Chapter 87: The Indifferent Words on the Shelf

Chapter 87: The Indifferent Words on the Shelf
Officially launched on December 12st.

It seems that it is a common practice in the industry to write a thank you note for the book being published; however, I have always believed that a thank you note should be written based on your feelings. So when my last book flopped, I did not write a thank you note for the book being published, and was scolded by readers.

I can't repeat the same mistake this time. Since I have to write, I might as well write more.

Since I have no feelings, I won’t talk about my mood or emotions. I can’t express them even if I want to. So I might as well take this opportunity to talk about the character design of this book.

I have always felt that if the author of a novel has to explain the content of the book to the readers outside the novel, the novel will appear to be a failure; but recently some readers have been complaining that some of the protagonist's behaviors are bugs, or deliberately lowering his intelligence. It seems that some of the plots are indeed described a bit poorly, causing readers to misunderstand.

First of all, the protagonist is indeed living a rather miserable life; this is the plot design of the novel itself. But this misery is not because the protagonist is stupid, or I, the author, forcefully lower his intelligence, but because the protagonist has to make a choice in this environment.

I have always emphasized Lin You’s two identities: a worker (employee) and a wandering ghost.

Because he can control the "real factor", he is recruited by the gods to participate in the Big World Plan; some readers may only see the indispensability of the protagonist's ability, but never think about it the other way around: if there is no Big World Plan as a platform, and no quill pen forged by the gods as a medium, his ability is actually shit and has basically no value.

Therefore, the gods need a big world plan, and Lin You actually needs a big world plan even more. Without this plan, the gods are still gods, and even if the world is destroyed, it will be several or even dozens of centuries later. But without this plan, what else can Lin You do?
In reality, migrant workers can be very tough. If they are not welcome here, they will go back to the countryside. As long as the family conditions are not too bad, they can go back home to rely on their parents. No matter how angry their parents are, they will always give them food to eat.

But Lin You is a lonely ghost! Without the platform of the Great World Project and the quill pen, what value does he have? What else can he do? To put it bluntly, he can't even find his parents if he wants to rely on them.

He wanted the Great World Plan to run normally and for a long time more than anyone else. At the same time, he had to maintain his neutral and objective position as the author and not easily intervene in the disputes among the gods.

Because even in reality, if you testify in court, the other party's lawyer will question the fairness of your testimony, let alone testifying against a god king in the fantasy dimension? If the protagonist is suspected of bias, even if he will not be deprived of his status as a writer, he will definitely face stricter supervision and control; why should he do that?

Moreover, the book has already described the relationship between the gods through the mouth of the Ophiuchus Saint: intrigue and mutual vigilance. Such a relationship between "gods" is very testing for mutual trust to maintain basic cooperation.

If the protagonist makes an accusation and the Olympian pantheon takes the opportunity to pursue the Roman pantheon relentlessly, will that make other smaller pantheons mourn the loss of the Roman pantheon and make them doubt the intentions of the Olympian pantheon?

Any suspicion, once fermented, could cause the Great World Plan to fall apart and ruin the protagonist's job. Therefore, he was too busy hiding from the struggles of the gods, so how could he rush to the front to support a certain pantheon without solid evidence?
After all, in the Big World Project, Lin You is just an employee who masters some core technologies, but these core technologies are not enough for him to act recklessly and do whatever he wants to anyone he catches.

The frustration he felt now was not because he was stupid, but because he was using the human mindset to maximize his own interests and minimize his losses in the undercurrent of the struggle among the gods.

What can he do as a mere mortal, with no relatives and in the arena of gods?

As for the protagonist simply completely surrendering to a certain pantheon... isn't this the most stupid choice?
In addition, I have seen some comments from readers who imagined the plot later and then accused me of imaginary content. I will not reply to them. I just hope that everyone's future discussions will be based on facts, rationality and objectivity, and be generous and magnanimous, and make money through harmony. I don't ask for anything else.

Here, I would like to thank all the book friends who have always supported me.
