Meditation I
Chapter 15
Chapter 15
It is your duty to order everything in your words and deeds; and if you have done your best in every deed, then of course you are satisfied; and no one can stop you when you have achieved this basic object. —but some external thing might get in the way. When you are doing something impartially, seriously and thoughtfully, nothing can stand in your way. —However, there may be some positive force in it that is hindered. ——As long as you face the resistance calmly and are willing to do your best to shift your focus to the righteous thing, then there will still be another ray of hope, and the resistance in front of you will go away. This is an example of what we just said, self-adjustment.
In accepting wealth or success, do not be arrogant; and, be prepared to leave you at any moment.
If you've ever seen a severed hand, or foot, or a severed head, the body parts just detached from the body and lying on the ground, that's the sad end of people who are dissatisfied with what happened to them. They often betray relatives and do anti-social evil deeds. If what you have done has cut you off from the natural whole world—the world that made you and of which you were always a part—now you are cut off from it. —Even at this point, there is still a good grace, just to bring yourself back into the whole again.God has not bestowed this magical power on other species, and after being separated from the whole, it cannot be reunited to its original state. However, God always has a special benevolent heart towards man, a spiritual being, so that man can always maintain a connection with the universe as a whole; And regain his status and share.
Since the nature of the universe has already endowed every rational being with the powers he possesses, we also have this power. The nature of the universe is already in its preordained place to change and correct all things that stand in the way or oppose it, and finally make such things a part of itself. The rational animal, therefore, also transforms every disadvantage into another which can be used by him, and uses the nature of this disadvantage to achieve a definite end.
Don't be disturbed by imagining your whole life.Don't let your thoughts involve all possible distresses. You might as well ask yourself on every occasion, what is unbearable and unbearable? You'd be ashamed to admit it.Second, remember: neither the future nor the past can bring you pain, it is the present moment that can bring you pain. But this pain is quite negligible, so long as you try to avoid it; and if you can't even do that, then scold your mind.
Can you see Panser or Pergamus next to Veles' tomb now?Can Jonaus or Diotimus be seen next to Hadrian's tomb? It's just ridiculous. So even if they are still there, can the dead know?Would they be happy if the dead really had knowledge?Even if they were very happy about it, wouldn't that make them immortal? These people will eventually become old men and women and die one after another. Isn't this an arrangement of fate?So what difference does it make for people who die later than these people? All are foul-smelling, bleeding skins.
The philosopher said that if you can observe sharply, you can judge wisely.
In the spiritual world of rational animals, I do not see any virtue that is contrary to justice; what I see is a virtue that is completely opposite to the love of pleasure, that is, abstinence and self-denial.
If you abstain from the view that brings you pain, then your ego can be completely secured. - Who is the "self"? —is reason itself. —But I am not rational myself. ——That's it.Or let reason itself not bother itself. But if other parts of you are suffering, let it express its feelings.
Sensory impairment is a misfortune to animal nature. Moreover, impulsive (desire) disorder is also a misfortune to animal nature. There is also a certain dysfunction and misfortune with the plant entity. The dysfunction of the understanding, therefore, is also a misfortune to the nature of the intellect. So, please apply these principles to yourself.Does pain or pleasure affect you?The senses take note of these. Is there anything holding you back when you are trying to achieve a certain goal?If you do make this kind of absolute effort (that is, make an unconditional or relentless effort), then you can be sure that this obstacle has constituted a misfortune for you, because you are a rational animal by nature. .But if you take the conventions of things into account, you are neither hurt nor hindered. At any rate, if a thing is especially proper to the understanding, no one can thwart it, neither fire nor iron nor tyrant nor insult. If it was molded into a star, it will remain a star.
It would be inappropriate to say that I myself inflict pain on myself, because I never intentionally inflict pain on others.
Your dominance is invincible
Different things make different people happy. What brings me joy is keeping my powers of dominance intact while not disconnecting from anyone and what happens to them, I like to see things with a welcome eye and embrace everything, and according to The value of things makes it work to its fullest.
You have to keep a close eye on yourself. For those who are obsessed with posthumous fame do not realize that the people after their death are exactly the same as those with whom they cannot identify now; both are mortal. So, what does it mean to you that those people behind you make this or that sound, have this or that evaluation?
Put me wherever I please; for there I can keep the nature in me still and calm, that is, content, as long as it perceives and acts according to its own nature. Is there any good reason for this change to make my soul more unhappy, depressed, arrogant, withdrawn, and fearful than it was before? Can you find a good reason for it to do so?
What happens to a man must belong to what is possible only to a man; what happens to an ox must also belong to the nature of an ox; As may be departed from what is in the nature of the vine, so what happens to a stone is quite in the nature of a stone. If what happens to everything is common and natural, why do you complain about others?Because, the nature of the universe will not bring you things that are not your nature.
