Chapter 263 First Power Generation
During Liu Tao's visit to Kunming City, in addition to inspecting the construction site, he also went to the Chaishitan Reservoir with provincial leaders.

Because the Chaishitan Reservoir is about to start generating electricity for the first time!

This is undoubtedly a milestone.

The Chaishitan Reservoir had previously supplied water to several factories including the Panshan Machinery Factory, and is now finally going to start supplying electricity.

With the electricity from the Chaishitan Reservoir, the problem of electricity use will be greatly alleviated.

At the very least, with this input of electricity, there will be no need to limit electricity in the living areas of various factories.

However, this does not mean that the annual power generation can reach 16 billion kWh after the first power generation. This will take two years to achieve.

Because the entire project has not been completed yet, it is just that the turbines can now be used to generate electricity.

The water level at the Chaishitan Reservoir Dam is already considerable at this time.

Water continuously flows into the water diversion channel through the water diversion tunnel, and then flows to the tank area through the water diversion channel to become water for agricultural irrigation.

With this reservoir, nearly 38 acres of farmland will no longer have to worry about drought and water shortage.

The most impressive thing is the increased grain output from these 38 acres of farmland.

It may be due to the butterfly effect caused by Liu Tao, or it may be the general trend. Yunnan Province is carrying out a vigorous household contract responsibility system, breaking the previous communal and village collective system of big pots.

The land is divided according to the population, and everyone only needs to pay taxes according to regulations.

After Liu Tao and others delivered their speeches, power generation began. After the water was diverted, the turbine was driven to rotate under the action of the water head, and then power was generated continuously.

The generated electricity is boosted by a transformer and then transmitted to its destination via high-voltage wires.

The current power generation is 2 million kWh per year, or 54.8 kWh per day.

This amount of power generation is already considerable, enough to supply electricity to residents of a county town of 200,000 to 300,000 people.

However, for now, the surrounding towns and villages cannot enjoy the benefits of this electricity because the electricity is transmitted to various factories such as Panshan Machinery Factory.

"Once we build these large reservoir hydropower stations and medium-sized reservoir hydropower stations, our entire Yunnan Province will have no shortage of electricity for the next 30 years!" the leader said with anticipation.

Liu Tao laughed in his heart, thinking that this was too optimistic.

Previously, Yunnan Province's annual power generation was between 52 and 56 billion kWh, which ranked 17th in the country.

The annual power generation of Chaishitan Reservoir is 16 billion kWh, which means that Yunnan Province's annual power generation will be around 70 billion kWh.

70 billion kWh of electricity generation was what Yunnan Province had planned to achieve by 1984.

Due to the chain reaction caused by the Panshan Machinery Factory, the Chaishitan Reservoir was built ahead of schedule, and the annual power generation target of 70 billion kWh can be achieved this year.

Because in addition to the current annual power generation of 2 million kWh at Chaishitan, other reservoirs and hydropower stations have accelerated their construction and are also generating electricity one after another.

In about three years, the reservoir and hydropower station currently under construction will bring the entire Yunnan Province's power generation to an astonishing 300 billion kilowatt-hours.

300 billion kWh. This is unimaginable for Yunnan Province at present, because Yunnan Province's plan is to reach 1985 billion kWh of annual power generation by 70, which is also the sixth five-year plan.

300 billion degrees, no one dares to imagine this number.

Liu Tao knew that 300 billion kWh of electricity was nothing. Ten years later, the annual electricity consumption of Panshan Group alone in Yunnan Province would reach this figure. "Leader, the construction of these reservoirs and hydropower stations still needs the help of the province to speed up the construction," Liu Tao said.

Panshan Machinery Factory is unable to build such large and medium-sized water conservancy and hydropower projects and has to rely on the province. In addition to the construction of reservoirs and hydropower stations, there is also the construction of high-voltage lines.

These reservoirs and hydropower stations are jointly managed by both parties, and the annual income is split 4:6:6, with Panshan Machinery Factory getting 6 and the province getting 4.

Of course, what Liu Tao cares most about is ensuring the safety of electricity and water use in each factory.

After all, if there is no water or electricity for a day, the losses will be huge.

"The province will definitely do its best to do this. These have been included in the national and provincial key projects." The leader said solemnly.

If Yunnan Province were to invest, to be honest, it simply cannot come up with any money, not even enough to build a large reservoir.

But the money for these projects was paid by Panshan Machinery Factory, which is different.

These projects themselves can greatly promote Yunnan Province.

For example, the Bruge Hydropower Station is located on a ridge beside the Huangni River, the boundary river between Yunnan and Guizhou provinces. It is a 60-kilowatt hydropower station to be built. The 30th Engineering Bureau of the Ministry of Water Resources and Electric Power is responsible for the construction, with assistance from the province. Once completed, the annual power generation can reach billion kWh.

The Ministry of Water Resources and Electric Power originally started construction of this project in 1977. The th Hydropower Bureau began to build roads and make preparations for construction. However, due to lack of funds, the project has never been officially started. Most of the small amount of funds allocated by the state to the Engineering Bureau each year is used to maintain the construction team.

With the funding from Panshan Machinery Factory, the project started construction at the beginning of last year.

Reservoir hydropower projects like these, which were previously planned but not built due to lack of funds, or are being built but very slowly, have been started and commissioned thanks to the funding from Panshan Machinery Factory.

In three to five years, Yunnan Province's annual power generation will be able to increase to 300 billion kWh, which is already the highest level in the country.

Liaoning Province ranks first in the country in terms of electricity generation. As an industrial base, Liaoning Province's annual electricity generation reaches 280 billion kWh, ranking first in the country.

The only thing that makes the leaders a little regretful is that it would be best if Panshan Machinery Factory could use all the money it has used to build reservoirs and hydropower stations in the other three southwestern provinces in Yunnan Province.

Liu Tao looked at the endless flow of water pouring in, driving the turbines and then discharging into the downstream river, and couldn't help but marvel in his heart. It is by utilizing the power of nature to generate electricity and benefit mankind that modern industrialization of mankind is possible.

Human beings' modern industrialization cannot be separated from water and electricity.

Look at those three thick pipes. Each water pipeline can increase the water plant's water supply capacity to 25 tons per day, which can meet the water needs of residents in a city with a population of 50.

In addition to supplying the Panshan Machinery Factory, this water can also be supplied to the surrounding towns and villages.

All these will benefit the people.

After attending the first power generation ceremony, Liu Tao left.

However, when leaving Kun City, he went to see Wang Tiezhu. As for the first director of Panshan Machinery Factory, Liu Tao would always visit him whenever he came to Kun City.

However, with the reform of the third-line factories, Wang Tiezhu became obviously much busier.

Although the situation of these third-tier factories is much better than that of other provinces and they do not need funding from their superiors to maintain operations, they do need to re-establish their organizational structure and production system in order to solve the problems that currently exist in these factories.

Liu Tao had just arrived at the Yunnan Provincial National Defense Management Office when he heard Wang Tiezhu yelling at him at the top of his voice from ten meters away, threatening to shoot the other person at any time.

Liu Tao laughed in his heart, but after hearing Wang Tiezhu's voice, he felt relieved, as it meant that the old factory director was still in good health.
