Grizzly King
Chapter 1 Prologue
Chapter 1 Prologue
With regret and expectation, I present to readers my second animal novel - "The Grizzly Bear King".What I confess is that people blindly hunt and kill, only to realize after many years that hunting in the wild is more thrilling and exciting than killing; what I hope is that the stories I tell can make readers realize The exciting thing is not hunting, but releasing.Of course, in the vast wilderness, people need to obtain meat to survive, so eating prey should not be regarded as a hobby of killing.
I often recall that incident in the mountains of British Columbia: I killed four grizzly bears in two hours - four lives in 120 minutes! This is just one of several instances where I now feel like a criminal—hunting for the thrill is almost tantamount to murder. The animal stories I write are insignificant, but I try to make amends. Not only that, I really hope to write these stories in a romantic, interesting, authentic and believable way.The life of wild animals is just like that of human beings, with joys, sorrows and joys.Their real life and the passion and interest released by the true feelings can be featured in a big book, and people don't need to use their imagination anymore.
In the novel "The Legend of Kazan", I tried to describe to readers my experience of getting along with wild sled dogs in the north for many years. In the novel "The Grizzly Bear King", I followed the facts and described the life of the wild animals I saw: in the Canadian Rocky Mountains, I was with the little grizzly bear Muska in summer and autumn.Another grizzly, named Pipenascus, was buried on Brazier Hill, and I erected a monument to him.We caught these two cubs in Athabasca.Grizzly Thor is still alive, because there are no hunters in his territory, and even if we had the opportunity to hunt him, we gave up.
In July 1916, that is, this year, I intend to return to the place where Grizzly Thor and Muska live.If I ever meet Thor, I hope I'll recognize him, he should still be as strong.Of course, the cub Mascar has grown up too.Once I meet Mascar, I am sure it will recognize me.I often think that it must not have forgotten about sugar. He probably remembers how many nights he snuggled up beside me, and we went hunting together after we ate the roots and berries, and we used to romp around and entertain ourselves in the camp.Even so, Muska may not forgive me, because on the last day we left him, so indifferent, leaving him alone, alone in the mountains.
