Wentang

Chapter 748 Mysterious Dress

Chapter 748 Mysterious Dress
"Xuanzang pays homage to Xia Guogong, Mr. Wugong." Xuanzang clasped his hands together from a distance.

"Hello Master Xuanzang." Yue Shan and Wang Ji also got up and saluted.Facing a great master of Buddhism like Xuanzang, the two of them still have respect.

Even after they both saluted, Gao Yang and Fang Yiai couldn't just stand there carelessly, so they also saluted. Then he began to secretly look at this legendary monk.

The first impression is Jun, different from Bian Ji's gentleness, this one is handsome and full of masculinity.

Yue Shan was also very surprised by his change. When he first met him, he gave off a gentle and refined feeling. Now he is more like a Samana Dharma Protector than a Buddhist master.

But if you think about his experience, you will know why. This is all tempered on the road of learning the scriptures.

Xuanzang was also observing Yueshan, saying, "It's been a year since we left, and seeing Duke Xia today is even more beautiful than in the past."

Yue Shan praised: "Master is even more admirable, and congratulations on getting your wish fulfilled."

With Xuanzang's xinxing cultivation base, the smile on his face couldn't stop a little more: "Fortunately, thanks to the blessing of the Buddha, I also want to thank Lord Xia for his guidance back then. How about sitting in my backyard?"

Yue Shan said: "The guest is up to the host."

"Please."

"Please."

Gao Yang poked Fang Yiai from behind, and kept winking at him.Fang Yiai didn't dare to go against her wishes, and said in a jerky way: "That...Dean, we won't go in, shall we?"

What should be said has been said, there is no need to drag them over together, Yue Shan said: "Okay, you two go back if you have nothing to do, remember what I just said, go home and think about it."

Fang Yiai said with a happy face: "Here, I will definitely reflect on it when I go back." After finishing speaking, she was about to leave, but before she lifted her foot, she felt kicked on her leg.

You don't need to ask him to know who did the good deed, and even know the purpose of her kicking him, and said with a smile:
"Both my father and my mother are worshipers of the Buddha, and they respect the Great Master very much. I would like to ask you for a Buddhist scripture. I don't know if it is possible."

Xuanzang said with a smile: "It's a poor monk's honor to be valued by the housekeeper, so I will take two copies of the Diamond Sutra and the Prajna Heart Sutra for the two benefactors."

"Here." Bian Ji took the order, and said to Fang Yiai: "You two benefactors, please come with me."

Fang Yiai quickly thanked and said: "Thank you, Master, for your mercy." Then the young couple followed Bian Ji to the direction of the main hall.

Only then did Yue Shan and the others come to the inner courtyard under the guidance of Xuanzang. At his request, Xuanzang first showed them the retrieved scriptures.

A huge room is filled with dense bookshelves, and stacks of books are placed on them. Most of them are written on leaves, and a few are copied on cloth.

"The scriptures transcribed on the bay leaves were all hand-copied by eminent Indian monks, and most of the scriptures on the cloth were copied by me. They are divided into 810 scriptures..."

"Now I have only translated the Prajna Heart Sutra, and the rest of the scriptures still need time to translate." Xuanzang introduced.

Yue Shan said in admiration: "People are mortal, and only knowledge shines forever, illuminating the long river of history and guiding mankind to a more distant future. These are the most precious treasures of a civilization, and the great master's merits are immeasurable."

Xuanzang moved his face and said, "Amitabha, what Duke Xia said is very kind."

Wang Ji also said excitedly: "That's right, it is precisely because we have inherited the experience and knowledge left by our ancestors that our Chinese civilization can create today's brilliance."

"And we write books and biographies, isn't it just to leave a mark of our era for future generations. I want to write down this sentence and engrave it on the stone tablet in the academy for everyone to see."

……

After visiting the study room, everyone came to the gazebo in the courtyard to sit down and chat.

Most of the questions were asked by Yue Shan and Wang Ji, while Xuanzang recounted what he had seen and heard on the westward journey.

When talking about Gao Changguo, Wang Ji suddenly said: "Ju Wentai died two years ago, did you hear the news?"

Xuanzang said sadly: "The benefactor Ju is a person who sincerely worships the Buddha, and he also has the grace to know and encounter the little monk. Back then we made an appointment to meet in Chang'an when I returned from learning the scriptures. I didn't expect to hear about his death again."

Wang Ji said with a look of regret: "If the master came back a few years earlier, he might be able to persuade him not to go astray. In this way, Gaochang Kingdom can continue to exist, and he doesn't have to die."

Xuanzang was silent for a while before replying: "One drink and one peck is determined by God, and it cannot be done by human beings. This is the life of the benefactor."

Wang Ji added: "On the other hand, maybe the master should be glad that he came back two years late, so that he doesn't have to be caught in a dilemma."

