Chapter 28, Lai San gets into trouble

On the second day after the underground warehouse was discovered, Lai San had not come to work at 9 a.m.

The Wang family was very surprised, because Lai San usually came to the courtyard early to help with the housework, but he hadn't come yet so late today. Wang Li's father was a little worried about him, so he went to Lai San's house to look for him.

There was only a young man whom he didn't know in the house looking after Lai San.

Then he and the young and strong neighbors in the house took Lai San to a nearby hospital for treatment.

After the doctor's diagnosis, Lai San didn't have any serious problems. He just had multiple blunt injuries all over his body and a mild concussion in his head. He would wake up after a few drops of fluid.

Wang Li's father felt relieved and asked the young man who was accompanying him to stay in the hospital to take care of him after notifying his family.

Wang Li returned home from school in the afternoon and found that the purchasing station was closed. His father and Lai San were not there. He asked his mother why. After learning what happened, he immediately rushed to the hospital where Lai San was staying. When he arrived at the hospital, Lai San was already awake and was about to go through the discharge procedures with his father.

The few people didn't talk much when they met. After completing the discharge procedures, Lai San stayed at Wang Li's house tonight because he was not able to move around easily. His father took Lai San home, and Wang Li went to Lai San's house to pick up Lai Xiaomei.

After they returned to the courtyard, Wang Li learned why Lai San was beaten.

It turned out that this morning, Lai San met a friend who used to hang out with him on the street on his way to work. The friend asked him to go out to do something, that is, to help him go out to fight. Lai San already had a formal job, and he promised Wang Li that he would be a good person in the future, so he did not agree to his friend's request.

His father was very confident in him and thought that this matter must be resolved well, otherwise there will be trouble in the future, so he nodded and agreed.

This Sunday morning, after Wang Li and Lai San had dinner, Lai San took Wang Li to look for the man who beat him. When the two arrived at the man's house, the man was having dinner. After seeing Lai San and Wang Li, he laughed and said, "Why did you bring a kid here to look for trouble? That's all you have. Why don't you hang out with your brothers? You're going backwards!"
Wang Li didn't say anything. He walked directly to the man and grabbed the junction of his neck and shoulder with his left hand. The man became weak all over and was held in Wang Li's hand like a chicken.

The man knew that he had met a tough guy this time, so he begged for mercy in a low voice: Brother, brother, I was wrong because I didn't recognize the great man.

Wang Li said: Lai San is my friend. If you beat him, you are not giving me face. I will not let anyone who does not give me face have an easy time. What do you want to do about this matter?
When the man heard this, his body trembled and he pleaded in a low voice: You have the final say.

Wang Li proposed: First, Lai San now has a formal job, and you should cut off all ties with him and stop causing trouble for him. Second, I will not do anything to you, but you must compensate Lai San for his losses, hospitalization fees and mental damages.
