Chapter 12 The Flying Box
Once upon a time there was a merchant who was so rich that he could have covered an entire street and an alley with silver. But he wouldn't do that, because he'd have a lot of other things to do with the money. He made two dollars back for every dollar he invested. He is such a businessman who can make money! However, he died later.
After the merchant died, his son got all his money and lived a life of luxury and pleasure.Every night he went to the theater to spend a lot of money, and he used banknotes to make kites for playing. When he was happy, he threw gold coins instead of stones at the ducks in the water. In this way, his money was quickly squandered by him.
In the end all he had left was four pennies, a pair of slippers, and an old pajamas.
His friends ignored him, and they didn't even want to walk with him.
But a friend with a better heart gave him an old box.The friend said: "Put everything in the box!" The box was nice, but he had nothing to put it in, so he just got into it by himself.
This is a magical box, as long as you press the lock on the box, it will fly.He tried to press it, and there was a "chuck", and the box really flew up!The box flew him over the chimney, up into the clouds, higher and higher and farther away.Sometimes the box creaked, and he was terrified that it would break and he would fall in a tumble.God, it's scary to think about it.
Thus he came to the land of the Turks. He hid the box in the wood, covered it with many dead leaves, and went to the city.He didn't feel at all awkward wandering the streets, because all the Turks walked around in pajamas and slippers just like him.
He happened to meet a nanny with a child.
"How do you do, Turkish nanny," said he, "what's that big castle just outside the town for? Why are all the windows so high?"
"That's where the king's daughter lives!" she answered. "It was prophesied that a man who would court her would bring her great misfortune. Therefore, no one was allowed near her except the king and queen. By the princess' side."
"Thank you!" said the merchant's son. Then he went back to the wood, got into the box, flew up to the roof of the castle, and climbed through the window into the princess' chamber.
The princess is sleeping on the sofa, she is so beautiful! The young man couldn't help it, and kissed her.The princess woke up with a start, terrified. He hurriedly said that he was the god of the Turks, and he came to see her from the sky.Amazing! The princess believed it and became happy.
They sat side by side, and he told the princess how beautiful she was, how beautiful her eyes were like two clear lakes, and how charming her beautiful forehead was, how noble and charming she was!
Then he proposed to the princess, who immediately agreed.
"But you must come on Saturday," she said, "the king and queen will be here for tea. They will be very proud to know that I have a fairy husband. But you must be ready to listen." stories, because they all love stories. The queen mother likes fables, and the father likes funny humorous stories."
"No problem, I'll also bring a fairy tale to my bride," said the young man, and he left.Parting, the princess gave him a saber inlaid with many gold.
He flew away in the magic box, bought himself a new pajamas, and sat in the woods making up stories. It has to be compiled by Saturday, which is no easy feat.
It wasn't until Saturday that he finally finished the story.
The king, queen and important officials of the entire court drink tea with the princess.
They welcomed the young people very grandly!
"Now will you tell us a story?" said the Queen. "A thought-provoking and instructive story!"
"This story must make us laugh at the same time!" said the King.
"Oh, of course!" he replied, "I've begun to tell, and everyone should listen carefully! Once upon a time there was a box of matches lying between the tinderbox and the old iron kettle. The match told the story of its youth proudly. .
"'We were fir branches in green clothes when we were young. We drank dew tea every morning and evening, shining like diamonds, and listened to the birds telling us stories while we basked in the daytime. We Wealthy, the other trees only had clothes in the summer, and we had nice green clothes all year round. But then came the lumberjacks and tore our family apart. Now our task is to make fire for common people, That's why we of high birth have come down to the kitchen.'
"'My fate is different!' said the iron pot beside the match. 'I have been scrubbed and boiled for countless times since I came into this world. My only pleasure is to eat Afterwards, lie comfortably and clean in your own place, and chat with my companions.'
"'You babble too much,' broke in Tinderbox suddenly.
"'Yes, let's talk about who is noblest!' said the match.
"'No, I don't like to talk about myself,' said Iron Kettle. 'Let's have a good time tonight. I'll tell a story from my life. On the Baltic coast of Denmark—'
"'What a beautiful beginning!' said all the dishes in unison. 'We shall all like this story.'
"The story was told and ended as well as it began. The plates were happy and giggling.
"'Let me do a dance,' said the poker, and began to dance. Wow, how high in the air her long legs kicked! The old chair-cover couldn't sit still, and he jumped out of the chair slipped off.
"The coffee pot was supposed to sing too, but she said she had a cold and couldn't sing until it was boiling.
"There's an old quill on the window sill. She doesn't have much to show for it, but she has dipped deeply in ink once, and she's very proud of it.
"'If the coffeepot won't sing,' said the brush, 'there's a nightingale in a cage hanging outside, and it will sing very well.'
"'I think,' said the teapot, 'that it is inappropriate to hear such a foreign bird sing.'
"'Hey, why don't we put on a show,' everybody said, 'Come on, come on!'
"Suddenly the door opened and the maid came in, and everyone fell silent immediately. But they all knew what they could do and how great they were.
"The maid took the matches and started a fire. Wow, they made a roaring flame and crackled!
"'No,' thought Match, 'now everyone can see that we are the most important characters here! Look how we shine and how much light we bring to people!'
"But as soon as they said that they burned out."
"What a story it is!" said the Queen. "I can feel the emotion of matches in the kitchen. Well, you may marry our daughter."
"Yes, of course!" said the King, "you and our daughter will be married on Monday!" They already considered the young man a part of the family.
The day of the wedding was fixed. The night before the wedding, the whole city is brightly lit, and the party is all night long!Excited people thronged the streets, distributing bread and cakes in a sea of joy.The boys cheered loudly, played and played, and whistled and whistled from time to time! The scene was extremely lively and spectacular!
"Now I have to show them something!" thought the merchant's son.So he bought a lot of fireworks, firecrackers and all kinds of fireworks, put them in the magic box, and flew into the sky.
Wow, how beautiful it is!There are countless beautiful flowers blooming in the sky, each flower is competing to open, ever-changing, each one is so gorgeous, the whole night sky looks very beautiful under the reflection of fireworks!
People were extremely excited amidst the bursts of fireworks and firecrackers. They were cheering and jumping in the ocean of joy, and they kicked off the slippers on their feet with excitement! They have never seen such a colorful and beautiful scene!
So people believed even more that the one who married the princess was indeed a fairy.
The merchant's son went back to the woods with the box and thought, "Now I'm going to see how people react to my fireworks display?"
Of course, it was only natural for him to want to do this.
Oh, how well people speak!
He asked a lot of people, and although everyone's opinions were not the same, they all thought his fireworks display was very beautiful.
"I saw the fairy with my own eyes," said one, "whose eyes were like shining stars, and whose beard was as white as foam from the surf."
"He flies in a flaming cloak," said another. The words he heard were all pleasant and good.Oh, I'm getting married to the beautiful princess tomorrow! The young man was very happy.
So he went back to the woods and was about to sit in the box, but where did the box go?God, the box burned!Sparks from the fireworks ignited the box, reducing it to a heap of ashes. He could no longer fly, nor could he marry his bride.
The princess stood on the roof all day long, waiting for the young man to marry her, and perhaps she is still watching there now.
But he wandered around the world, telling stories to people everywhere. But there's never been a better story than the one about the matches.
