Chapter 12 How to Prepare and Use Alum Fertilizer Water
Flowers have certain requirements on soil pH (pH value). All flowers that require a pH value below 7 are called acid-loving soil flowers. Most of the flowers native to the south, such as jasmine, gardenia, rhododendron, camellia, osmanthus, Milan, michelia, etc., are all acid-loving flowers. If these flowers are planted in alkaline soil in the north, or often watered with alkaline water, the leaves will turn yellow and fall, and severe cases will die.Potted flowers that love acidic soil are often watered with alum and water, which can turn the yellow leaves into green, and the branches and leaves will be luxuriant and strong, and they will grow well.

Prepare alum fertilizer

Ferrous sulfate (black alum), dried manure, cake fertilizer and water are mixed in a ratio of 1:3:5:100, and fermented in a vat to become a black-green liquid, which is alum fertilizer water. If there is no dry manure, it can be replaced with cake fertilizer. When applying, take 1 part of the stock solution, add 20-30 parts of water as top dressing, and apply it 1-2 times a week to make the leaves of the plant dark green and grow strong.Ferrous sulfate is not necessarily used for some potted flowers with dark green leaves and no lack of acidic soil, as well as roses and pomegranates that like neutral soil.Alum fertilizer water is mainly suitable for the vigorous growth period of flowers and trees, and it is not suitable to apply more in other periods.Otherwise, it is easy to cause the flowers to suffer from fertilizer damage.Research results in recent years have shown that while watering alum fertilizers at intervals, watering 0.1% to 0.2% potassium dihydrogen phosphate solution alternately can cure the yellowing of potted flowers and prevent potted soil from alkalization. At the same time, potassium dihydrogen phosphate also contains phosphorus and potassium elements, which is beneficial to the differentiation of flower buds and the quality of flowers.
