Gen up and down
Gen, if you carry your back, if you don't get your body, if you walk in your court, if you don't see your person, there is no blame.

"Xu Gua Zhuan" said: "Things cannot stop moving and stop, so when they receive it, they will stop."

The hexagram shape of the Gen hexagram is opposite to that of the Zhen hexagram. It is a "comprehensive hexagram". "Gen" means violation, and its extended meanings include stop, resentment, and hardness, such as hatred that violates the heart, restriction that is difficult to do, hardship that is distressed, and silver that is hard, etc., here it means stop.

Gen hexagram, one yang is above the two yin, and the yang has risen to the extreme, so it stops.In addition, the hexagram Gen is a yang, and at the top of the hexagram Kun, which symbolizes the earth, it is the image of a mountain, and it also has the meaning of stopping.

The least moving static part of the human body is the back.The back is still, and the body cannot move even if it wants to. It is used as a metaphor for inner peace and not being moved by external objects.If you don't act rashly, even in the action, you can still keep the inner peace, and you can reach the state of ecstasy.When you reach this state, your heart will not be moved by any stimuli from the outside world, so you will not feel that there are people when you walk through a courtyard with people.Being able to maintain peace in the heart regardless of movement or stillness like this is bound to be rational and calm, to be able to stop when enough is enough, and there will be no disasters.

The pure hexagrams with the same upper and lower hexagrams, such as other hexagrams such as "Zhen", "Kan", "Xun", "Li", and "Dui", all have some of the four virtues of Yuan, Heng, Li, and Zhen. Only the Gen hexagram, Not at all, just saying that there is no blame; because it has reached the state of forgetting both people and me.

This hexagram is full of Lao Zhuang's evasive thoughts.However, Confucians in the Song Dynasty highly praised this hexagram. Zhou Dunyi said: "The entire volume of the Lotus Sutra can be replaced by this hexagram Gen." Perhaps this is in line with the ethical thinking of abstinence in the Song Dynasty.

"彖" said: Gen.stop also.When the time stops, it stops, when the time goes, it goes, the movement and stillness do not lose the right time, and the way is bright.Bury it, stop it.The upper and the upper should respond to each other, but not with each other.Therefore, "If you don't get your body, if you walk in the court and don't see your person, there is no blame."

Gen means stop.Stop when you should stop, and act when you should do it. If you don't miss the right time, the future will be bright.The stop mentioned in Gen Gua is to stop at the place where it should stop. "University" says: "Stop at the best." Confucius said: "When you stop, you know where you stop." Respect, the son ends with filial piety, the father ends with kindness, and the relationship between people ends with trust; it can be cross-referenced with this "彖ci".This hexagram has the same shape as the upper and lower hexagrams. The yin line and the yin line, and the yang line and the yang line are all hostile to each other and cannot correspond to each other; so it is a state of selflessness. When walking through the courtyard, you will not lose sight of the people in the courtyard. No catastrophe.

"Xiang" said: "Jianshan, Gen; a gentleman can't think about its position. The Gen hexagram is two mountains overlapping, steady and still. A gentleman should imitate this spirit and stop where it should stop. Thinking should not exceed the duty." .

Sixth day: Gen Qitoe, no blame, Li Yongzhen.

"Xiang" said: "Gen Qizhi", it is not out of order. "Junior Sixth" is the lowest position, which is equivalent to the toes.When a person is acting, the toes are the first to move, so if the toes are stopped, the action will stop before it happens, there will be no inappropriateness, and there will be no disasters.But the "sixth day" yin line is weak, so it is inevitable that it will not be able to stick to the right way for a long time.Therefore, it is warned that only by sticking to the right path for a long time can it be beneficial.

This line shows that stopping should be done before the action starts, so that it will not be inappropriate.

Sixty-two: Gen Qifei, if he does not save his followers, his heart will be unhappy.

"Xiang" said: If you don't save your followers, you won't quit listening. "Philo" is the calf, and "[-]" is in the middle of the next hexagram, which is equivalent to the calf.

The main line of the next hexagram is "Jiu San", which is equivalent to the waist. The waist takes the initiative to move, and the legs follow the waist; so "Six Two" is compared with "Philippine". "Six Two" is supple and upright, while "Nine Three" is rigid and rigid, too strong and extreme. "Jiu Er" wanted to save "Jiu San", but he lacked feminine strength, so he had to reluctantly follow him: "Jiu San" didn't listen to his advice and went on his own way. Of course, "Jiu Er" would not be happy in his heart.That is to say, when the position of the minister is stopped, the monarch does not listen to his advice, but has to follow it, which makes him unhappy. "Xiang Zhuan" said: This is because the "Nine Thirds" cannot take a step back and obey.

This line shows that you should stop and follow others reluctantly, and you will not be happy.Ninth Three: Generating its limits, listing its values, and emphasizing the heart.

