Chapter 36: Found the Black Book of the Dead First

Chapter 36: Found the Black Book of the Dead First

All the way to Hamunaptra, Lin You hoped that the big world could locate his position in time and space and quickly pull him out of this muddy water.

Unfortunately, his wish was not fulfilled until the group arrived at the gate of Hamunaptra. Instead of waiting for the God of the Big World and the god Amun, only Benny and the American archaeological team arrived.

These two groups of people, one group lost their horses and had to purchase supplies again, and the other group landed on the wrong shore and had to take a long detour; after deducting the two, they actually met again at the entrance of their destination at the same time.

It is really like "meeting an old friend - a creditor - in a foreign land".

In front of so many people, O'Connor couldn't do anything and could only watch Benny show off in front of him.

Not long after, a wonderful scene appeared before everyone's eyes.

At the turn of day and night, between light and darkness, the ruins of a magnificent ancient city emerged out of thin air, as if someone had pulled back the curtain of darkness, allowing this ancient city to be "projected" onto the world with light and shadow.

This scene is even more shocking than what I saw on the computer screen.

Both the Americans and Evelyn and her group were excited by the wonder before them, and they all shouted and galloped towards the ancient city.

Lin You followed lazily behind, swaying with the camel's steps.

All he wanted was the Black Book of the Dead and the Golden Book of the Sun, but the problem was that the specific burial locations of the two books were only briefly mentioned in the movie, and he couldn't remember them at all; now he could only follow the main plot, and there was no point in being anxious.

After the two groups set up their camps and the hired workers spent a day clearing the roads in and out of the city, Evelyn prepared to follow O'Connor into the depths of the ancient city.

Before leaving, she pulled Lin You over and told him, "You stay in the camp and don't go anywhere. Wait for us to come out. Remember?"

Lin You nodded his head like a chick pecking at rice in front of them, then turned around and smiled, "Hehe", and secretly followed the American team without telling anyone.

The two families had agreed to fight on their own and not interfere with each other; who could find what treasure depended on their own ability. They also chose different passages to enter the city.

It has been so long since I watched the first Mummy that many of the story lines have become blurred in my memory and I can only remember a few classic plots.

For example, when O'Connor and Evelyn first met in prison, there was that gangster-like kiss of love; of course, it was ruined by Lin You.

The second shot is the spectacular scene where Hamunaptrah appears from the interweaving of light and shadow, which was a victory of the Hollywood film industry at that time.

Then comes the third shot, where the heroine Evelyn accidentally recites a spell, awakening the three thousand year old immortal villain Imhotep.

On one side was the beautiful heroine and her ethereal voice of incantations, and on the other side was a hideous and grotesque dried corpse that had been completely eaten by scarabs. The interlaced montage shot made Lin You's scalp tingle and left a deep impression.

It was because of the deep impression that Lin You remembered that Evelyn had stolen the Black Book of the Dead from the Americans before she chanted the spell. In other words, the book was first discovered by the Americans.

Therefore, following the Americans is the best approach now.

As for "Golden Sutra of the Sun", it seems to have appeared in the later part of the movie, when the final battle is about to begin; we can put it aside for now.

Deep underground in the ancient city, the pitch-black environment and the smell of decay accumulated over thousands of years make people feel uneasy; as if something in the darkness will jump out at any time. The deeper you go, the stronger this feeling becomes.

All the darkness of Hamunaptrah was now materialized, weighing heavily on everyone's mind. To relieve their fear, the Americans began to speak to each other, using their voices to combat the deathly silence around them.

It just so happened that this method made it easier for Lin You to hide his tracks. The Disillusionment Spell concealed his figure, and the American's voice covered up the footsteps that might have been exposed. In the altar of the temple in the center of the city, which was also the operating room where the ancient Egyptians made mummies, the Americans used several Egyptian workers as cannon fodder to die, and were able to open the secret room and find the jars containing Imhotep's internal organs, as well as the book box containing the Black Book of the Dead.

The only professor in the American team who truly understood ancient Egyptian culture - and also the leader of the team - checked the seal on the book box by the firelight, and found that it was an almost routine warning text of the ancient Egyptians.

Things like "Anyone who opens this seal will meet with misfortune" were not only not believed by the Americans, but Lin You also disagreed.

So, when the Americans were talking around the book box, Lin You waved his magic wand behind him and said, "He fell to the ground."

Several Muggles fell to the ground, but the professor was the only one who was not hit. However, he was also frightened and collapsed to the ground.

Lin You walked forward slowly, but heard the professor repeating something like "God bless" over and over again. He must be confused, because even if there was bad luck, the book box hadn't been opened yet, right?

"Don't be nervous, Professor." Lin You lifted the effect of the Disillusionment Spell and revealed his true form. "I just want to get this book and ask you for some knowledge about ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics. As long as you cooperate, there will be no danger - at least I won't cause any danger to you."

In the dim firelight, the professor recognized Lin You's identity.

"It's you? You're the kid the British brought here." Seeing that it was just a child, the professor suddenly became bolder. "Why are you here? What happened just now?"

Lin You pointed his magic wand and "the force loosened and the energy dissipated."

The professor sat back down again.

"Professor, there are conditions for ensuring your own safety. Now just sit still and wait for me to ask you questions before you speak." The tip of the staff in Lin You's hand almost touched the other person's nose; even if one did not know the power of magic, the sharp spikes were enough to scare people.

Not to mention that he was inexplicably weak-handed. The bizarre experience made the professor quickly face the reality and he nodded very obediently.

"Very good." Lin You praised with satisfaction, turned around and opened the book box of "Black Book of the Dead".

The book has remained intact for three thousand years, so it could not have been made of papyrus or parchment, which was common among the ancient Egyptians.

The more unrecognizable the material, the happier Lin You was, because it showed that the existence of the Black Book of the Dead was extraordinary. When he mobilized the few small cosmic powers in his body and released them, as soon as they came into contact with the book, he immediately sensed a slight energy vibration.

Although the power attributes contained in the Black Book of the Dead are still unclear, the existence of a special energy reaction alone is enough to make Lin You happy.

The boy opened the first page of the book and turned to the professor and said, "Now, please tell me, Professor, how to pronounce the prayers of the ancient priests to Anubis in the ancient Egyptian language?"

While waiting for an answer, Lin You waved the wand in his hand silently, looking directly into the other person's eyes.

"Legilimency."

 Second update
In addition, this book has been recommended in the first round, and the reader traffic should increase. As everyone knows, although the vast majority of book lovers are tolerant and peaceful true book lovers, there are always a very small number of low-quality or even deliberately destructive trolls who are annoying everywhere. So I set a threshold for readers to speak out.

Although doing so will certainly affect some readers' enthusiasm for commenting, the objective environment is such that we can only ask book lovers to understand.
