Hong Kong: Starting with 10 billion

Chapter 19: Prison version of "Caste System"

Chapter 19: Prison version of "Caste System" (Please collect, recommend and vote)
If colonial rule is compared to grazing, the colonies are pastures.

The city of Hong Kong is a natural pasture with abundant grass and water.

The Angsa people are herders with blond hair, blue eyes, high noses and deep eyes.

The local Chinese are naturally like a flock of sheep that can never be sheared every year.

Shepherds need sheepdogs for herding.

In Hong Kong, the people who play the role of sheepdogs may be Indians, Pakistanis, and Nepalese.
Even Sri Lankans.

This may hurt national sentiments.
But in the real world, this couldn't be more real.

If nothing else, at least in Hong Kong prisons,

This is a standard set of real rules for dividing and exercising power based on status levels.

Take Stanley Prison as an example.
The senior warden and the warden, both the top two leaders, are British.
He is high and mighty and basically doesn't care about the details of daily affairs.

There are three third-level chief supervisors, one of whom is from the UK.

There are relatively more senior supervisors at the fourth level.

There are twelve people, including two British, one Australian, and one Canadian.
There was also an Indian Acha.

Basically, mid- and senior-level prison guard positions,
The British will occupy one-third of the positions.

This is also the result of the British compromise and concession after experiencing many social and political movements in Hong Kong.

More than twenty years ago,
The British must take at least half of the places.

It seems that although the British and their loyal dogs only account for 30%,
But in fact, they firmly control the core of power.

In short, even if there are seven levels of Chinese management,
But we have to listen to the British.

This is true for prison management, and even more so for the prisoners being managed.

There are approximately 400 foreign prisoners in Stanley Prison.

According to nationality, there are criminals from many countries including British, American, Australian, New Zealand, Indian, Pakistani, Nepalese, Sri Lankan, Bangladeshi, Thai, Burmese, Filipino, Japanese, and Korean.

Their status ranking in Stanley is European and American whites (including New Zealanders and Australians), South Asians, Southeast Asians, and Japanese and Koreans.

The Chinese make up the largest number of people.

At the end of the list, they are the lowest-ranking group in Stanley Prison.

This difference in status is reflected in many aspects such as daily necessities, food, leisure and entertainment, workmanship, feedback, etc.

In terms of daily necessities.

For example, foreign prisoners have more utensils than Chinese prisoners, such as razors, mirrors, soap, socks, leather shoes, etc.

For example, the cut and fabric quality of prison uniforms and beddings worn by foreign prisoners are much better than those worn by Chinese prisoners.

Moreover, they can go to the laundry room to change their clothes at any time, while Chinese people can only change and wash them regularly.

In terms of food, the food expenses for foreign prisoners are twice that of Chinese prisoners.

The meals for foreign prisoners can be divided into three categories:

Western food (adapted to the tastes of prisoners from Europe, America, New Zealand and Australia);

Luodi meal (adapted to the tastes of prisoners from Thailand, the Philippines, Myanmar, Nepal, etc.);

Curry meal (adapted to the tastes of prisoners from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, etc.)

The ingredients and portion sizes are not comparable to Chinese food.

In addition to the fact that the quality of raw materials such as fish, meat and vegetables is better than that of Chinese people,
The supply was also sufficient to ensure that foreign prisoners were well fed.

Other than that,

White people in Europe, America, New Zealand and Australia are also provided with cheese, butter, coffee, milk tea, fruit, boiled eggs or soft-fried eggs.

What's funny is that

Many South Asian and Southeast Asians who illegally entered Hong Kong lamented,
Before they were imprisoned, they were unemployed vagrants.

Not only is the food bad, but we often have no food to eat.

But when we got to Stanley,
They found that the food in prison was richer than what they ate outside.

Leisure and entertainment.

Foreign prisoners have half an hour more time to exercise than Chinese prisoners from Monday to Friday.

On Saturdays and Sundays, Chinese prisoners can only stay in the cells, but they can go out of the cells for two hours.

Foreign prisoners are provided with free newspapers and magazines.
But the Chinese can only pay someone to bring them in from outside the prison.

Whether the workmanship is good.

Chinese prisoners had to work at least seven hours a day in various workshops from Monday to Friday.

There is also a half-day of work on Saturday morning.

The treatment of foreign prisoners is completely different.

Non-whites include foreign prisoners from South Asia, Southeast Asia, Japan and South Korea.

After they entered the workshop, they basically did not do anything.

Just standing there doing nothing,

The supervising prison guard also pretended not to see anything.

What's worse, British, American, New Zealand and Australian prisoners,
Not only do they not work,
They would also lazily bask in the sun in the workshop.

While leisurely reading newspapers and magazines.

Looking at the Chinese prisoners who were mostly running around and busy with their work,

They will also show a full sense of "superiority".

Feedback.

Chinese prisoners’ dissatisfaction and protests,

In the eyes of Stanley Prison management, it has never been taken seriously.

In order to improve the food standards in Stanley Prison,
The boss of a certain society mobilized all his members.
They held a sit-in protest in their respective cells and refused to leave the cell to eat in the cafeteria.

In the beginning,
The chief supervisor and senior supervisors, the middle and senior management of the prison, came together to persuade the president and representatives of the association.

The boss refused and only stated that he wanted the warden to negotiate.

And they promised to improve the food before they ended the protest.

In order to reduce the impact, the British prison warden
Personally negotiate with the association's boss and representatives,

And he agreed immediately.

But what's the final result?
The Chinese prisoners only had good food for three days.

The meals after that remained the same.

As for foreign prisoners, especially white prisoners,

Since they can file complaints to the British senior prison warden in English at any time,
You can even talk directly to the Justice of the Peace who patrols the prison and file a complaint.

Therefore, all levels of prison units must carefully serve these masters.
Afraid of neglecting them.

Some white European and American prisoners complained that the cells were uncomfortable.

They even pretend to be sick and apply for hospitalization.

Such requests are usually granted.

Fang Hexuan has been imprisoned in Stanley for half a month.
In the first few days after arriving, I was very surprised by this obvious discrimination.
But the prisoners, who were surrounded by Chinese people, felt basically nothing.

The Hong Kong government regularly sends Justices of the Peace to inspect prisons.
These celebrities would routinely pretend to be "vindicating justice for the prisoners" in front of them.

But almost no Chinese prisoners believed it.

Therefore, the discriminatory environment inside prisons will exist all year round.

Foreign prisoners look down on Chinese prisoners.
Foreign prison guards will only become more aggressive.

The Indian Acha senior supervisor mentioned above, nicknamed "King of Killing",
The Chinese prisoners were not just discriminated against.
Instead, the hatred has intensified.

He beat up Chinese prisoners many times.
Even if the prisoners' communities unite to protest and appeal,
He still has the British superiors to protect him.

It can be said that he was able to walk around Stanley Prison without anyone daring to stop him.
