little Prince

Chapter 18

Chapter 18

When people want to say something witty, the words may not feel very real, I was not very honest when I told you about the lamplighter, and it may have caused mistakes for those who don't know me well understanding.Everyone occupies a very small place on Earth.Think about it, if the 20 billion inhabitants of the earth were all standing, standing next to each other as if they were in a meeting, then all of them could be squeezed into a square twenty kilometers square. That is to say, all the human beings on the earth can be concentrated on one of the smallest islands in the Pacific Ocean.

Of course, grown-ups won't believe what I say.

They think they need a big place and see themselves as big as a baobab tree. You can ask them to calculate the space they will take up and they will be happy.

Grown-ups love numbers and calculations, but we don't have to do this kind of calculations, trust me.

After the little prince arrived on the earth, he felt very strange. He didn't see anyone. "Could it be that I went to the wrong place?" The little prince thought.

At this time, he saw a silver ring wriggling like moonlight on the sand.

"Good evening." The little prince tried to greet the ring.

"Good night." The ring said, and the little prince looked carefully, and found that the ring was a silver snake.

"Do you know what planet this is?" asked the little prince.

"This is Earth and you are in Africa," replied the snake.

"Ah! How could this be? Could it be that there are no people on earth?"

"This is a desert, and there are no people in the desert. The earth is very big." said the snake.

The little prince sat on a stone next to him, looked up at the sky, and said, "I look at these stars every day, are they so bright that everyone who travels can find his way home. You see, that's my star, it's just above our heads, but, looking at it this way, it's so far away from us."

"It looks beautiful," said the snake, "such a beautiful planet, why did you leave it and come here?"

"I had a quarrel with a flower," said the little prince.

"Oh," said the snake.

So they both fell silent.

"Where are people?" The little prince began to speak again. "In the desert, I feel very lonely."

"Actually, you are just as lonely when you are in a place with people." The snake looked at the little prince and said.

The little prince stared at the snake strangely for a long time.

"You are a strange creature, as thin as a finger," said the little prince.

"Don't look at me, I'm more powerful than a king's finger," said the snake.

The little prince smiled and said: "You are not that powerful, you don't even have feet, you can't even walk and travel."

"However, I can take you farther than a boat can go." After the snake finished speaking, it crawled to the little prince's feet, entwined around the little prince's ankles, and looked Like a golden bracelet.

"Anyone I touch, I can send him back to his homeland," said the snake, "but you are pure and come from another planet. I cannot send you back."

The little prince said nothing.

"I pity you for being so weak on this planet of granite. If you miss your planet so much, I can help you. I can find a way to send you back."

"Oh! I understand what you mean," said the little prince, "but why do you speak like riddles? Can't you say it simply and directly?"

"But I can solve these riddles," said the snake.

Then again, they all fell silent.
