Chapter 96 New Contract

"woke up?"

When Reinhardt woke up, he saw a dragon lying at the entrance of the cave.

"woke up."

A bonfire was crackling nearby, silently emitting light and heat in this small cave.

"This is the third time. The contract between us is now complete."

Reinhardt glanced around. Ella was still unconscious, but the bleeding had stopped. She only needed to rest for a while before she could slowly recover. Krigor recovered better because of his dragon blood, but he was not able to stand up and walk around.

The bonfire was still crackling and burning. It seemed that this was the bonfire that Fari had lit for them.

"Thank you."

Reinhardt said that according to the contract, Fary's only obligation was to fight the enemy, and after the vampire turned and ran away, the contract was fulfilled.

"A thank you is not enough."

Fary turned his head and looked at Reinhardt with dim yellow eyes. But Reinhardt's eyes were fixed on another place. He looked at the scales on the side of Fary's face, which exuded a metallic luster.

Fary in front of him seemed to have not noticed the changes in his scales.

"Okay, how much are you charging this time?"

Reinhardt is now considered a wealthy man. Whether it is the rewards from Lannia and the Cult of the Sun, or the rewards forced upon him by the border nobles after he recently helped them deal with the undead, the total amount is quite a lot.

The new staff in Ella's hand was the reward from the border nobles. They didn't have much gold coins, but after years of conflict, they had seized a lot of magical items.

Reinhardt was somewhat confident in his ability to pay.

"How much do you think you and your teammates are worth?"

Reinhardt thought for a while. In his mind, he could roughly estimate the price of his own life, but the value of his teammates was higher in his heart.

"If it's hard to estimate, that's no problem. I can give you a plan that doesn't cost you anything."

A contract appeared in Reinhardt's hand.

"A mutual assistance agreement defines the scope of mutual assistance based on our current strength."

Reinhardt looked at the contract in his hand.

This contract seems to be much fairer than the last one. It is basically similar to the offensive and defensive alliance. Fari will provide help when Reinhardt needs it, but in return, Reinhardt also needs to respond to Fari's call and complete his task.

Of course, there are still many additional clauses. Both parties can refuse tasks that are seriously inconsistent with their own strength, and can refuse tasks that seriously damage their own interests...

Reinhardt had been following Lania recently and had learned a lot. He discovered some small traps set by Farri in this contract.

"There should be some difference in the calculation of tasks of different difficulty levels... The time taken for the task should be considered... Also,"

Reinhardt is still weak, but the battle just now has allowed him to successfully advance to level eight. Now he is qualified to negotiate with Fari.

"It's really troublesome. It's not that easy to fool."

Fari grumbled in his heart, but Reinhardt was indeed useful to him. During the time he was back to Dragon Island, he needed someone who could help him run errands on the mainland.

Three hours later, the man and the dragon finally finalized the details of the entire contract.

"Is it okay?"

Farui was a little tired, even more tired than when he drove away the vampire before.

"It should be fine." Reinhardt checked the agreement in his hand again and signed his name.

Ferry breathed a sigh of relief.

Reinhardt still lacked experience, although he followed Lania's example and understood some common small traps in contract agreements.

But Lania's contracts were usually quite formal, and the traps were hidden in the long clauses that made one's head spin three times when reading them. This prevented Reinhardt from noticing an obvious trap.

That was the term of the contract. Reinhardt did not notice that the contract in his hand did not mention the duration of the contract.

Generally speaking, this means that the contract will last until one party's soul is completely destroyed.

Fary also signed his name on the contract.

Now, as long as Ferry puts in a little effort occasionally, he can make Reinhardt stand on his side most of the time.

Reinhardt has been accumulating more and more fame in the kingdom. Although most of his deeds are not enough to become legends, even by human standards, he is still young and has plenty of time. Once he becomes famous enough, those deeds will gradually become legends.

After all, if a person is famous enough, his past, even if it is just something like chopping down the cherry tree in front of his house with a knife, will become a meaningful legend out of thin air in the mouths of people.

If he continues to develop at his current pace, he will at least become a quasi-legend.

"Then the contract is established."

It was another soul contract. Besides the innate abilities of this body, it was one of the few new things that Fary had learned from his mother. Only this kind of contract could make Fary feel at ease.

Until now, he still doesn't know who is behind Reinhardt.

That long sword was a very strange one even among soul weapons. General soul weapons had more or less other attributes, such as bound spells, or allowing the owner to be more powerful when casting certain combat skills and spells.

But this sword is different. It doesn't seem to have any special features. Apart from being sharp and durable, it seems to be no different from an ordinary fine steel sword. But it can possess Reinhardt and exert a power that exceeds Reinhardt's own limit to a certain extent.

"Speaking of which, how did you get that sword?"

Fari mentioned the sword seemingly casually.

"Ah, it..."

Reinhardt sighed and fell into memories. He had nothing to hide about the origin of the sword.

"This is what the village chief gave me when I left the village and started my adventure."

"what?"

Fari was stunned for a moment. This was different from what he thought.

"'This is the best sword in our village,' the village chief told me at the time."

Even those so-called "gods" would not hand over soul weapons to their chosen ones so casually. They would show off their power in front of others to at least let their chosen ones know who the god who gave them the weapon was.

"The best sword in the village..."

Fari was stunned. This title for the sword was like a title called "Task Master" hanging above the head of an adventurer who completed countless tasks and finally saved the world.

It’s not wrong, it just doesn’t fit.

"When it started talking, the village chief seemed to be shocked as well."

Fary listened to Reinhardt's story. The history of that sword was longer than that village. Reinhardt was probably not the chosen one of some so-called gods, nor could he be the follower of some powerful man. It seemed that there was really no big man behind him.

It seems so.