If you are distressed by something external, it is not actually the thing that disturbs you, but your own value judgment about it.And right now, you are perfectly capable of dismissing that judgment. But if it is your own nature that causes you pain, who can prevent you from correcting your original views?Even if you're in deep pain because you didn't do something you should have done, why don't you just go and fix it right away instead of complaining? —but are there any insurmountable obstacles in your way? —Then please don't be sad about it, because the reason it cannot be done is not your own. ——However, if you can't do this, life is meaningless. —Then you may end your life without complaint, and like those who have achieved success, you should be happy about the things that stand in your way.
Remember: your dominance is invincible. If it doesn't do anything not of its own choice, then even if it resists instinctively out of pure stubbornness, it can still be calm and self-assured.What if it forms a value judgment and view of things with the help of rational logic and deliberation? Therefore, the soul freed from emotional control is like an impenetrable fortress, an impenetrable refuge even in the future.A man who does not understand this is surely a fool; but he who understands this does not immediately run to this fortress, he is unlucky.
Whatever is the first impression you see with your own eyes, stop guessing. If someone tipped you off that someone was speaking ill of you, let it go, because you were not harmed by it, and no one reported the harm.I see my child sick; but I don't see my child in danger. Therefore, you should still stick to the first impression you have seen with your own eyes, and don't add loads to your heart, so that nothing will happen to you.Don't bother yourself unless you know everything that's going on in the world.
This cucumber is bitter. —Then throw it away. —There are thorns in the walkway. — might as well take a detour. --that's enough.Don't make trouble again, and don't continue to ask why there are such things in this world? If you do, you will be ridiculed by those who know nature, as you will be ridiculed by the carpenter and shoemaker if you blame them for seeing shavings and scraps in their workshops. They have a place for these shavings and scraps, and the nature of the universe has no extra room; and the beauty of cosmic art is that, though it sets limits on itself, it can draw from what is given. Recreates something entirely new like it, and without the help of any external entity, much less a place of its own for dumping rubbish and waste. The universe is completely content with all of its space, including all of its physical content and the art of creation it possesses.
Don't be lazy in your actions; don't talk haphazardly; don't think wildly; don't let your soul get caught up in internal strife; and don't live so busy that you have no leisure.
Suppose someone were to kill you and dismember you, and curse you.Do these things affect your mind to be good, wise, calm and upright? For example, even if a man stood beside a clear and pure spring and cursed it, the clear spring would not cease to pour forth sweet water; Rinse off and don't get dirty with it.So how can you have that eternal spring in your heart instead of a tiny well?As long as you always combine yourself with inner contentment, simplicity and humility and gentleness and mold yourself into a free body.
People who don't know the true appearance of the world naturally have no way of knowing where they are.And those who don't know why the world exists will not know their true identity, nor will they know what the world really is.Those who cannot meet the above-mentioned requirements cannot even say what they are living for.So, how do you now see the difference between those who want nothing from people or compliments and those who want nothing but praise? And what do you think about people who don't know where they are or who they are?
Would you like to have the kind of person who blames himself three times an hour pay you compliments?Do you get joy from someone who hates you?Is it possible for a man who regrets everything he does to satisfy himself?
Not only do you need to align your breath with the air around you, but you also need to align your intellect with the intellect that encompasses all things in the world. For, to those who wish to use their intellect fully, as air is to those who need to breathe, it is equally distributed in all parts and pervasive in all things.
Generally speaking, evil will not harm the universe as a whole; it is worth mentioning that one person's evil will not harm others either.Evil will only harm the person who has evil in his heart, but as long as this person is willing, he can still gain the power to get rid of evil.
The free will of the man next to me is as irrelevant to my own free will as his feeble breath and frail body are to me.Because, although we were destined to support each other when we were created by the Creator, each of us has its own space for dominance, otherwise, the evil of the people around me will harm me, and the gods don't want to Let our respective misfortunes affect each other.
The sun's rays are pouring down, although the sunlight is scattered in all directions, but it is not the overflow of the sun's material itself.Because, this way of spreading sunlight is vertical and horizontal universal irradiation. Therefore, the rays of the sun are called universal rays because they are extended. If one carefully observes how sunlight passes through a small hole and enters a dark room, he can understand more deeply what kind of substance light is: it is scattered light shining in straight lines, But it may be stopped when it encounters something solid that blocks its way or cuts across the air. However, this beam of light still maintains its original stability, does not slip, and does not weaken its energy. Our understanding should also pour down and scatter in this way, but not an overflow of understanding itself, but an expansion. It will not crash violently when it encounters obstacles blocking the way.And it doesn't stop there, it just stays put and illuminates that thing. If an object does not accept it, then it cannot get light.
People who are afraid of death are either afraid of the loss of the original feeling, or they are afraid of having another completely different feeling. But you don't feel anything after death, and you certainly don't feel any pain; assuming you get another, different feeling, that would indicate that you're already a different organism, without terminating life.
People exist for each other. So teach others, be tolerant of others.
An arrow has the trajectory of the arrow, and the mind has the way the mind moves. But in fact, when the mind is thinking carefully or exploring hard, it is also heading towards the goal in a straight line like an archery.
Get to know everyone's rationality deeply, and at the same time let others deeply understand your rationality.