"Xiang" said: "Gen Qizhi", the danger of "smothering the heart". "Limit" is the boundary, the upper and lower boundaries of a person, at the waist. "夤" is the meat of the back, and "Lie" is the original character for crack. "Nine three" is just the boundary of the upper and lower hexagrams, which is equivalent to the waist. It is rigid and rigid, but not in the middle. It is too strong and extreme, and violently stops at the waist, making the waist unable to bend and stretch.Above the waist is the muscles of the back, and "Jiu San" is horizontally placed in the middle of the four yin lines.That is to say, "[-]" cannot live in harmony with the upper and lower, left and right people, so that the upper and lower will rebel, and the left and right will break up.This line shows that the stop is not proper, so that the people betray their relatives.

June [-]: Burden your body, no blame.

"Xiang" said: "Gen Qi body", stop all bows. "[-]" is equivalent to the waist, and "[-]" is the body part above the waist.

The heart is in the body cavity and is the central hub that controls all actions. The yin position of the "June [-]th" line is correct, so it means that you stop at the place where you should stop, you can control yourself, and you don't move rashly, so there is no disaster.

This line shows that you should know the opportunity, restrain yourself, and stop when enough is enough.Sixth Five-Year: Gen Qifu, speaking orderly, regretting death.

"Xiang" says: "Gen Qifu" means to be neutral.

"Auxiliary" is the joint of the jaw. "Six Five" is above the hexagram, which is equivalent to the joint of the jaw and is the organ of speech. If the "Sixth Five-Year Plan" is not correct, there should be regrets, but if we succeed, we should stop at the joints of the noise, and speak in a clear and orderly manner, so as to eliminate the worrying regrets.That is to say, be careful with your words.You can avoid regret.

This line shows that speech should be enough.Upper Nine: Dun Gen, Ji.

"Xiang" said: "Dun Gen"'s "auspiciousness" ends with thick. "Shangjiu" is the uppermost yang line that overlaps the Gen hexagram, that is, the ultimate end of cessation. Everything ends here, so we must be more cautious and honest.A person's integrity tends to degenerate in old age, and his studies tend to be neglected when his studies are nearing the end. Therefore, the last persistence is the most important.

【Meaning】Restrict at the right time——do it according to the circumstances, stop when enough is enough.

[Gua Yi] To stop, to restrain, to stop, to stop.

[Introduction] Contrary to the "shock" of the previous hexagram, the meaning of the hexagram is also completely opposite. "Zhen" means movement, and there are constant thunders, but "Gen" means a mountain that remains unmoved.Meditate, don't act rashly.If you advance too hastily, you will encounter disasters that will arise one after another. The lines in the hexagrams do not correspond to each other. You cannot expect helpers, and you need to have the awareness to open up your own path.At the same time, it is most important not to be dependent, to work hard, and to maintain the current position and situation. "Gen" is the same as "Jia" and "Xian". It takes each part of the body as an example, gradually rising from the feet to the head.

[Gua Yi] The upper hexagram Gen, the lower hexagram Gen.Gen means that one yang is above two yin, which means that the yang has reached the upper extreme and stops and cannot move forward, which symbolizes a stop.The Gen hexagram expounds that in the process of life development and career, one should master the decision-making principles of stopping at the right time and restricting appropriately.

[Structural model] Stop at the ultimate good, stop at words and deeds, stop when it is appropriate, stop when it is improper, stop when it should be stopped, stop action, gen (stop still).

[Yin and Yang] four yin and two yang.

[Position] Yin in one line and five lines in line with Yang is not right.The six-yao yang occupies the wrong yin position, while the two-yao, four-yao, and three-yao yin and yang are in the right position.

[Status] Reasonable and calm, enough is enough.

[Hexagram Image] Gen is a mountain, and the upper and lower hexagrams are Gen, and the two mountains overlap, indicating that you can't move forward and should stop temporarily.The image shows a poised stillness.Gen also said that one yang is above the two yin, and the yang has reached the top, and there is also a sign of stopping.

【Thinking mode】Gen hexagram expounds the principle that things should be still and suspended for a certain period of time.The extremes of things will be reversed, the extremes of movement will be quiet, and the movement of any thing must be stopped in moderation.But stillness should follow several principles: (1) When you stop and stop, don't lose the right time. (2) From moving to stopping, stop at the key part first. (3) From moving to stopping, attention should be paid to short-term discomfort. (4) Make perfect use of static functions.

[Philosophical Enlightenment] The extremes of things will be reversed, and the extremes of movement will be static, explaining the static principle of things.It enlightens people to have certain restrictions in the development of life and career.When there is movement, then there is movement, when there is stillness, then there is stillness, and if there is no opportunity for movement or stillness, then the future is bound to be bright.

[Decision-making thinking] When you do it, you do it, when you stop it, you stop, the old one slowly decays and stops, the new one gradually begins, every movement and one stillness, mutual use, self-restraint in everything, wait for movement with stillness, keep quiet in your heart, and never change to act rashly.Deal with problems without going beyond the scope of the job.Watching and moving with stillness can make thoughts and actions appear calm and composed, appear restrained, handle things in a step-by-step manner, and make interpersonal relationships tend to be stable.You can also learn, cultivate and reflect on yourself when you are not moving forward, so as to lay a solid foundation for future progress.
