Falsifying history is good business

Chapter 490: A Farce Meeting

In the Lord of the Rings series, except for the orcs who can be produced on an assembly line, the population size of other races and countries is never large. Dwarves occupy a mountain, elves occupy a forest, and they are called kingdoms.

Just like Rivendell, where Lin You was standing at the moment, a valley with a radius of only ten miles was already one of the few large territories among the Middle-earth elves. Even the human kingdom of Gondor, which had a relatively large population, had only a river valley and a few large cities as its core territory.

Later, during the War of the Ring, the two human kingdoms of Gondor and Rohan put all their efforts into forming a coalition army, but at its peak, the total strength was less than 20,000. On the other hand, the orc coalition army besieging the capital of Gondor at the same time had a total strength several times greater than that of the human coalition army; so much so that Aragorn had to seek help from the dead (the souls of the dead) to lift the siege of the White City.

Later, when they took the initiative to go to Mordor for the Battle of the Black Gate, the main force of the human side was less than 10,000 at the beginning, and only 6,000 were left before the final battle...

If Lin Youzhen summoned an army of 100,000 from another world, would the Fourth Era with humans as the protagonists begin ahead of time?

Why do you care if they are the same kind of human beings? When the Creator God "Eru" played the great music of the world of Arda, he did not say what kind of human beings the protagonists of the Fourth Age would be, right?
Looking at the writer's calm expression, even though the four people present had all experienced tens of millions of years, they could not tell that this person was actually bluffing.

Ophiuchus's psychological passive skill can be used on others or reversed for oneself.

Just when the venue was in endless silence, Lady Galadriel spoke. From the beginning to now, this beautiful female elf has never spoken except for the greetings when they first met. When the white-robed wizard was arguing with Lin You and Gandalf, she never even looked at the three of them, as if it had nothing to do with her; even when Lin You opened the dimensional door, she was only briefly surprised for a moment, and quickly regained her composure.

But when her ethereal voice rang out, even the usually domineering Saruman subconsciously held his breath and listened attentively.

"Gandalf, I know that in addition to the testimony of the foreign visitor, you also have important physical evidence on you. Take it out and let everyone see it."

These words helped Saruman avoid further embarrassment and brought the meeting back on track from meaningless quarrels and awkward silences; Lin You also stopped and no longer pursued the white-robed wizard.

Gandalf obeyed the advice and took out a tightly bound leather and cloth package from his bosom; when he opened it, he found the black short sword that Radagast had found in Dol Guldur.

"Blade of Morgul?" Elrond was the first to lose his temper; Galadriel's eyes were also focused on the dagger.

Saruman wanted to verify the authenticity of the black dagger, but he was frozen as soon as his fingers touched the blade. It was not the physical cold, but the darkness and evil that penetrated into the bone marrow and touched the soul.

"It is confirmed that it is the Ringwraith's Morgul Blade, a monster they use to take away lives, enslave souls, and create puppets." Lady Galadriel's voice was still ethereal, but it had the final word, because her vision and knowledge were enough to convince everyone present; "The dark enemy has indeed revived, but we don't know how they achieved it and what stage of the revivification process they have reached."

Gandalf immediately said, "I will go to Mount Rhudaur and see the tomb where the Witch-king and the Ringwraiths were once imprisoned; Radagast will go with me."

The gray-robed wizard almost rushed to finalize the matter, not giving the white-robed wizard any chance to object.

"What about Lonely Mountain? Don't you care about those dwarves?" Saruman focused his attention on Gandalf. This could avoid more contact with Lin You, but it also made his gaze look more aggressive.

"Thorin has the blood of the King under the Mountain in his body, and he is the only royal heir recognized by the Durin dwarves; the Lonely Mountain is the dwarves' former homeland. No matter what, their legal basis for seeking to restore their country is beyond doubt, and no one can deny it." Gandalf did not directly answer Saruman's question, but his roundabout reasoning was equally irrefutable. Whether it was to restore their country or to take revenge, the dwarves' actions were naturally legitimate; whether the grey wizards cared about them or not, the white wizards had no reason to stop them.

This was the third time today that Saruman was speechless. The argument that the awakening of the evil dragon would bring unpredictable dangers to the North and even Middle-earth had been shattered by Lin You's sarcasm not long ago.

Smaug is lying in the belly of the Lonely Mountain. Unless the dragon dies, the danger will always be there. You can't really expect Smaug to sleep and die in the treasure pile, right? Is this the White Council's strategy to deal with the enemy?
Saruman racked his brains to find a new excuse: "Thirteen dwarves and a hobbit, they don't have the slightest chance of defeating Smaug, and it is more likely that they will all die under the dragon's flame. I suggest that they postpone their actions. Since you are going to explore Mount Rhudaur, we will make a detailed and reliable plan after you bring back accurate information - whether it is to recapture the Lonely Mountain or fight against the dark enemy."

Listening to the white-robed wizard's righteous and seemingly mature proposal, the grey-robed wizard couldn't help feeling embarrassed; everyone knew that the main purpose of Saruman's words was to delay, and he was not really considering the dwarves.

In Gandalf's view, Saruman's current behavior is tantamount to making more mistakes in order to prove his wrong ideas, but the problem is that the other party appears to be acting for the public good, and the suggestions he puts forward sound quite reasonable and "cautious".

This makes it hard to refuse.

When the gray-robed wizard was in a dilemma, Lin You came to his rescue.

"I have always heard that mature and stable politicians will adopt a steady four-step strategy when dealing with major and difficult issues: the first step is to claim that there is absolutely no problem at present, and nothing has happened; the second step is to believe that something may happen at present, but we should not rush to take blind action; the third step is to admit that something has indeed happened, but declare that we are powerless and can't do anything at present; the fourth step is to reflect on it afterwards and think that it would have been better if we had done something at the beginning, but now it is too late."

Lin You stretched out four fingers of his left hand, then stretched out his right hand and tapped back and forth on the first and second fingers of his left hand;

"At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Saruman was determined to stick to the first step; has he corrected his mistake in time and taken the second step? Are you already preparing for the third step and drafting a speech for the fourth step?"

Gandalf turned his face away silently, trying hard to hold back his laughter from an angle where no one could see. Suddenly he found that all his little movements were seen by Lady Galadriel, and he felt very embarrassed.

"They've left, haven't they?" The Queen of Light's voice was unhurried, but everyone could hear it clearly, and it also prevented a new round of quarrel between Saruman and Lin You from breaking out in time.

Gandalf nodded slightly. "Yes, they left just as the meeting began."

"Who, who left?" Saruman asked sharply, but then he realized, "Those dwarves, have they left?"

"Yes." Facing his white-robed colleague, the grey-robed wizard looked embarrassed, but also had a bit of a rogue look, "They have left the valley and are on the journey to restore their country again."

"Well, if that's the case, why hold this meeting?" Saruman was furious and walked away in anger; but the people present looked at him and felt that he was running away from something. (End of this chapter)
