Less than 20 years after the victory of the War of Liberation, New China ushered in the most serious cultural destruction in Chinese history. The storm of destroying the four olds was caused by an editorial in People's Daily in 1966 - "Sweeping All Monsters and Snakes".

In this frenzy, students once again became the main force of the revolution.A large number of Red Guards composed of students, under the leadership of teachers from various Red Guard Battle Schools (after the rise of the Four Olds, schools, shops, and roads were all given such revolutionary titles), took important cultural relics, historical sites, books, calligraphy and paintings, etc. Inheritance is regarded as the top priority among the objects of "revolution".

They angrily stormed temples and historical sites, destroyed Buddha statues and antiques, searched and burned famous calligraphy and paintings, classical scriptures, and dug up tombs and imperial tombs.

Also in November of this year, ten middle school teachers from a certain place in Hunan led tens of thousands of Red Guards heroically into the Yandi Mausoleum!Within a day, the main hall of Yanling Mausoleum and its ancillary buildings were completely destroyed, and the mausoleum was dug up, all the contents were robbed, and finally all were razed to the ground!Among those ten teachers, there was one named Qian, who was my grandfather.

Speaking of grandfather, he was not a teacher at first, but made a living by restoring ancient artifacts in Beijing. He studied under Gong Maolin, and Gong Maolin's master is known as one of the Eight Eccentric Artists of the Qing Dynasty, Waizui Yu, who once worked in the Qing Palace Manufacturing Office, went out of the palace during the Revolution of [-], and relied on ancient artifacts near the Qing Palace Repaired for a living, and received seven disciples.

However, in a business transaction, my grandfather couldn’t put it down to an imperial copper-bodied painting enamel pot with yellow ground flowers. After much consideration, he finally decided to leave Beijing with this pot and return to his hometown Ling County, Zhuzhou. In order to make a living and be able to write, he became a Chinese culture teacher in a local middle school before the four olds were broken.Friends who play antiques should know how valuable this kind of pot is in modern times. In fact, whenever I think of this, I can't help crying, and I deeply feel how wise my grandfather was back then!

Grandfather not only became a teacher, but also became a Red Guard by a strange coincidence, but what fascinated him the most were the cultural relics and antiques buried in the ground. Therefore, when the Yanling Mausoleum was destroyed, my grandfather used all kinds of means, including robbery and deceit, to obtain many excavated ancient relics. On that day, my grandfather was so excited that he drank all night with five of the teachers!

With the burning of excavated ancient relics, the tide of "revolution" seems to have swept away from Ling County. When the high-spirited Red Guards pointed their fingers elsewhere again, strange things happened to the ten leading teachers that night. The first to bear the brunt was Wang Da, the oldest of the ten teachers.

After drinking that night, suddenly there was a strong wind and thunder, and dozens of bolts of lightning struck Ling County like a wild dragon. The children trembled and nestled in the arms of their parents, their frightened eyes fixed on Luyuanpo, west of the county seat.Because there, that is, the land of Yanling that was just destroyed today, is emitting a sky-high red light at this moment, and under the flickering and roaring of thunder and lightning, it paints the entire night into blood red!

Wang Da, who was already a little drunk, took advantage of the strength of the wine and ignored the dissuasion of his grandfather and others, put on a torn oilcloth, hummed a little revolutionary song, and sank into the night in high spirits. The few remaining people did not dare to get up and go home until the next day when the sky was bright.

But the wind, rain, thunder and lightning did not stop, and it lasted for three days day and night. When the dark clouds cleared and the thunder and lightning stopped for a while, people discovered in horror that the land for several miles around Yanling Mausoleum had turned blood red!The large tracts of trees in the mountains turned into charcoal in these three days!

Just when my grandfather was about to go to Yanling to find out the truth in fear, Wang Da's wife found her grandfather's house impatiently: "Xiaoqian, he hasn't come home for three (three) days! I just found out (today) that day. Let's drink (here) at night! You know where Wang Da is going!"

"Why do you have to go home!?" The grandfather looked at Wang Da's wife with a serious face, and he already expected that something bad happened in his heart, but he still said the truth: "Wang Da, he, he went home that night!"

"Oh——, you dead Wang Da, where did you go! You have a letter..." Dang even burst into tears at his grandfather's house.

The grandfather was in a hurry, and hurriedly persuaded Wang Da's daughter-in-law: "Sister-in-law is crying! It's important to find him first!"

After speaking, he went out with Wang Da's wife, and called a few people who were drinking together that night.Everyone searched back and forth many times on the way from grandfather to Wang's house, but they still didn't find a trace!

At this time, someone suddenly said: "He won't go to Yanling in a daze?"

At that moment, everyone didn't dare to delay any longer, and hurriedly ran towards Luyuan Slope. Before they reached Yanling, they were scared by the blood-red soil that suddenly appeared under their feet, and their legs trembled.Stepping on it, the water-filled ground was pressed out with a layer of faint water halo, which matched the color of the soil, like thick blood!
