The 1968A Division participated in the Battle of Khe Sanh in 1971, the Battle of Highway 9 in 1972, the Battle of Quang Tri in 1974, and was incorporated into the Second Army in May 5. In 1975, it participated in the Battle of Hue-Da Nang and the Battle of Ho Chi Minh, attacked Saigon from the east, and captured the pseudo-President Nguyen Van Minh alive.

Originally, the 304th Division entered Cambodia in 1978, but rushed to the Liangshan area for emergency assistance in March 1979.

Later, with the help of the Soviet Army, the 304th Division was reorganized into the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Division of the Vietnamese Army, enhancing its air defense combat capability and armored offensive capability.

In recent years, although the 304th Division has suffered several setbacks, it has not been completely wiped out so far. After resting and replenishing troops, it is now fully staffed again.

After only a few reinforcements, the 304th Division's combat effectiveness is no longer as good as before.

But even if it is not as strong as before, the 304th Division still has 1.4 troops.

If they wanted to continue moving south, they had to remove the obstacle that was the 304th Division.