Yue Shan shook his head secretly, what Wang Ji said was not polite at all.Ju Wentai rebelled against the Tang Dynasty and colluded with the Turks. Two years ago, the imperial court sent Cheng Yaojin and Xue Wanjun to lead an expedition of [-] troops.

As in history, Ju Wentai died in fear. The Tang Dynasty destroyed Gaochang State to open up the passage to the Western Regions, and established Gaochang Road on the former site of Gaochang State, officially bringing the Turpan Basin into the territory of the Tang Dynasty.

And set up the Protectorate of the Western Regions here, and began to operate the Western Regions.

Closer to home.

If Xuanzang came back two years early, what would he do if he faced Ju Wentai who was kind to him and became his brother?Supporting Ju Wentai is betraying Datang, and supporting Datang is ungrateful.

Wang Ji's words were mocking Xuanzang.

Xuanzang was not angry, but expressed his feelings in one sentence: "The sages said that you can't have both fish and bear's paw, and you can give up the fish and take the bear's paw."

Yue Shan's eyes lit up, he had a little sense of Xuanzang's inner thoughts. But that was not enough, and went on to ask:

"Buddha Shakyamuni founded Buddhism based on the customs and customs of Tianzhu. However, Tianzhu and Tang Dynasty are very different, and Buddhism cannot be completely applied to Tang Dynasty. If there is a conflict between the two, I don't know what the master said?"

Wang Ji also stared at him closely, waiting for his answer.

This time Xuanzang was silent for a long time, and it took a while before he said firmly: "The sage said, three people must have my teacher, choose the good ones and follow them, and change the bad ones."

Wang Ji smiled with satisfaction.

Yue Shan also smiled and said: "The words of the master greatly comfort my heart."

Xuanzang said the Buddha's name: "Amitabha."

After Yue Shan laughed, he asked solemnly: "To promote Buddhist ideas, one must first translate Buddhist scriptures. How is the master going to translate these scriptures?"

Xuanzang replied: "Buddhists all over the world have recommended nine monks who are profound in Buddhism and understand Sanskrit to assist me in translating these scriptures. The Bianji you saw just now is the disciple of Master Daoyue, who is in charge of Puguang Temple."

Yue Shan said: "Eight hundred scriptures, ten of you may not be able to translate all of them in your lifetime. The master is an eminent monk, and it is of greater use to our Chinese civilization, the Tang Dynasty, and even the common people in the world. Among the scrolls, it's too wasteful."

Xuanzang replied: "The process of translating scriptures is also an opportunity for in-depth study of Buddhism. I will select outstanding buddhist rising stars to learn to translate scriptures together. When they have learned something, they should be able to undertake the important task of translating scriptures." .”

Yue Shan said approvingly: "That's right, Master is a sensible person, and cultivating young talents is the long-term way."

Xuanzang said: "I don't dare to do it. I was also inspired by your act of founding an academy."

Yue Shan asked another sharp question: "Can you really convince other Buddhists to translate Buddhist scriptures according to your own ideas and promote the Buddhist teachings in your heart?"

Xuanzang shook his head and said, "I don't know what method Xia Guogong can teach me?"

Yue Shan said: "No one from the Buddhist family has entered the Shrine of the Sages. In a few days, you can recommend Shakyamuni Buddha to enter as a Buddha saint."

Xuanzang was not happy, but asked, "Who's on the list?"

Yue Shan looked at him and said seriously: "If you agree with Lao Tzu's transformation of Hu, you can be listed with Confucius. If you don't agree, you can be listed with Mo Sheng."

Xuanzang remained silent again. If he recommended the Buddha to be enshrined in the Shrine of the Sages, he would be able to establish his status in the world in one fell swoop. No monk can compare with him.

As for being high and low, it's not that important.

However, Yue Shan is not a good man and a faithful woman, so he must ask for such a big benefit, the greater the benefit, the greater the request. He wondered if he could afford that price.

Yue Shan could roughly guess what he was thinking, and added: "Incorporating the place where the Buddha was born and enlightened into the land of the Tang Dynasty, I guess it should be the highest achievement of all the Buddhists in the Tang Dynasty."

Xuanzang was stunned and looked at Yue Shan in disbelief, the impact of these words on him was too great.Incorporate the birthplace of Buddha into the territory of Tang Dynasty? This is something he never thought about.

Wang Ji didn't look surprised at all, even if Yue Shan told him that he wanted to rule the world, he didn't find it strange. After all, having seen the globe with his own eyes, he knew Yue Shan's long-term plan very well.

Without waiting for him to speak, Yue Shan continued, "Let me tell you a story about the Green Sect, the Jewish Sect, the Christian Sect, and the City of Jesus."

