Chapter 429 Tianhe-1 supercomputer?
Chapter 429 Tianhe- supercomputer?
The book "The Future Belongs to China" was sent for review and prepared for publication.
Liu Tao went to the Ministry of Railways.
Next, we will inspect the "Beijing-Kowloon Railway" project. This project is related to major events in 1987 and no one dares to be careless. It can be said that this is the top priority of the Ministry of Railways.
The project had to be completed before the Spring Festival of 1987, which was an ironclad schedule.
It can be completed earlier, but it cannot be completed later.
If there is a delay, no one will be able to escape the consequences.
Just half a month ago, Panshan Group delivered another "Fuxing" EMU to the Ministry of Railways, allowing the Ministry of Railways to conduct tests on the completed section of the road.
The current test has reached the full load test.
The 468-kilometer line from Beijing West Railway Station to Yanggu Station in Shandong Province has been fully opened. Except for the railway station which has not been fully built, there is no problem running on the line. Even some of the completed railway stations are already in trial operation.
In addition to the two "Fuxing" EMU trains, the Ministry of Railways has arranged more passengers to study on each train.
After all, the 'Fuxing' EMU is completely different from traditional trains, and there are many things that need to be re-learned.
"It is expected that by the National Day, the line will be able to be opened from Beijing to the entire Central Plains Province!" The head of the Ministry of Railways said confidently: "According to this progress, it will not be a problem to open the entire line to traffic by the Spring Festival of 1987!"
The total mileage from the capital to the entire Central Plains Province is 718.3 kilometers, which is also the junction of Zhengzhou Railway Bureau and Modou Railway Bureau.
Of course, this does not mean that only 718.3 kilometers of railways were built. In fact, more railways were built.
It’s just that the tunnel has not been completed and the bridge has not been built, so it cannot be opened to traffic.
The difficulty of the Beijing-Kowloon Railway project is not the northern section, which has only a few bridges and no large tunnels. The difficulty lies in the southern section, which requires many tunnels, and some of them are very long, such as the Wuzhishan Tunnel, which is 4455 meters long.
There is also the Qiling Tunnel, which is 2536 meters long!
The construction of these two tunnels is extremely difficult. For example, the geology of the Wuzhishan Tunnel section is composed of tuffaceous and calcareous conglomerate of the Upper Cretaceous System and coarse-grained biotite granite of the Yanshanian Period. The surrounding rock sections of Class II, III, IV, and V account for 10%, 15%, 54%, and 21% of the total length of the tunnel, respectively. On both sides of the line in the middle section of the tunnel are the 108 and 109 radioactive ore sections, and the radiation intensity belongs to the normal field. In addition, there is a geothermal structural zone with a maximum temperature of about 40 degrees. The tunnel passes through more than a dozen faults, and the F9 and F10 faults have the greatest impact on the construction. The width of the fault and the affected belt is 110 m, and the water inflow of the entire tunnel is about 12000 tons day and night.
The Qiling Tunnel integrates caves, karst gullies, faults, rock bursts, yellow clay, etc. It has abundant groundwater and is very difficult to construct. It is a controlling project for the entire line. Due to its extraordinary construction difficulty, it is known as the "No. 1 Project" of the Beijing-Kowloon Railway.
So far, a total of 5 shield machines have been put into use in the entire "Beijing-Kowloon Railway", all of which are designed to dig tunnels faster.
The amount of shield machines invested has exceeded that of the "Shenhai Expressway".
It can be said that the construction of the "Beijing-Kowloon Railway" was truly carried out at all costs.
The money of Panshan Group was continuously deposited into the special account of the "Beijing-Kowloon Railway" project.
The Beijing-Kowloon Railway project is like a huge money-eating beast, as if it can consume any amount of money invested. The driving effect of the Beijing-Kowloon Railway project is quite obvious. Cement plants, sand and gravel plants, wood plants, quarries, cable plants, etc. have all been driven up, and the economic development along the line is obviously better than before.
The drainage boards, fire protection boards, side wall aluminum stone panel systems, tunnel LED lights, etc. used in tunnels are all newly born industries, and they have all been driven by the "Beijing-Kowloon Railway".
After all, the labor cost expenditure for the entire "Beijing-Kowloon Railway" project is actually not that much, about 5 to billion yuan, which means that it only accounts for about %. The rest is actually used for engineering. It is conceivable that such a large amount of money has a huge boost to the local economy.
Liu Tao accompanied the head of the Ministry of Railways on the inspection for two days, checking for deficiencies and filling in the gaps. All those that did not meet the standards had to be re-inspected, and five shield machines were repaired at the same time.
These five shield machines work day and night. After one tunnel is completed, they are moved to the next tunnel.
This results in alarming losses. Liu Tao has to repair the shield machines once a month, otherwise the five shield machines would have been scrapped long ago.
As soon as he returned to Beijing, Liu Tao received a notice. After taking a shower and changing into clean clothes, Liu Tao went to the leader's office.
"Why do you want to rebuild 'Southwest Associated University'?" the old man asked while smoking.
They have read the report on rebuilding "Southwest Associated University" and found it quite controversial.
Firstly, "Southwest Associated University" has special significance. Secondly, because the investment is huge, it is better to invest so much money in a university in Beijing.
"Leader, aren't we planning to build a root server and a supercomputing center? This is just right. I went to Hong Kong University some time ago and felt the importance of universities, so I wanted to rebuild 'Southwest Associated University'." Liu Tao said quickly.
"Supercomputing center? Are you planning to develop a supercomputing center?" the old man asked curiously.
Although the country is still openly promoting the "Galaxy" supercomputer, this is just a smokescreen used to confuse the outside world.
Liu Tao nodded and said, "We plan to develop the Tianhe-1 supercomputer, which will have a computing speed of one quadrillion times per second. It can be widely used in weather forecasting, aerodynamic testing, engineering physics, oil exploration, seismic data processing and other fields, and will generate huge economic and social benefits."
"For example, if the 'Tianhe-5' supercomputer is used in the medium-term numerical weather forecast system, it can issue 7 to -day medium-term numerical weather forecasts," said Liu Tao.
The usefulness and importance of supercomputers are beyond doubt.
As long as there is a supercomputer with a computing speed of one petaflop, it can meet all the computing power requirements of the entire China.
If the news of the Tianhe-1 supercomputer were to get out, it would definitely be considered crazy.
"At present, we have formed local area networks in various production bases in the southwest. The next step is to plan to connect various universities and research institutions." Liu Tao said: "Although there are several universities in Kunming, there are still a lack of heavyweight universities. Rebuilding the 'Southwest Associated University' is very suitable."
"When the time comes, our Panshan Group will fully support the construction of 'Southwest Associated University' and build 'Southwest Associated University' into a world-class university." Liu Tao said: "Kun City can also become a national university education center and scientific research center!"
Liu Tao is very confident about this. Although Kunming City is located at a high altitude, on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, surrounded by mountains on three sides and the Dianchi Plain, it also has advantages. It is also China's frontier gateway to Southeast Asia, South Asia and even the Middle East, Southern Europe and Africa. It has a unique location advantage of connecting Guizhou and Guangxi to the coast in the east, to the Central Plains through Sichuan and Chongqing in the north, to Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and Cambodia in the south, and to Myanmar, India and Pakistan in the west.
