Chapter 17 Everyone Is My Teacher

Chapter 17 Everyone Is My Teacher

I believe that many lamas, lay Buddhists, and disciples around me are the incarnations of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. They show mercy to the world to help me fulfill my practice and wish.

When I woke up early that morning, I felt that the morning light outside the window was extremely bright. When I woke up, it was snowing.

Tashi Chilin has little rain and snow this winter, and I secretly regret it.A disciple made a special trip up the mountain to take some pictures of the snow scene, but who knows, he didn't even see the shadow of snow.

Cong Da came in with a basin of charcoal that had been burned, ready to heat up the brazier in the house overnight. As if he knew what was on my mind, he said joyfully, "It's snowing!"

Congda is a diligent person, always has work in his eyes.No matter how cold it is, I get up early in the morning, and the courtyard is busy.It was not just dawn, and he had already delivered the chopped firewood to the door of every house inhabited by people.

Congda and I have known each other since childhood. When I was studying in Zhaxi Monastery, he was just a little boy less than ten years old. He was clever and cute. He sang sutras with a shrill voice among a group of older children every day. He was always the first one after class. One rushed out and couldn't wait to play.He is not the kind of obedient child, but he is very careful and seems to know how to take care of others by nature. If the room is a little messy, if he sees it, he can't help tidying it up while bouncing around.Sometimes I wonder if he doesn't realize he's tidying up the room, it's just a way of playing the game.

We studied together at Genrong Khenpo when we were teenagers, and later went to Larung Wuming Buddhist Academy together. For many years, he has been my sincere and generous student friend, helping me materially and encouraging each other academically.I was a few years older than him, and I was better at learning, so he regarded me as an extracurricular tutor, always asking me when he encountered problems in reading and thinking, and gradually I became his teacher. To be honest, until now I still feel that I should not teach him in many aspects, but I should learn from him.

Every time I go back to Tashi Chilin, seeing the orderly and continuous development here, I am sincerely grateful to Congda, Tenzin Nima and Dasen who helped me manage various affairs.Without their hard work and selfless dedication, Tashi Chilin would not be what it is today.

Congda and Tenzin Nyima are rare practitioners. In the past ten years, they have almost done their best for Tashi holding the forest. I often sigh to myself, I am afraid that the countless chores will delay their practice. However, they dispelled my concerns with actions.During the day, he was busy and did not practice for a long time, but he never left his hand with the rosary. He recited mantras continuously and continuously, and at night, he often worked hard all night long.

Tenzin Nyima has successfully recited the mantra of the deity 2004 million times since [-]. A few days ago, he happily told me that he hopes to recite it another [-] million times. In order to realize this wish, he asked himself to recite the mantra [-] times every day.His diligence is an inspiration to those around him, including me.When I slack off in my practice, Tenzin Nyima will always be a role model to encourage me to work hard.

Congda and Tenzin Nyima told me that when the Tashi Chi Lin was built, they would go to retreat and devote all their time to practice.

I don't know how I have cultivated the blessings to meet such loyal and good people as them and get their trust and help.

After the completion of the Tashi Chilin Nursing Home, many elderly widows and orphans lived here.Congda, Tenzin Nyima and Dasen Khenpo added another job: taking care of the daily life of the elderly.

Every time Congda and the others drive to the county seat, they always buy a lot of things for the old people, including everything they need to eat and use.In addition to educating and cultivating young lamas, Dasen Khenpo also gives lectures to lay people gathered in nursing homes every day, leading them to observe the eight precepts and practice the five precepts. Some old people are already 80 or [-] years old, but they still drag their bodies with limited mobility and insist on prostrating their heads and doing additional exercises, which is really touching and admirable!
Every day before dawn, Dasen Khenpo led the young lamas to start supplying water, offering lamps, and chanting scriptures.By the time most people wake up, they have already finished their morning lessons.

There is quite a distance between the water source of Tashi Chilin and the scripture hall, and the young lama needs to draw water back and forth to fill the hundreds of water bowls that are provided every day.In a freezing day like now, fetching water is a hard job, but the little lama does it happily and with all his heart every day.In the past, they got up earlier, young people were sleepy, Khenpo Dasen often knocked on their doors one by one to wake them up from their sweet dreams.Later, I suggested that everyone sleep a little longer in the morning, and some younger ones still needed Khenpo to wake them up.

