Chapter 56 Inevitable
"Okay, this will do for now."

The chief priest wiped the sweat from his forehead and looked at Savrina with some fatigue.

"I strengthened the seal so it can remain stable for a while."

Not long ago, a priest came to inform the dean of what happened in the square outside the church and the news that Count Lannick was a vampire.

The highest echelons of the kingdom might have been controlled by vampires, so the high priest had to go to the palace in person to confirm it.

The hilt of the Death Knight's sword was still stirring, struggling to break free from the seal.

In order to go to the palace, the high priest had to spend most of his energy to temporarily strengthen the seal on the hilt.

"The reinforced seal can probably hold out for five or six hours. I'll leave this to you until I come back."

The high priest who reinforced the seal sat on the ground and took a short rest. After recovering some strength, he stood up and walked out of the basement of the church.

In the basement, only Safrina was left.

The sacred aura emanating from the church burned Shadow and weakened the strength in his body.

"Let's get right to the point."

He didn't have time to think about it. He stuck to the outer wall of the church, turning himself almost into a flat shadow, and entered the church through the gap in the window.

The high priest didn't know that a rat had sneaked into the church. He was in the hall of the palace. As soon as he walked in, he saw a farce going on inside.

Then he was ejected by the shadow of the church.

"Okay, let him be quiet."

The king spoke. He knew the nature of the Sun God Cult and thought that speaking in this way would be the least likely to cause resistance from the Sun God Cult.

The other nobles stood quietly by, their eyes wandering between the king and the chief priest.

It sank back into the shadows and began to slowly approach the church next to the square with the help of the shadows of the surrounding buildings.

The bloodstains on the square had not yet dried, and the clergy were busy treating the poor people who were injured in the conflict.

It can only reveal its shape.

At his command, the guard's knife struck Earl Fleming on the back of his neck, causing him to faint quietly.

Outside the church square, in a shadow, "Shadow" quietly watched the chief priest, an assistant priest and several priests hurriedly leave.

"The opportunity came."

Every church is protected by gods, and the "shadow" cannot continue to sneak in through these shadows.

Just like that, no one noticed the "shadow" and he just touched the edge of the church.

Seeing the impatience beginning to show on the chief priest's face, the king knew that the farce was about to end.

"Did you ever send anyone to look for trouble? None of you guys..."

"it hurts."

Fleming was still yelling and cursing until a guard nearby punched him in the stomach, turning his yelling into weak retching.

The soldiers who were on duty near the square were nowhere to be seen. They did not dare to show up now and provoke the already angry clergy of the Sun God Cult.

"The culprit of the incident in the square was Fleming. Now that he is no longer a count, the Cult can take him away and deal with him as they please."

The officiating priest glanced at Fleming, who was lying on the ground like a dead pig, and did not move.

"You know, if it's just this matter, there's no need for me to come here in person."

The king knew that now was the real point.

"We just learned about Count Lannick's affairs."

The king observed the chief priest's expression and carefully considered his words. "The kingdom will not protect these evil creatures. The Sun God Cult can mobilize personnel at will to go to Sagat City to eliminate these evil creatures. The kingdom will not ask or interfere with any of the Sun God Cult's subsequent actions in Sagat City."

The chief priest looked at the king. This was probably the most sincere proposal he could come up with. In a sense, he was handing over the city of Sagete to the Sun God Cult.

Those great nobles would certainly not be willing to give up even a little bit of the interests that originally belonged to them. Beside the king, the tenth-level warrior wearing armor and weapons had obviously been prepared for the conflict.

The people of the Sun God Cult are honest but not stupid. From the various situations at the scene, it can be analyzed that someone wants to use this to cause a conflict between the church and the king's faction.

The high priest even suspected that Lannick had revealed his identity on his own initiative. The timing was too coincidental, and it was hard not to suspect that he had done it intentionally to provoke a conflict between the church and the kingdom.

Unless necessary, the church is unwilling to have a direct conflict with the king and the nobles behind him, which will only slow down their fight against the evil undead.

"My colleagues on the border of the kingdom..."

If the officiant was willing to spend ten hours negotiating and exerting pressure, he could probably gain more benefits for the church, but he didn't have that time.

The seal couldn't last that long, and he needed to return to the church as soon as possible to continue suppressing the hilt of the sword. So he only made a small request.

The high priest has been staying at the border of the kingdom for several days, and the kingdom has been using inefficient administrative speed to delay time.

"I have sent people to the border, and the guards there will let us go soon."

The high priest nodded. These were probably all he could achieve on this trip. He took one last glance at the nobles in the hall and prepared to leave.

However, he saw Viscount Felin in the crowd.

"Detect evil."

Black and purple light appeared where the magic fell. None of these nobles were good people. But this was not enough for the chief priest to take action.

Among those black and purple lights, a scarlet light was particularly conspicuous.

A divine light appeared and smashed into the scarlet light, and the tenth-level warrior beside the king also moved.

Viscount Felin didn't even have time to put up any resistance before he was hit by the divine spell, and the long sword that followed cut off his head.

Outside the door, the chief priest and his attendants brought in the body of Viscount Carter.

"Your Majesty, how do you want to explain?"

If the fact that Lannick is a vampire can be explained as the undead deliberately doing this in order to provoke conflict between the kingdom and the church.

Then the appearance of vampire descendants in the court is not a problem that can be simply explained.

"Blockade the entire kingdom and notify the church to send someone over."

After giving the order, the chief priest turned his attention back to the king.

"Your Majesty, this has seriously crossed the line. We are going to thoroughly inspect the entire palace, as well as the family residences of everyone present. No one can leave until this is over."

The nobles below started to make a commotion. They had never been treated like this before, and some of them wanted to leave the hall on the spot.

Then, they became corpses.

The king and the tenth-level warrior beside him looked at each other. With the fighting power of the palace gathered, it was not difficult to defeat the high priest and the people he brought with him.

But in the eyes of the Sun God Cult, this is tantamount to the king standing on the side of the undead, and the kingdom will face a holy war next.

The king shook his head and signaled the tenth-level warrior to put down his weapon.

The clergy who hastily gathered, left the church, and rushed to the mansions of various nobles did not notice that the shadow in the corner of the wall seemed not so natural.

Shadow watched the priests leave.

"I feel it. The hilt is right here."
