Falsifying history is good business

Chapter 483: The Unyielding Brown Robe Wizard

Before entering the world of the Lord of the Rings, Lin You had imagined how and what the struggle with Sauron would be like. He had imagined an unfriendly negotiation, where the negotiating opponent, who had the upper hand, would raise the price; he had also imagined that the opponent would use force to intimidate him, using his dark forces to launch a massive siege; or perhaps he would use various evil conspiracies to consume his strength, and then wait for an opportunity to act.

The author's best scenario is that Sauron will come out in person to fight with him to decide the outcome, and the worst scenario is that the other party has no intention of invading the witcher world, but is just deliberately leading him across the border into "Arda" - the name of the planet where the Lord of the Rings story takes place.

But no matter which scenario it is, there is no scene where Sauron "turns in" without saying a word or showing his face.

Lin You couldn't even tell whether Sauron's reaction was good or bad.

The writer could only turn to the brown-robed wizard for advice: "Mr. Radagast, with your many years of experience fighting the dark enemy, when the dark enemy flees, what should you do next?"

Radagast took a long time to recover from his daze, and asked in a daze, "What should I do? The enemy was defeated and escaped, isn't that a good thing? Why do you look so disappointed?"

"So I was too harsh, right? As far as I know, Lord Sauron is a veteran demon who experienced the wars of the gods in the previous two eras. Although he was still a younger brother and did not set up his own sect, he must have witnessed many big scenes."

Sauron's unexpected "strategic shift" was so beyond imagination that Lin You couldn't help but want to complain.

According to the world view of The Lord of the Rings, the existence of the world of Arda was originally similar to the ancient Chinese concept of "round sky and square earth"; as a result, because the war between the Valar and Morgoth was too brutal, the Creator God had to change the world from "round sky and square earth" to "round planet" when cleaning up the mess.

The war was fought to the point that the topography and spatial rules of the world were changed. It is not an exaggeration to describe this war as a "war of the gods". Sauron had seen scenes of earth-shattering changes before, so how could he be so scared that he would flee just because of the loss of a group of tamed monsters?

The brown-robed wizard obviously couldn't understand the stranger's relaxed attitude. He asked tremblingly, "Why do you insist that it is the dark enemy? In fact, we haven't seen his face at all, so we can't be sure of his identity. Maybe it's just like the rumors say that the one who occupies Dol Guldur is just a daring and secretive necromancer, who doesn't have the power of Sauron, so he was scared away by you?"

"You said that the other person is not Sauron... Are you unwilling to believe it, or are you afraid to believe it?" Lin You seemed to be thinking about something, with a half-smile on his face, "Or is this idea actually your simple and beautiful hope?"

Although the brown-robed wizard was talking in a mysterious way, he was not stupid. It didn't take him long to realize that the foreign visitor was mocking his wishful thinking.

"What do you, a foreigner, know? You have no idea what kind of commotion will be caused by casually shouting the name of the dark enemy in Middle-earth. If Sauron really regains his power, it will be a huge crisis that requires all the kind races to unite to deal with; but now, the relationship between the races is no longer the same as in the past. If you make a fuss without solid evidence, the assembled army will not know who to fight against."

The brown-robed wizard's complaints and explanations sounded like an east wind blowing into a horse's ears to Lin You, and he did not take a single word of them to heart; instead, he caught some indirect information revealed in them.

"Since you are so aware of the threat and knowledge of Sauron, may I ask what I should do now? Should I continue to stay here and wait for Sauron to come back, or should I try my luck somewhere else and see if I can find Him?"

Faced with Lin You's "stubbornness", Radagast also became angry: "Didn't I tell you not to mention that name all the time? Don't talk nonsense without evidence. It will only make you look reckless and ignorant. It will do no good."

"Isn't the evidence in your hands?" Lin You pointed at the black dagger wrapped in leather. "You value this thing so much, isn't it because it can prove something?"

"Well... yes, I did think so. I wanted to find a reliable person to help me investigate further, but now... didn't you drive away the enemies in the castle?" "If they are driven away, they will definitely not come back? Dol Guldur is not a suitable place to live. Instead, it is more suitable for people with ulterior motives to do evil. Maybe you left with the good intention of driving away the evil forces, and they came back right after you left." Lin You "threatened" the brown-robed wizard with reason and evidence. "As for evidence, in addition to the dagger in your hand, I have another piece of evidence here! Don't forget what I said before, when the orcs invaded the other world, they dealt with the Supreme God there, and He clearly called himself 'Sauron'."

"Did he...really say that?" Radagast was speechless for a moment.

"That's exactly what I said."

The brown-robed wizard was shocked beyond words by the news. He paced back and forth in annoyance and bewilderment. Finally, his eyes fell on the black dagger in his hand, as if relying on this thing to help him make up his mind.

Then, Radagast took off the tattered hat on his head and talked to the bird in the hat: "Go, go find Gandalf, Gandalf the Grey."

He read the name "Gandalf" three times in a row to make sure that every bird understood, then waved his hand and let them fly away.

"I'm going to look for my friend. Do you want to come with me? Your testimony may be important and can provide reference for my friend." The brown-robed wizard asked eagerly.

"Are you talking about that 'Gandalf the Grey'?" Lin You asked knowingly.

"Yes, that's him. The last time we got news about him, he should be not far from Mirkwood. Let's go find him now." Radagast had already started to move while he was speaking, and his steps out of the castle were much more agile than when he came in. "He is a reliable man, and smarter than me. In this situation, perhaps he is the only one who knows what to do."

Lin You was looking at the brown-robed wizard's back and felt speechless; it was clearly the person asking him a question, but he walked out without getting a correct answer - is Gandalf's so-called "reliability" only revealed by comparison with you, Radagast?
It was not until they walked out of the castle gate, crossed the stone bridge, and were about to go downhill that Radagast turned around again and asked, "Are you coming with me, Mr. Forrester?"

"Besides asking your friend for the answer, don't you have any other suggestions to offer me?" Lin You didn't really want to get involved in the disputes between local forces. When he watched the Lord of the Rings movies, he discovered that Gandalf encountered the most troubles in the entire series of movies.

The writer is feeling worried right now, and just wants to deal with the mess here as simply and efficiently as possible, and return to the big world as quickly as possible.

Radagast could not understand Lin You's feelings, and asked back: "What kind of advice do you want? I'm not saying that if you want to get the most reasonable advice, it's better to listen to what Gandalf says."

Lin You was not giving up: "You don't have to belittle yourself. Or, just tell me how to find Sauron. Maybe I can convince him to give up his plan to invade the other world?"

"Your question really stumps me, sir. Sauron has been missing for a long time since he lost his power, and no one knows where he is now. Even if you firmly believe that he is the mastermind behind the incident in the castle, I can't find him now." The brown-robed wizard did not forget his original intention and continued to strongly recommend the original suggestion. "If it were up to me, I'd better go see Gandalf. Even if you want to get information, he has much more information than me."

Lin You let out a long sigh, and in his annoyance he suddenly felt the urge to make a big fuss right there; if he gave this dark forest a radical "transformation", could he lure out the creator god of this world?
Wouldn't it be more convenient and efficient to communicate directly through the highest level channels to resolve the crisis of the celestial conjunction? (End of this chapter)
