The Four Steps to the Sky

Chapter 73 Origin and foundation of the shackles of nowhere

Floating Pot Space - Rousseau

Jean, Jacques, Rousseau (1712-1778) Swiss-born French thinker, philosopher, political theorist and composer of the Age of Enlightenment, whose treatise

The phlosopher in the French sense of the eighteenth century was not the kind of person who is called a "philosopher" today.

Rousseau, however, had as powerful an influence on philosophy as on academic tastes, fashions and politics.Looking at him as a thinker, no matter how we evaluate his merits and demerits, we must admit that he has a very important position as a social force.

This important status mainly comes from his ability to move emotions and move what was then called "sentimental xng".He is the father of the Romantic movement.

The founder of the school of thought that judges facts beyond the scope of human beings from human emotions is also the inventor of the mn zhuu political philosophy that is contrary to traditional monarchs.

From Rousseau's time onwards, those who considered themselves reformers have been divided into two factions, those who followed him and those who followed Locke.

Sometimes the two factions cooperate, and many people do not see any incompatibility. But gradually their incompatibility became apparent. At present, Hitler is a result of Rousseau, Roosevelt and Churchill are the results of Locke.

Rousseau's biography is described in great detail in his "Confessions", but there is no die-hard respect for facts. He takes pleasure in representing himself as a great sinner, and often exaggerates in this regard.

There is, however, abundant external evidence that he lacks all common morality. This incident did not trouble him, for he thought he had always had a tender heart, but tenderness never prevented him from doing mean things to his best friend.

When Rousseau used the term political, he meant the direct political system of the ancient city-state.It is pointed out that this mn zhu system can never be fully realized, because the civil law is always gathered and always busy with official duties.

"If there were citizens made of gods, their government would belong to mn zhu. Such a perfect government is not something human beings should do."

What we call mn zhu politics is called "electoral aristocratic politics". He said it is the best of all regimes, but it is not suitable for all countries.

Afterwards it must be neither very hot nor very cold, nor should there be more than is necessary, for if there is too much, the vice of luxury is inevitable, and it is better for this vice to be confined to the prince and his court than to pervade the whole people.

These limitations leave a wide sphere of existence for the regime. However, the mn zhu politics it advocates, with all kinds of restrictions, is of course one of the reasons why the French government hates this book so much.

Another reason seems to be the denial of kingship. The oracle theory, because the theory of social contract as the origin of politics implies the denial of the divine accreditation of kingship.

The Social Contract became the bible of most of the leaders of the French Revolution, and of course, like the Bible, many of its adherents did not read it carefully, let alone understand it.

This book recreates metaphysical abstractions among mn zhu political theorists and, through the theory of the general will, enables a mysterious identity between the leader and his people.

This does not need to be proved by the specificity of throwing it into the world. There is much in its philosophy that the u system can exploit in its defense.
