The rise of a great power: starting with military industry
Chapter 865 J-11 Fighter Improvement
Chapter 865 J-11 Fighter Improvement
Liu Tao came to the J-11 fighter improvement center.
This area is located on the east side of the third floor of the Military Aircraft Research Institute, and is dedicated to the development of various models of the J-11 fighter jet.
It is also the focus of the current Military Aircraft Research Institute.
When Liu Tao came here, he found that the security force here was the strongest in Guifei Group, and all kinds of security equipment were very powerful and advanced.
Here, we even have fingerprint recognition and facial recognition technologies to prevent people from sneaking in.
The entire J-11 fighter improvement center has a separate server and is not connected to the external Internet, ensuring sufficient security.
For internal use, it is a dedicated LAN.
Liu Tao happened to encounter the J-11B fighter project team holding a meeting.
Liu Tao was watching quietly at the door. When someone noticed him, he made a hushing sound.
In the conference room, Yang Wei, head of the J-11B fighter project team, was presiding over the meeting.
This is a technical meeting.
It has been more than a year since Yang Wei was transferred here.
After arriving at the new unit and being responsible for leading the J-11 fighter project team, Yang Wei devoted himself wholeheartedly to his work.
Liu Tao didn't disturb anyone, just watched quietly.
Liu Tao was still very satisfied with Yang Wei's performance.
Serious, hardworking, and talented.
Even with the framework of the J-11 fighter jet created by Liu Tao, Yang Wei is often able to break through the framework.
Over a year, relying on his own efforts and Liu Tao's occasional guidance, Yang Wei led the project team and basically mastered the technology of the J-11A fighter.
The J-11B fighter project team, in addition to being in the office, spends a lot of time participating in the production of the J-11A fighter and communicating with test pilots.
Three J-3 fighter test pilots participated in this technical meeting.
Ge Shun, Wang Guomin and Wei Bingyan, three people who were awarded the title of "Test Flight Heroes", all participated in the meeting. They are also the researchers who developed the J-11B fighter.
Liu Tao nodded slightly. It was very good that Yang Wei was able to do things down to earth, which made him very satisfied.
To be honest, he can handle the J-11B fighter jet, but that is of no use to the development of China's aviation industry.
It is enough for him to do breakthrough work, and other work still needs to be done by other scientific researchers.
Cultivating a scientific research team with innovative thinking, solid basic skills and advanced technology is much more important than Liu Tao personally developing the J-11B fighter.
And now, Yang Wei and his team are on the right track.
The meeting lasted until 12 o'clock, which was already time to get off work, but the meeting was not over yet. Yang Wei asked his secretary to go to the cafeteria to pack up the food.
It was at this time that Yang Wei noticed Liu Tao standing at the door.
Liu Tao signaled Yang Wei to continue. Yang Wei also understood Liu Tao, so he continued the meeting.
Although the J-11B fighter jet is based on the J-11A fighter jet with one more seat, there are many technical issues to consider.
The plan that Yang Wei and his team have come up with now is for two pilots to sit vertically under a single cockpit cover.
The J-11B fighter will have a structural weight 11kg heavier than the J-363A fighter. The rear instructor seat has full control capabilities and good visibility, and can complete any maneuvers within the flight envelope, including takeoff and landing.
In other words, the functions of the rear seat and the front seat are almost the same, and the authority of the two is determined by the pilot's authority.
Because pilots all have their own cards, these cards are both a symbol of identity and a record of flight information.
When two pilots boarded the J-11B fighter, there was a distinction between the upper and lower pilots and the primary and secondary pilots.
At critical moments, those with higher authority can take over control of the aircraft.
Obviously, the plan led by Yang Wei is very different from the previous one.
The previous plan was to split the functions and assign each unit its own responsibilities.
Liu Tao approved of Yang Wei's plan.
The two can either have a division of labor or add an extra layer of coverage when performing tasks.
For example, if one of them encounters an accident and is unable to control the plane, the other one can continue the mission or fly the plane back.
Liu Tao also stayed here to eat. He and Yang Wei discussed the plan while eating. Liu Tao pointed out some shortcomings of their plan and then put forward his own opinions.
"Your canopy is too large, which will have a significant impact on high altitude, high speed and super maneuverability." Liu Tao pointed out the biggest shortcoming, which is the canopy. "Also, since it is a two-seater, it needs to maintain powerful computing power, so the performance in this area should be improved."
Yang Wei seemed to be thinking about something. After thinking for a while, he nodded.
In the afternoon, Liu Tao went to the J-11A fighter improvement center. The J-11A fighter has been in service, but that does not mean it cannot be improved. It can still be improved.
Now the Improvement Center has formed an improvement plan, which is to improve the internal fuel capacity, radar, additional fuel tanks, etc.
The internal fuel capacity can be increased by 1.116 tons, and the improved radar mainly improves the radar performance on the original basis, and then installs conformal fuel tanks on both sides of the air inlet.
Improvements in this area require further demonstration and simulation before an improved prototype can be built. It is planned that the J-1996 AI prototype will be released by 11.
Liu Tao is still very relieved in this regard.
Later, Liu Tao went to the reconnaissance aircraft development center upstairs.
The starting point of China's reconnaissance aircraft is low, and most of them are modified from existing aircraft.
In the 6s, China began the development of supersonic reconnaissance aircraft. The J-6, the main fighter at the time, was successfully selected. After modification, the J-6 was renamed J-6C, which was later the J-6. As soon as the J- was developed, it began to be mass-produced and became my country's main reconnaissance aircraft.
The J-6 was discontinued in 1986, but is still in service in large numbers in the Air Force.
That year, China shot down the U-2 reconnaissance plane made in the United States, which greatly helped the progress of China's reconnaissance work, especially the latest aerial reconnaissance camera in the U-2 reconnaissance plane. The research technology of this reconnaissance plane is only mastered by the United States, which can take clear photos within a range of more than 6 kilometers in length and 8 kilometers in width. After this technology was cracked, it was applied to the J-8, and combined with other technologies, a high-altitude and high-speed tactical reconnaissance plane was finally developed based on the J-8, namely the J- (J-R).
China now has the J-10 and J-11 fighter jets, but it is not suitable to convert these two aircraft into reconnaissance aircraft.
Therefore, the idea is to develop a reconnaissance aircraft based on the J-8G.
The J-8G is the latest improved version of China's J-8 fighter jet. It is a second-generation and a half fighter jet. Its main features are its high altitude and high speed. It can perform supersonic cruise at an altitude of 25000 meters. Its maximum speed reaches Mach 2.5, which is the extreme speed among China's Air Force fighter jets.
The reason why it can reach such a fast speed is naturally because it is equipped with a powerful advanced engine.
Now the reconnaissance aircraft development center is working with relevant departments, hoping to develop the J-8G based on the J-8G fighter, so as to enhance the performance of China's tactical reconnaissance aircraft.
By now, the development of China's reconnaissance has become very clear. Strategic reconnaissance missions are completed by satellites, which means that there is no need for strategic reconnaissance aircraft.
Tactical reconnaissance aircraft are modified from other aircraft, such as transport aircraft, fighter jets, and helicopters.
The J-8G will be the most advanced reconnaissance aircraft converted from fighter jets.
