

Holding his breath and quietly waiting for the undead below to go away, Reinhardt landed on the ground again and carefully moved towards the direction of Fari's nest.

The survivor was wearing a loose mage robe that didn't fit her well. Her face was covered in blood and her appearance couldn't be seen clearly. One could only barely tell that she was a woman.

Reinhardt pulled out the cork and sprinkled the holy water on the bodies in the caravan. Then he heard a slight groan.

Reinhardt hid in the treetops, watching another group of undead passing by below.

“May your souls find peace.”

Reinhardt jumped onto the wagon, and after pulling apart the two bodies, he saw the survivor.

There were no more undead at this pass, and the only thing left was the caravan.

These departing undead were originally guarding a pass, and if Reinhardt had taken a detour, it would have taken him half a day longer. But now, he only needed to get rid of the few undead that stayed here and guarded the caravan, and he could save half a day.

But Reinhardt had already taken the opportunity to leave.

The Cult of the Sun was very generous. This time, Reinhardt had no shortage of holy water, holy oil and other consumables to deal with the undead.

The sounds of fighting in the distance became more intense. It seemed that the adventurers had been forced to reveal their true colors and were fighting for their lives with the undead reinforcements.

This round of hunting by the Undead seemed to be coming to an end. A large number of Undead left their ambush positions and took the initiative to attack the remaining adventurers.

Not far in front of Reinhardt, a group of undead were running towards the distance under the leadership of their commander. Faint sounds of fighting could be heard from there, and it seemed that some adventurers had broken through the encirclement of the undead.

Reinhardt on this side had just chopped off the head of the last zombie in front of him.

"Are there any survivors?"

His previous movements had attracted the attention of the Undead commanders nearby, and some Undead troops were on the move, looking for his whereabouts.

Reinhardt took out a bottle of healing potion, poured it into the survivor's mouth, and then carried her on his back.

Such a seriously injured person is not suitable for such rough movement, as it will tear the wound and accelerate blood loss. Reinhardt is not unaware of this.

But there was no way. The sounds of fighting in the distance had subsided. It sounded like the undead had won. It wouldn't be long before they would return here.

"Don't die." Reinhardt could only pray for the survivor on his back and took a step forward to find a hiding place.

"My lord, this is a report."

The pale-faced officer handed over a report. He was wrapped up tightly, just like the officers who commanded the undead to attack the adventurers.

"Four hundred and twenty-seven bodies of adventurers below level four, fifty-two bodies of adventurers above level five, and the highest number is two bodies of adventurers at level seven. There are still a few adventurers on the run, and we are hunting them down."

The report contains their gains over the past few days.

"What about the assessment at the Great Cemetery?"

"The detailed evaluation report has not come out yet, but the situation seems very optimistic. Combined with the materials prepared earlier, if we are willing to trade quantity for quality, we may even have a chance to create a monster of level eight or above."

The Jazz was very satisfied with this and nodded slightly.

The Sun God Cult's recent movements have been getting louder and louder, with more and more priests and paladins appearing in the southeast of Sagat City.

The area had been cleared of undead creatures, and they had begun trying to move further.

At this time, every bit of combat effectiveness improvement is crucial for the Jazz.

"As for the two adventurer teams consisting of strong men above level eight..."

Two teams of adventurers at level eight or nine also took on the task of rescuing the princess. Under the knight's orders, the undead creatures did not provoke these two teams.

"The Adventurer's Association has recently updated the progress of their missions. They seem to have made some new discoveries."

There are two more updates in the Adventurer's Guild's mission progress.

"From the traces of the dragon's breath left behind, that dragon is at least not yet a fully grown young dragon. I estimate its strength to be no more than level nine."

"The dragon's breath destroyed a large number of undead, but the traces of the subsequent battle seemed to indicate that humans were besieging it."

The second update has already pointed to something. If we investigate further, we may find evidence of collusion between Sagat City and the Undead.

Under the contract of the Adventurer's Association, adventurers' mission progress reports will not lie. This is almost the most authoritative certification on this continent, and there is little room for rebuttal or explanation.

Jazz stood up.

"grown ups?"

“We need to get them out.”

Once they learn that the official level of Sagat City is colluding with the Undead, those members of the Sun God Cult who are still blocked by the militia around the town of Ilek will no longer be quiet.

The only reason why the militia can stop the Cult of the Sun God now is that they are all mortals who have nothing to do with the undead.

The clergy of the Sun God Cult will not use force against mortals unless the other party colludes with evil forces or actively attacks church members.

"The divine sun loves the world, and you should also love the world."

This is what the scriptures teach them.

However, once there is actual evidence that the Sagat city officials are colluding with the undead, these militias will instantly become enemies "colluding with evil forces" in their eyes.

With the strength of those Sun God priests, it only takes one attack and the so-called defense line of the militia will collapse.

"Prepare my weapons. Tonight, I will personally make them disappear."
