The actual equivalent wavelength of ArF light source plus immersion technology is 193nm/1.44=134nm, so that we can directly obtain 65nm processing accuracy at this wavelength.
On this basis, through multiple refraction improvements, ArF lithography machines can be used for processes from 45nm to 10/7nm, but their limit is at the 7nm node and cannot go any further.
To improve the accuracy of lithography machines above this, a new EUV extreme ultraviolet light source must be used. EUV lithography machines use extreme ultraviolet light with a wavelength of 13.5nm to reach the level of 5nm/3nm or even 1nm.
For these new technologies to be implemented in engineering, many basic theories must be overcome.
In this regard, Ren Zhong, a liberal arts student, couldn't understand the information at all.
According to Ren Zhong's idea, the work that the Academy of Sciences has to do is to analyze the production mechanisms of different light sources, and theoretically find out the generation principles of these special light sources such as 248 wavelengths and 193 wavelengths. After making theoretical breakthroughs first, the Academy of Engineering will find ways to realize these theories through practical and engineering and factory technology research.
