Shepherd Boy's Fantasy Journey

Chapter 4 Introduction

Chapter 4 Introduction
The alchemist picked up a book brought by someone in the caravan. The book has no cover, but the author's name is recognizable: Oscar Wilde[1].While flipping through the book, he came across a story about daffodils.

Alchemists knew this legend about daffodils.A handsome young man went to the lake every day to appreciate his beauty. He was so infatuated with his appearance that one day he fell into the lake and drowned.Where he fell into the water, a flower grew, which people called Narcissus.

Oscar Wilde did not end his story this way.He wrote that after the boy Narcissus died, the goddess of the forest came to the lake and saw a lake of fresh water turned into a pool of salty tears.

"Why are you crying?" the goddess of the forest asked.

"I shed tears for Narcissus boy." The lake replied.

"We are not surprised that you shed tears for the Narcissus boy." The goddess of the forest said, "We always follow him and run in the forest, but only you have the opportunity to see his handsome face so clearly."

"Is the Narcissus boy beautiful?" asked the lake.

"Who else knows this better than you?" The Forest Goddess replied in surprise, "He is by your side every day."

The lake was silent for a while, and finally said: "I shed tears for the Narcissus boy, but I never paid attention to his appearance. I shed tears for him because every time he faced me, I could see the tears from the depths of his eyes. To see my own beautiful reflection."

"What a beautiful story!" the alchemist sighed.