So he talked about the relationship between these three religions and Jerusalem, and focused on describing the crazy things they did for this holy place.

Of course, most of these things haven't happened yet.But it doesn't matter, as long as he expresses what he wants to convey.

Sure enough, Xuanzang's eyes seemed to have changed a little after listening.Muttered in his mouth: "Holy land, holy city, pilgrimage..."

After a long time, Xuanzang's expression suddenly calmed down, and he clasped his hands together and said, "Amitabha, when I was traveling west, Xia Guogong once said that I should record all the customs and experiences along the way."

"It's just that the time is short and the book has not yet been written. Xia Guogong might as well wait a little longer, and I will hand it over to you after I organize the experience of this trip into a book, so as to fulfill the promise of the year."

"Haha..." Yue Shan laughed loudly: "The master will definitely become the second sage of my Tang Buddhist school."

"Amitabha." Xuanzang called out the Buddha's name again as a reply.

If it is said that he believed in the Buddha at the beginning, then he has seen a lot of suffering in the world after traveling thousands of miles west, and after undergoing ascetic training, his thoughts have changed. Now he believes in the thoughts of Buddhism.

Translating Buddhist scriptures is no longer his main pursuit. He has the same idea as Confucianism, Taoism and Law, to educate all living beings.

Use Buddhist thoughts to solve various spiritual sufferings in the world, and find a harbor for the "heart".As for whether there is a real Buddha, it doesn't matter, or the Buddha is in the heart.

To educate sentient beings, there must be complete Buddhist scriptures, and these scriptures must be translated, which creates a contradiction.

Translating Buddhist scriptures leaves no time to do other things, and doing other things leaves no time to translate Buddhist scriptures.

This requires the help of the entire Buddhist family, but the Buddhist family is not monolithic.Regardless of the fact that everyone is promoting him now, the purpose is to use his influence to benefit everyone.

Once he can't do this, he will be abandoned soon.

The work of translating Buddhist scriptures should also not be handed over to others, because what is translated will not be what he intended to express.

Therefore, he must personally watch over the translation of Buddhist scriptures, or cultivate a group of like-minded people to take over the work. This frees him up to do other things.

This means that he must have greater influence, overwhelm people with different opinions, and become the true leader of Buddhism.Just like Yue Shan's status in the literary world.

It's just that he only has a reputation but no foundation, and it is difficult to achieve this.It takes at least ten years to cultivate one's own power, but there are several decades in one's life.

Yue Shan provided him with a shortcut, and he came forward to recommend Sakyamuni Buddha into the Shrine of Saints.

This is something that hundreds of millions of Buddhists dare not even think about. If he can do it, he will definitely become the No.1 in the true sense, not the No.1 elected by others.

With this influence, he can attract a large number of followers and shorten the time for cultivating influence.

But there is still a shackle in his desire to promote Buddhist thought, that is, the Buddha is a foreigner after all, and he will inevitably be rejected by scholars.

You are okay as a religion, but if you want to intervene in the education of all living beings, you are looking for a beating.

Yue Shan gave him another solution.

Incorporating the place where Shakyamuni Buddha was born and enlightened into the land of Tang Dynasty, all problems will be solved naturally.

That place is the land of my Tang Dynasty, and it has been since ancient times.Lao Tzu came here once when he was traveling west, and he also pointed out Shakyamuni Buddha...

And if he can push Datang to do this, then he will become a hero of Datang and the highest Buddha in Buddhism after Sakyamuni Buddha.

At that time, if he wants to use Buddhist ideas to participate in educating sentient beings, there will be almost no resistance.

However, there is no such thing as pie in the sky, Yue Shan suddenly gave him so many benefits, he must have something to ask for, and the request is very big.

Moreover, he can guess what Yue Shan is looking for, and bring Buddha into the Chinese civilization system and become a part of the Chinese civilization.

He does not reject this point.

He has no problem with his identity. First, he is a descendant of the Tang Dynasty, and then he is a Buddhist.

He traveled thousands of miles to Tianzhu to learn Buddhist scriptures because he felt that there was a problem with the current system of the Tang Dynasty, and wanted to learn from the experience of other civilizations, and then make the Tang Dynasty better.

If he didn't have this idea, he wouldn't go to Tianzhu to learn Buddhist scriptures, and he wouldn't come back from Tianzhu. You must know that he is known as a great sage in Tianzhu, and he is a guest invited by various countries.

Moreover, there are countless original Buddhist scriptures there. There are eminent monks exchanging Buddhist teachings, and the life is very nourishing. It is much more comfortable to stay there than to come back.

But he still came back without hesitation, because he is from Tang Dynasty, no matter how good Tianzhu is, it is a foreign land. Therefore, he has no opinion on incorporating Buddhism into the Chinese civilization system.