Sometimes I also go to the scripture hall to do morning classes with them. They're always excited to have me on board.Compared with their peers, they are much more stable and reserved, but I can understand the shy smiles that cannot be concealed on the pure and young faces in the light and shadow of the ever-burning lamp.I was also like this when I was a child. I was always inexplicably excited in front of my master. I really wanted to show my best side to make my master happy, but I was too shy to know what to do, so I had to laugh.

Most of the young people like Tashi Chilin were born in poverty, and have tasted the hardships of life since they were young, so they cherish the opportunity to study now.Their longings and dreams, their happiness, enthusiasm and contentment and gratitude to life have all filled my young heart, and I understand them.Seeing that group of vigorous figures, I couldn't help but admire and be moved. It is they who always remind me to embrace every day with diligence and innocent enthusiasm, and to express my gratitude to life and all life without hesitation.

The real teacher of the little lama is Khenpo Dasen.Anyone who has been to Tashichi Forest will sigh how pure and solemn the little lamas here are. This delicate, gentle, humble and precious demeanor comes from the teachings of Khenpo Dasen.I can't imagine what these young people would have become without Dasen Khenpo.

The crackling of twigs in the hearth further accentuated the silence of the world outside.Snowflakes fluttered and fell silently.During the winter in Zhaxi Chilin, we rarely saw visiting Han monks, and the severe cold was quite a test. Not only did Han guests come here this year, but they were more diligent and enthusiastic in their practice than ordinary Tibetans.

Two devout lay Buddhists of the Han nationality vowed to make offerings to the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas by kowtowing on the first day of the Lunar New Year.Their sincerity must have touched the heaven and man. On this day, the flowers in the heaven were scattered and fell to the earth and turned into crystal snowflakes all over the mountains and plains. In the vast expanse of whiteness, I saw two kowtowed figures walking around the mountain one after the other, and my tears welled up.In terms of refinement, I am far behind them.

Speaking of the generosity and generosity of being a human being, the performance of many disciples also made me feel ashamed.A disciple was born in a poor rural family, and his mother died when he was six years old.The father was afraid that the children would be wronged, so he did not remarry, and worked hard to raise the children alone. This disciple was the youngest in the family, and his mother's untimely death made him feel more sad and uneasy than ordinary people.Loved by few people, he grew up slowly in loneliness like this, experiencing the hardships of life and the warmth and warmth of human relationships.

He was in his thirties when I first met him.Based on my first impression, I thought he was enjoying the blessings of the shade, and it was always smooth sailing. I never thought that a person who lost his mother's love since childhood and experienced such ups and downs would be so open-minded and kind, and treat others with joy and enthusiasm.

Once he accidentally lost his handbag outside, which contained tens of thousands of yuan in cash, the US visa he had just obtained and some important documents. The next day someone picked up his handbag on the side of the road. The cash was gone, but other items were still there. The kind-hearted man found his friend according to the phone number on the business card in the bag, and then found him.He was overjoyed, and he could not express his gratitude without giving tens of thousands of yuan to others.

When I mentioned this matter to me later, he said that even if he found something lost by someone else, even if he couldn’t afford to be greedy and want to keep it for himself, most people would not spend that much effort looking for the owner. It's nothing to do with him, so it's understandable to ignore it, so when the kind-hearted person found him, he was very moved. He was also very grateful to the first person who picked up the bag. Although the person took the money away, the documents and other documents remained intact, which showed that he did not intend to harm anyone.

This disciple is like this, no matter what the situation is, he always thinks well of others.Maybe he didn't get much love and care since he was a child, but he cherishes and appreciates the little kindness from others, and never forgets it.

Many people like to magnify the shortcomings and faults of others, and always feel that they have been treated unfairly. There are also some people, like this layman, who are good at magnifying the strengths and kindness of others, as if he has lived in a honeypot all his life, and he is so sweet that even himself They all feel ashamed and always want to share their happiness.During the Sichuan earthquake last year, he quietly donated a lot of money. If I hadn't asked, no one would have known about his charitable deeds except himself.

I believe that many lamas, lay Buddhists, and disciples around me are the incarnations of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. They show mercy to the world to help me fulfill my practice and wish.
