Captain Jack of Azeroth

Chapter 1: Lucky Rabbit's Foot

Chapter 1: Lucky Rabbit's Foot
The town of Shining Gold was burning, and the flames were particularly dazzling in the dark night.

Every time the shadow on the wall raised its axe, it represented the death of a resident of Goldshire. The wolf's howl could be heard from far away, causing the small animals in the forest to flee.

In the bushes, a man covered a child's mouth tightly to prevent him from making any sound.

However, the searching orcs kept approaching. They spoke in an incomprehensible language, but the man understood their actions.

The orcs have determined that there are living people nearby.

The man looked at the boy in his arms, a hint of determination flashed in his eyes.

He took out a white object from his arms and said softly, "Jack, take this. This is the lucky rabbit's foot. It can bring you good luck."

The boy made a bitter face, "You still want to lie to me at this time."

"Dad didn't lie to you. It really works."

The man put the lucky rabbit's foot into the boy's hand and whispered, "Jack, remember! No matter what happens next, don't make any noise."

"What do you want to do?" Jack asked.

"Remember, don't make any noise!"

The man repeatedly warned, then suddenly got up and rushed out of the bushes.

The orc's wolf looked over instantly, and with a few leaps of the orcs, it caught up with the man. The orc raised his battle axe fiercely and chopped the man's back.

The man fell to the ground, but he still looked in Jack's direction. In the dim light of the torch, Jack understood what he was saying.

Do not--

want--

out--

Voice!!!
Jack stared at the man and wanted to rush out, but he didn't have the courage.

The orc jumped off his wolf, cursing, swinging his axe, standing in front of the man, and chopped him down.

The man's head flew up and landed not far from Jack. The blood splashed on Jack's face, and Jack almost screamed out in fear. Jack covered his mouth, tears pouring out. Fear spread in his body, and everything became unreal in a trance.

He seemed to no longer belong to this world. Like a bystander, he watched the orcs pick up the man's head and hang it on their warg.

The wolf sniffed in the direction of the bushes, as if it could smell Jack's presence.

Just then, a horn sounded.

The orc turned over and jumped onto the wolf. He pulled the reins and the wolf ran away quickly.

After a long time, Jack finally crawled out of the bushes. He staggered to the man's body, knelt down with a plop, and pushed the man's body hard, "Wake up! You can't die!"

How could a dead man respond to Jack?
Jack's eyes were wide open, and he kept trying to wake the man up.

In a trance, he seemed to see the man stand up and reach out to touch his head.

Jack felt an inexplicable sense of security and couldn't help but close his eyes.

The man turned into particles of light and floated towards the lucky rabbit's foot in Jack's hand.

Suddenly, a wolf howl was heard in the distance, waking Jack up. Jack looked at the headless body in front of him, completely collapsed, and burst into tears. While crying, he stood up and ran as if there was a ghost chasing him.

After running for an unknown distance, Jack was tripped by a vine, fell to the ground and fainted.

In his hand, the blood-stained lucky rabbit's foot shone with a faint glow. The next day, on the road in the forest, a group of human cavalry and a group of orc wolf cavalry had an encounter. Both sides charged back and forth, and both suffered losses.

The orcs relied on their strong bodies and ability to withstand blows to gain the upper hand. More than a dozen human knights were killed or injured. Some had their heads crushed by the orcs; some were knocked off their horses by the orcs and trampled to death by wargs and horses; and some horses were bitten by wargs and threw the knights into the nearby bushes, where they fell on the body of an unlucky guy.

Jack was awakened by the impact and looked at the battlefield outside the bushes with even greater horror.

He screamed, jumped up and ran.

A wolf rider had just killed his opponent and was about to look for his next enemy when he set his sights on Jack.

As he chased after him, he pondered how to torture Jack to death. In his opinion, Jack should be a deserter. He was full of contempt for cowards who dared not fight. Only torture was the correct way to treat this coward without a sense of honor.

Jack also spotted the wolf riders and ran even faster, but he stumbled in the bushes and nearly fell several times.

The wolf cavalry was getting closer and closer, and the shining swords in their hands reflected Jack's terrified expression.

"Crack!"

"Oh!"

The branch caught the broadsword and pulled the wolf rider to the ground.

Damn it! Why didn't I pay attention to the branches above my head?
The wolf rider got up in frustration, whistled to call the wolf back, climbed up again, and continued to chase Jack.

Just as Jack breathed a sigh of relief, he found that the wolf cavalry had caught up with him again, so he had to keep running.

Suddenly, Jack's feet were empty and he fell into the river.

"Wow—"

The cold river water sobered Jack up a little.

"I can not swim!"

"Help!"

The wolf rider couldn't help laughing as he watched Jack struggling in the water. Letting him drown in the river was also a good option.

He followed Jack downstream along the river bank and would not return until he saw Jack drowned.

Jack drank several gulps of water and began to feel dizzy. Finally, his head drooped in the water and hit a rock, and he didn't move for a long time.

"cut!"

The wolf rider spat in disdain before pulling the reins and riding his wolf away.

He didn't see at all that the light from the lucky rabbit's foot in Jack's hand was slowly seeping into Jack's body.

As the sky gradually darkened, Jack, who was lying in the water, suddenly struggled. Just when he was about to drown, he hit a rock and fainted, entering a state of suspended animation. In the state of suspended animation, people do not need to breathe. But if they are not rescued, it is difficult to wake up again.

But under the protection of the lucky rabbit's foot, Jack luckily escaped from his suspended animation and woke up on his own.

Jack climbed up the river bank, still in a daze, like a walking corpse. The mental trauma made him lose all desire to live, and he walked without knowing the direction.

After walking all night, Jack came to an apple orchard. Being hungry, he picked apples directly from the apple tree and ate them in big mouthfuls.

As he was eating, he felt sleepy and soon fell asleep leaning against a tree.

The war in the forest intensified, and the orc army advanced to the vicinity of Stormwind City. When the army was at the gates of the city, Sir Anduin Lothar proposed a plan to use ships to transport cavalry to the western wilderness, and then rush to the rear of the orc army and launch a surprise attack.
